  • No sweat, no gain... no bleeding no pain !! If you want to see him against the Nazis, watch the movie INVINCIBLE !!

  • Whatta lunk sound the alarm jesus is on the loose

  • Holy shit that the blood dripped down to his chest. Fuckin intense

  • Odo from Kingdom of heaven

  • Obviously does not work out at Planet Fitness.

  • One bad mofo!

  • obviously strong, but look at the use of his back, and that nose bleed is not a good sign...so many people confuse this with excellent health, but such hypertensive state to cause a spontaneous nose bleed isn't good.

  • @TheMr880 He explains his technique (the fact that he uses his back a lot) in Finnish. He also states that his technique isn't what you'd call text book deadlifting. Unfortunately the subtitles are poor and this information doesn't come through. We can discuss bad/good technique all night, but the fact of the matter is this guy won the World's Strongest Man competition twice and placed second once with a lower bodyweight than any of the other competitors. I guess you could say it worked for him.

  • IIRC Jouko competed primarily in Strongman, where lower back strength is an absolute must... considering the weights these guys need to move in competition with a round back (like the stones and such), it's really not that odd to see a RDL-type of deadlift here. Also, this guy is strong as shit.

  • Vaatimaton kaveri. Tosi paljo rispektiä. Jouko Ahola oli maailman vahvin mies minun lapsuudessani. - He is very modest. I respect him greatly for that. When I was a child, he was the strongest man in the world.

  • damn my back hurts from that last set!

  • fuck hes strong and he looks like a beeft up Tim Curry..

  • This mtf is so strong its unbelievable! The strongest clean and jerk guy (Hossein Rezazadeh) is probably 40 kg heavier but stil this guy is much stronger in raw power such as deadlift and squads...and i mean much stronger. Talk about efectiv muscles fibres! What a hero!

  • After that '3rd rep' he should of done 5 more...

  • Your vocabulary in the comments just shows you are probally watching this on jail break time. Some people say his back is not in proper form, I don't any human back could maintane a proper form under 700 plus pounds.

  • Nice life Jouko, I met him in Finland a few years ago a very nice guy too

  • @WLKCONSULTING Well, he's from Finland !

  • @WLKCONSULTING I hope you realise the man in the video isnt russian

  • @Roffeskanal yep hes from Finland

  • @Rendej no shit

  • Comment removed

  • he aint trying hard enough ;)

  • In case no one knows jouko doeent have an once of body fat on him, all pure muscle

  • jouko ahola is my favourite strongman, favourite since I first saw strongman, we're both samilar aswell we both got long arms.

  • How high does the blood pressure have to be to have blood squirting from the nose?

  • @throws56

    not high at all

  • holy shit, it was squirting out at the end...why was that and is it serious? I train on my own, 150 pounds 5"9 and can deadlift 380pounds but if that happend to me id freak out!

  • @farmboyham

    these were kg.

    1kg is 2.25pounds...

  • @ALPINETRADE yeah i know the converstion rate, i'm obviously not up to his level...do you have an answer for the blood ?? thats what I really want to know, not a statement of the obvious...

  • @farmboyham

Not being a doctor, but blood veins are really in the surface on the nose.

I had the nose bleeding problem when I was younger and the doctor said if the bleeding is getting worse they will need to "burn" the veins or put dissolving plastic tube to my nose. :-o I guess this is heritage "thing" and can get worse in dry climate...

Luckily didn't need to go thru that, but you get use to the nose bleed when having some physical activies. ;-)

  • Jumalauta mikkä hartiat. Kunnon maastavetäjillä on isoimmat epäkkäät.

  • You know its heavy when your nose bleeds.

  • I'd wanna be like this guy because your strong, but also, your semi-trim (compared to most guys) so you can still touch your face

  • i got 1 qn, is it alright to have a round back doing deadlift?

  • @deadbass89 NO! never! pull those shoulder blades together and always look up

  • @desmonds22 this vid he had a slight round...haha...cause i have it too...my mobility is not good...

  • Sponsored by Heinz Ketchup

  • i would shit my pants and rupture a disk trying to lift that

  • @aznmav2 The hospital doctors would not be too impressed...

  • If his nose is bleeding from that I wonder what the inside of his brain looks like.

  • @MrMZaccone probably not too good

  • @MrMZaccone with comments like these i'd say hes much smarter than you

  • @keepaalo Yeah, but he doesn't troll anywhere near as well as you ... LOL!

  • @MrMZaccone Atleast i wasnt trolling on my idol but rather the person who doubt his intelligence

  • @keepaalo The only thing I doubt is the safety of lifting until you break blood vessels.

