  • I think it's called Downfall?

  • like if you wanna see Stalin's OS!!!

  • hey hitler, your panzer grenadier should be fitted with motorola defy with cyanogenmod 7

  • that's so true some guy inventing something in his spare time drinking beer all the really smart people just work independently and the idiots work for companys for the most part at least i know one guy who's a fucking genius on computers but now he just owns a winery and fucks around on computers funny

  • WHAT MOVIE IS THIS FROM?!

  • i got a google ad

  • this clip is so generic..

  • I always wonder what movie is this :(

  • @11multimedia

Der Untergang/Downfall, but you're trolling right?

  • @Cam4cha Thanks! No I wasnt trolling.

  • just upgraded cyanogen (which was very easy thanks to the cyanogen updator). i kept the google apps by backing them up like the wiki said. i still give a lot of credit to google for making an open source linux distribution

  • Yeah, it's only funny if you don't actually understand German. Otherwise, you have weird Google dialog superimposed over a completely legitimate dialog.

  • Haha brilliant! I say f*** Android. Why not make a community version of Linux and use it....ambitious I know but I'd like to see it happen!

  • Android is based on Linux. Maemo practically is Linux. It's apparently very easy to port of existing programs to Maemo.

Obviously you can't just take a desktop OS and throw it on a phone and expect it to be good. You have to rewrite the entire interface if you want it to be good or end up with WinMo.

Plus, this Cyanogen issue is really old news. He did a work around that just rips the Google Apps straight out of the stock ROM and then you flash his ROM giving you CyanogenMod w/ Gapps.

  • @Deathwish238 Actually it's not easy to port existing programs to Maemo. Android's programs are run in a Dalvik virtual machine. Even if they're both based on Linux, their apps are not.

  • fuckin epic

  • what movie is this orignally from?

  • Der Untergang "The Downfall"

  • haha awesome

totally agree with everything he said

  • this one is really well done, fits well

  • google changes the course of history!!!!

  • not funny if you understand german

  • I acually think its much funnier...since you can hear how good this fits :)

  • hahah i was just typing in the same

its a lil bit funny if you not listening fully to what he says

  • howd u get it with out words on the bottom?

  • Why the fuck would you want it without the words?

  • @SeEsAw121221 so that i could put words at the bottom and make 1

  • Oh well there's tons of these videos on YouTube.

so I guess just look for one without the words in the video

  • someone took this video and did the same thing but with the 'ipad' and they now have over 1 million hits. That sucks because this was here long before the ipad was even a reality.

  • yay i finally rooted my g1, but i kept the apps by upgrading. i absolutely LOVE these hitler videos

  • I love my n900! :D

  • "FOOK GOOGLE MAPS"

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha

  • allah akbar heil Hitler

  • This is Great!!! Funny as hell man, good job. These Companies make great phones , but we make them Better!!!

  • Maemo it is then :P

  • Speechless an awesome video

  • Great video, kudos to CM, great ROM

  • This is absolutely awesome! I laughed so hard through the whole thing :) I <3 CyanogenMod

  • From what movie is this clip from????

  • Der Untergang

  • Original is from Downfall, which is a great film!

  • I'm German so I undertood all what they said..

if you understand everything it isn't so funny at all, but I think I will make a re-syncronization in German :)

  • I made a shirt about this.

    tiny u r l (dawt) com slash yfdr85v

  • BTW I changed beer to 'beverage' on this shirt for the fact that imma be wearing this at school. but go ahead and edit it.

  • Totally awesome!

  • freaking awesome man I was lmao

  • Hitler must be turning in his grave!

  • Google do no evil? I WILL DO THE EVIL!

  • I was laughing to tears. Excellent!

  • I could not stop laughing.

[Thank goodness my German is very very limited.]

  • this is the best thing ever. and i was ust about to go cyanogen.

  • fucking funny shit man, never would have thought of something like this, very creative

  • it sucks to watch this vid as a german..

because i understand what they are sayin' , and it's freakin anoying to read something different...

  • i bet! heh I always wondered what the Germans would say. Prolly say thats not the right tranlastion, freaking idiots!

  • easy just turn off the speaker or wear a ear plug. so you don't hear what they are saying.

  • @monouchi2 i don't understand all of it, but i understand the biggest part. This scene has been used like a million times for shit like Android, Apple and more. It's easy to subtitle it and pretend it's something else, because most people that can actually read the subs don't speak German

  • @monouchi2 i still love it even knowing what's been originally said. the discrepancy just makes it so much more awesome :D

  • koool video!! i like it even there are many tutorials givining u the wrong link!!!to mees up ours phone!!!i quiet all the crap i leave my phone the way it is!!!

  • maybe you messes up your phone cause you cant type..

    sorry. too easy! haha

    Viva Cyanogen!

  • Fantastic !

Maybe hitler was not the right person to support open source cause... but...very funny !

Cyanogen must live...because they rocks !ù

And Google if is not dumb... have to support they !

Long life to Android and the open source... death to the close...

  • AWESOME!! And excruciatingly true!!!

  • That makes me a saaad hitler.

seriously though, when the first rom popped up, why didn't they see this coming? good video, surprisingly great timing, so I thank you osokrayzay because you have truly created a video that people can get behind.

  • That was fuckin' hilarious! I was afraid there would be some "translation" that wouldn't fit in with the action on scene, but it all worked out perfectly. Great job!

  • Awesome video. my words exactly "FOOK GOOGLE" LMAO

  • The Video is great!

