Casablanca; The Searchers; Ben-Hur; The Seven Samurai; Psycho (1960); The Maltese Falcon; The Great Dictator; Chinatown; Godfather Part I & II (I count them as one long story); The Silence of the Lambs; The Great Escape.
1 - The Godfather (it kicks ass) 2- The Big Lebowski (I laugh every time, and there's alot more that meets the eye) 3 - Reservoir Dogs (The best movie about BankRobbing, without a bank robbery) 4 - Amelie Poulain (it's so beautiful) 5 - A Clockwork's Orange (because it really makes you think) 6 - Sunset BLVD. @DemonShernagogh Good choice all 'round, I'd say. Check my playlist here: I've made tribute videos for a number of your choices and will undoubtedly make videos the rest of your considered and intelligent choices. Thanks for taking the time to comment!!
It's changed drastically recently: 1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Has everything you'd want in a movie. 2. Pink Floyd The Wall - Its statement on loneliness 3. In the Bedroom - For its REAL characters 4. The Thing - Paranoia and manliness 5. Dogville - Evil can happen anywhere 6. Network - I hate TV. lol 7. Zodiac - Greatest crime film. 8. Audition - Scariest film ever. 9. About Schmidt - Jack playing someone other than Jack. 10.) Mulholland Dr. - David Lynch.
Hmmm, I would have to say that "Goodfellas" is the best gangster movie, "L.A. Confidential is the best film noir, "2001: A Space Odyssey" is the best sci-fi...... and best movie ever? Hmmm.........tough one.
This is so well thought out & edited. It's excellent Rick! (I bet you would have no trouble editing a film that's nearly shot entirely in one room). The list is endless...you likely know many; lots of older & foreign. I think I'll check out the ones I've not seen you mentioned. Rented “Children of God” after seeing your video, and I was not disappointed.★★★★★
@PlayIt4MeAgainSam Did you get to see my "Sorrowand the Pity" tribute? According to YouTube, it's been taken off, but some people still write me about it, so it makes me wonder if there isn't a glitch that's gone in my favor. Thanks as always.
Films:The Ninth Configeration, Simon (Alan Arkin), Melvin and Howard, Freebie and the Bean, Woman in the Dunes, Faust (Murnau), Last Tango In Paris, Save the Tiger, A Matter of Life and Death, Umberto D (I Win !!!) Film student who include Scarface (Where Al Pachino Swears a lot in a dodgy accent and shoots things) and Shawshank Redemption (A TV Movie) Know nothing about film. lol
Ok here are some of my tops in random order, Rebel Without a Cause: for the way it changed the view of America's youth, Ben Hur: for general epicness, Moby Dick: for Peck's potrayal of Ahab, JFK: for breaking the illusion of Oswald acting alone, the Lord of the Rings trilogy for good acting, good effects and costume, and just overall an A+ movie trilogy. The original Star Wars trilogy, because even though the effects eem dated now the old ones are still the best, theyre funnier and more lasting
Heeeyyyy- may I add: Psycho (orig), Raging Bull, Serpico, 7 Pounds, The Red Road, Candy, Spin, Ice Storm, Raise the Red Lantern, The Graduate, Saturday Night Fever (the 1st R I ever saw at age 12!), Alien (all of them really), Pulp Fiction, Sixth Sense... okay, I'll stop now! :-)
i have to pick only 25? In no order (a lot are on your list): Apocalypse Now, The Shining, Straw Dogs, Dog Day, Blue Velvet, the Doors, Godfather I, Taxi Driver, Alice Doesn't Liver Here Anymore, The Dreamers, Last Days, Donnie Darko, Atonement, The Departed, Sunset Boulevard, Star Wars, Giant, East of Eden, High Plains Drifter, Rain Man, Eraserhead, Casino, Midnight Cowboy, Easy Rider, The Fall, Brick, Resevoir Dogs, Kill Bill....wait is that > than 25? I'm not done-- I told u! :-)
@BluSarahNamaste Great comment! Where does one stop ... ? 'The Departed" and any David Lynch or woefully missing here .... as are .... And, where do I begin...? (smiles) Thanks!
val kilmer was incredible in the doors! dog day afternoon is a classic! I had a hard time getting into there will be blood. great choices!! I would add gandhi. peace2u! eric
I'm happy to find here some of my favorite movies as "The Great Dictator", "Sunset Boulevard", "There Will Be Blood", "Dog Day Afternoon", "Midnight Cowboy", "Bonnie and Clyde". I agree with your comment to films like Sunset Boulevard. You're right, the film is the best depiction of Hollywood. "The Great Dictator" is Charlie Chaplin's masterpiece and "The Exorcist" is scariest movie ever.
I've recently updated it. Here's my top ten: Barry Lyndon The Straight Story Pink Floyd The Wall The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly 2001: A Space Odyssey In the Bedroom Le Samourai Clerks. Audition Jackie Brown
thanks for the video...interesting selection. @CCT90 Now, THAT'S a wonderful comment! Let me know how you feel about the ones I've suggested here after you catch up with them. Thanks for commenting!
Very nice selection of movies you got there... It had many movies, that I haven't yet seen in the first place... You did also good job editing them in one videoclip... It's a shame I don't know how to edit videos and upload them here on Youtube... What program you used to create the clip and edit them in one continous sequence?
@meachemfilms Admittedly, that Sergio Leone and Ridley Scott are neither one of them represented is an act of madness. Regrettable. Any way one does one of these ... there's always something left out. lol! Thanks for commenting!!

I have to say that I am so impressed by your knowledge of films. It is very exciting to see someone that is so passionate about something and you truly are.
Thanks again - such fantastic clips - I suppose I must go back to my childhood for my favourites of all time, Hollywood musicals of the 1950's, brightening up the drab postwar days and sending a little girl into a colourful world of music and dance. Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Grace Kelly and finally Marilyn Monroe
Great video and great taste. Even if I don't agree with some of your choices (imo, the scariest movie ever is The Innocents by J. Clayton) and even if I'd have expected more Kubrick and even if there is no Spielberg and even if you forgot (beacause you forgot it, uh?) The Night of the Hunter. And, last but not least, even if you didn't include any Christian Bale movie (American Psycho!)
Btw, I'm glad you included The Poposition by J. Hillcoat. I've just seen The Road and it's awesome!
@colitasqueen I've gotta catch up with "D azed and Confgused.' Everybody who has seen it tells me it is great. "Tommy," obviously, is my favorite musical, too1 Thanks for commenting!
Very good video! I was happy to see LAST PICTURE SHOW on there. Its a great movie. Making a list of favorite movies, books, songs, etc. is always tough. There is just so much good stuff out there. My fav film of all time would have to be 2001, though. It's a true work of art! Kubrick was a genius. Peace, George.
excellent choice of films there! definately some of the best films ever! one of my favorite films right now is carnival of souls......found it all on yt and couldn't believe my luck:D
Magical Mystery Tour is another one. It's 70 minutes and looks like fluff the first time you watch it but there's alot going on that isn't obvious.

As was "The Sorrow and the Pity". Both were great!
PlayIt4MeAgainSam 1 year ago
@PlayIt4MeAgainSam Did you get to see my "Sorrowand the Pity" tribute? According to YouTube, it's been taken off, but some people still write me about it, so it makes me wonder if there isn't a glitch that's gone in my favor. Thanks as always.

Outstanding work as always Rick!

Very nice selection of movies you got there... It had many movies, that I haven't yet seen in the first place... You did also good job editing them in one videoclip... It's a shame I don't know how to edit videos and upload them here on Youtube... What program you used to create the clip and edit them in one continous sequence?

Good job!