  • @MrMZaccone the brain doesnt experience an increased pressure, rather only the blood vessels that feed it. the only major risk from moving such huge weights comes from 2 separate genetic conditions - one which causes hardening of the heart muscles from extreme exercise and the other causing a separation of the walls of the aorta under major pressures. The only other risk i know of is an aneurysm - which are themselves caused by an underlying condition. So no excuse not to go lift some weights

  • @desmonds22 So are you saying that nosebleeds while lifting are not a good reason to re-evaluate your health or exercise plan?

  • @MrMZaccone there is no simple answer to that - weightlifting causes a short spike in BP but studies have shown it to have long term benefits in reducing resting BP. If you are getting nosebleeds from moderate lifting (less than 1.5x body weight) then weightlifting is beneficial, even if you are getting nosebleeds during exercise. However you wont be getting nosebleeds from moderate to high intensity exercise without underlying hypertension.

  • @desmonds22 It took you that long to research that?

  • @MrMZaccone its called being employed. give it a try.

  • @desmonds22 Oh! That's funny! I'm self employed, dipshit. Give that a try.

  • @MrMZaccone youtube is full of the highly successful self-employed jet-set

  • @desmonds22 Not to mention clever euro-trash-talking morons everywhere.

  • qhy would you want to be anything other than a power lifter man, or strong man etc

  • BEAST

  • 4:45---5:15 Asiaa! :D

  • Perhana, ukko vääntää vaikka veret tirahtaa nenästä...respect!

  • unbelievable strong! What a fighter. Finnish sisu!

  • Look how long his arms are, when fully upright the bar is about mid thigh

  • @atomico29 They were not that long until he started lifting such heavy weights...

  • Man look at those traps! WOW!!!!

  • Awesome athlete. I read his max deadlift is 892 lbs (405kg)!!

  • lol idiot

  • I wonder what his blood pressure was then ? 500 PSI or something

  • im related to jouko, my names patrick ahola. i love liftin weights but im no were near what my great uncle is hahah

  • This is what we call "SISU" in Finland

  • holy shit! he lifted so hard his nose bled!

  • Yes. when you consider that he had relatively small, skinny legs for a strongman & he could still lift those tremendous deadlift weights like he did... then you have to realize that he DID actually have had the strongest back of any of them. Coz all the other strongmen in his day had legs TWICE the size of his!!!

  • @ppl00125 Yes. A example of other guy who had skinny legs was Magnus Samuelsson, but his deadlift is very weak, compared to Jouko's.

  • *265

  • cool ..his face is bleeding

if you want to be THE best on the planet this has to happen !

though I have dead lifted 300 kgs

and 8 reps of 225lbsone arm press !!

    yes I am magnificent

  • So FUCKING impressive.. Youre truely an inspiration.

  • kovempi ku se kurja rätti "viinkinki" halme joka pilas elämänsä

  • TRAPS!

  • props to you, definately tough working out your back, as you said your back is stronger than your legs so that technique is acceptable, but to be able to do 360kilos doing essentially an RDL is incredible

  • fuckin yoked

  • BEAST !!!!

  • veri vaa roiskuu. kova poika :)

  • damn his neck!!!

  • When I grow up I wanna be Jouko Ahola because that shit was hardcore!

  • Yikes. That can't be good for one's health. LOL

Juoko Ahola was a DAMN strong strongman in his prime. He could beat anyone...

  • @ppl00125 not kaz

  • And he was faster than anyone else, because he weighted only 280 lbs

  • @Feon3 ...always loved watchin' him. He actually was only weighing 265 in some of those events.

  • Ok, that was scary.

  • Haahahaahh Jouko!!!! Kylmänviilee jätkä. Respect!!!!

  • Wow. What drive. Thats amazing

  • I'd love to see Jouko and Mark Felix go head-to-head to find out who has the strongest back...

  • The best, I've seen.

  • Badass.

  • Can you Imagine the strain and the pain on that last rep, lol.....

  • Kiva piuha...

  • Danggg!!! His nose like bled like crazy. Can't say I've had that happen. Haha. But yah that was nasty hhaha

  • his blood pressure must have been through the roof. F that

  • Wow, this guy said he's shorter than the other competitors. Anyone know the average height of these strongman competitors?

  • jouko's about 6'1/2'', or 184 cm; average height is probably around 6'3'', or 190 cm, but there are some guys who go up to 6'7''

  • Dont forget Nathan Jones, 6ft 10"

  • Go Winland!

  • One of my all time faves!

  • dude sick

  • That 360 Kg So brutal !

  • You all talk about his strengh, but you forget that he is also smart, he´s strategic, not only brute force make you the best, Jouko know his game and how to play it, that´s why i admire him so much.

  • if that doesnt inspire you, nothing will.

  • best strongman ever pound-for-pound

  • You said hes not a bodybiulder, and its true. But if U think about how much steroids Coleman & others takes, they takes it like they eat breakfast sandwichs.. Jouko Ahola is clean and if he would use steroids he would probibly not being far away of Cutler and Colemans size.. so yeyeyeyyee

  • Well he's not natural but who cares, he has a frighteningly high deadlift and has a bad-ass set of traps :P

  • Don;t tell me you actually believe he is natural. That would be the most naive thing I have ever read. All strength athletes at this level use, and it doesn;t make them any lesser in their accomplishments - in fact it makes them greater, for these warriors have the heart and drive to do what it takes to succeed and surpass their genetic limitations.

  • Why does this have -6? The fact that all of the top-level athletes in the world use PED doesn't make them any less amazing.

  • not bodybuilder but still fucking cool

  • not a bodybuilder? yeah. hes a strongman, way stronger and in way better shape

  • @foottothroat21 most of the strongmans use/used steroids and the knees and elbows on strongmans are quite worn out..

  • @foottothroat21 That's right. We can call him a strength builder, rather than a body builder.

  • He looks very impressive, check out hs abs when he puts his belt on, traps made out of steel and ripped. Perfect athlete, unreal back strength

Olin paikalla todistamassa tapahtunutta.

  • For the weak, perhaps.

  • perchè tutte quelle cinture?? come scarica la tensione dei muscoli???

  • That's cause he's already better than him.

  • Check out the movie invincible, he was really good in it as the strongman.

  • Jouko is seriously hardcore!

  • crazy... but respect

  • One thing I noticed right away about Jouko was that his shoulders are very low naturally. His traps are huge and his shoulders are not very wide. So his arms hang very low. That is very handy for a heavy deadlift... and man, he's got a good deadlift. He doesnt look very impressive, but he was a great strength athlete. Also very reserved and quiet, which was a nice change from the norm.

  • Comment removed

  • how heavy is he in this video?

  • I would be willing to bet around 270.

  • yes, the one with blond long hair :P. he get´s shot in the neck by an arrow :P

  • Comment removed

  • he is in the movie called kingdom of heaven lol :P

  • the sword guy who dies in the beginning?

  • In strongman, are competitors allowed to do sumo deadlifts? I've never seen one performed at a strongman compeition yet many powerlifters prefer the sumo stance.

  • Look at all the top records in the deadlift. Practically all of them are done conventional, and there's a reason why.

  • Yes it is permitted, Tony Saunders use's that technique.

  • Damn what happened to his nose?

  • During deadlifts your bloodpressure skyrockets, due to valsalving. Its not uncommon to get nose bleeds especially if your BP is a little hi to begin with.

  • That last set was f*&^%ing great!!!!! LOL Thats what it is al about Got me pumped for training!!

  • if u aint gonna train hard, dont train at all! inspiration right there

  • What a badass!

  • wow @ the blood and his last rep of 360kg... man that didnt look good..

  • Awesome! I hope to bleed soon. :)

  • Is that blood coming out of his nose? That cant be good can it?

  • holy shit. i think i would have stopped when my nose started to bleed.

  • [2]

  • tais olla vähän flunssaa.. Mutta silti uskomaton äijä..

  • my all time favorite strongman jouko

  • check 5:10 hahaha

  • His traps are insane!!

  • I think the video is slightly height enlarged...

  • sisu

  • OMG!!!

  • 792 lbs dang!

  • That is very impressive. 5 stars on the video!

  • insane pulling

  • Voi luoja toi loppu oli kyllä huvittava :D Rankka suoritus, mutta perkele :D

  • Hes from Finland

  • Ya man i want a nosebleed after deadlifting too

  • Dude's got some crazy traps!

  • i think he knows more about lifting than you have learned from flex and musclemag

  • i wanna have nosebleed..i must feel great...after abig lift

  • So please bud, and i'm not trying to discredit you, but you're mistaken. Steroids are part of this competition and many others like it. However, like I already said, these guys are great athletes even with the use of steroids, and many steroid users will never achieve this realm of strength. There is a strong genetic component to how big and strong you'll get, steroids doesn't = continuous size/strength. My advice is to do a thorough search on this subject, you WILL be surprised. Cheers,

  • I really dont see how you can say these guys are juiced when many competitors have been kicked out of the worlds strongest man for using it. They caught marius cause they kept it. Originally tested negative and tested again weeks later which is why he called it out after the competition. Also in many other countries enhancers are illegal and the use of them or selling them is serious jail time. Im just saying this cause my friend lifts seriously cause of this guy and has always said hes clean.

  • You only test positive if:

    A) it's in your system

    and

    B) the testers know what it looks like

There are plenty of ways to get around the tests, and the fact that sale/possession is generally illegal doesn't stop them from using. It also doesn't make their achievements any less impressive or their efforts any less monumental.

  • Well theres alot of circumstances under testing but look at justin gatlin former fastest man, look at the former cycle winner after lance, look at josh barnett who failed a drug test now twice. Alot of drugs stay in your system for long periods of time especailly if there enhancers since they get in your blood and then into the muscles. I also disagree with it doesnt make what they did less impressive.