Exactly how I feel about the shit Google did!

Perfect! Thank you very much for this Video!

Google wants to go evil and so this Vid fits perfectly!

    BRILLIANT!

  • LMAO

  • HAHAHA!!! This video is freakin' ingenious and hilarious! I needed that laugh! Good job, person! lol.

  • Sprint's network is reliable.. Sprint got a bad rep... for customer service.. but its def not for dropping calls... most of the bad rep has to do with Billing... from what I 've heard.. . I never had any trouble with them though ...

Sprint got the most reliable 3g and a reliable voice network.. .Dropped calls are from AT and T .. matter of fact I had to swith to Sprint from AT and T because AT and T was horrible..

  • Google should take note of this video and stop there idiocy.

  • HAHA...LOOOOOVE THIS!

  • I just had to comment on how I would love to see the new Nokia N900 run all the Google Apps they sent Cyanogen C&D on.

Maybe Google's Lawyers will think about the cost of attacking enthusiasts. There is no better way to speed up product spread than through viral word-of-mouth marketing.

Shooting yourself in the foot only slows you down and helps Apple, Rim, Palm and Windows Mobile learn from your LEGAL based mistake. Android Devs don't deserve this ridicule as this was not there doing!

  • Uh, it's "Hitler" - fix title and tag....

    But....Brilliant!

Where is the clip from, and what is the original dialog?

  • The film is "Der Untergang," known in English as "Downfall." It's an amazing film; I recommend finding and watching it if you can.

  • This is freakin hillarious. :)

In regards to the Google action, I like the company and appreciate all of the resources they've invested into Android. Fact is, Cyanogen fixed Android - he didn't write all of it. I hope this doesn't cause a rift that could cause Google to invest less in Android. The fact is, I'd like to have my Donut and eat it, too. I hope that happens soon, because "I have a Dream today" (heaven forbid an iPhone, tomorrow).

  • I came to rub it in the face of everyone that rated me down and were being stupid. Guess who is wrong and guess who is right? You're wrong, I'm right.1. Google has been working with cyanogen in order to get him up to a point where he is still legal. 2. He is using the idea I mentioned here as being viable to make it all work. Explain to me how google is evil agian?

  • you're taking things way to seriously. who cares.

  • I care

  • You think this equals to you being right? From your myopic and 1-dimensional point of view, I guess I can see where you are coming from. This still isn't encouraging mods. If you are familiar with the difficulties of modding to a stable release, these workarounds cause unpaid enthusiasts a great deal more debugging time when the mod can't be distributed as a system as install permutations increase. Deployment of upgrades also suffers greatly as edge cases increase. Unpaid devs won't bother.

  • Impressive video! LOL

Google is in its legal right, but what a big shoot in the foot! This will backfire sooo badly, unless they take immediate action...

  • The guy who made this video & substitles is a genius

  • I wonder how much Apple paid Google?

  • HHAHAHA i love it

  • love takin the piss outa the man with the tash......

  • Funny and clever text.... but all this hysteria is ridiculous and highly exaggerated!

People please UNDERSTAND what is happening before going all nutso.

And to say that Cyanogen is more skilled than the Android dev team is pure fantasy. Cyanogen may have added some good ideas but HE modified the design, nothing more! He didn't re-write the Android code and incorporated copyrighted components!

    OMG! Please be realistic!

  • '' Call Nokia and pre-order N900 maemo's OS, till then we'll use Donuts '' LMAO

  • LOL, Brilliant.

So much for "Don't be evil" and all that crap about being open.

  • LOL fantastic!

  • Funny, but a little hard with the android dev team, which do a very good job! (and can do this better by releasing a true native API :p)

  • it is somewhat true though, Cyanogen created a lighter faster better rom drinking a beer in his basement than an entire dev team a google....

  • Yes, but based on the (big) work of the android dev team, and with less constraints and less responsibilities. (stability and compatibility with all hardware and applications, developing API, etc)

But yes, it will be better that Cyanogen author's be hiring by Google :p

  • Agreed, either way cyanogen is a great developer, why try and limit his potential

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... lol

  • lmao

    SAVE CYANOGENMOD!

  • ROTFL :))

    great work :D

    anyway, Save CyanogenMod!

  • FOOK GOOGLE!

  • LOL!

    go cyanogen!!

  • very true, very funny

    well done :D

    google do no evil

  • fantastic!

    w cm!

  • FUCK U GOOGLE!!!

  • FOOK*

  • Brilliant and very true. lol.

  • You are a f..ing genius! lol lol lol

  • That was awesome, great video and soo true!

  • LOLZ! Man, that was funny. Very nice. NOKIA rulez!!

And the N900 will me mine as well!!! hahah...

  • *nerdish 0rgasm*

  • LOL LOL LOL LOOOOOL!!! haaaaa!!! this is hilarious!!! hehehehe.....

  • your sync is all fucked up

I suppose people will make roms without the Gapps with the implicit understanding that everyone will go to piratebay or whatever and illegally download those parts to complete the rom. Of course, if it's that much of a pain in the ass, it will stymie the indie scene to the point where no indie mods will ever catch on beyond crazy hardcore people, which helps demotivate them from even trying to make one...

I'll still holding out hope that moblin or maemo might be ok

  • Brilliant! 5 stars, CM FTW

  • "Open source my ass!" ... what a masterpiece in swearing!!! :D

  • In what kind of shit the allies would have been if Hitler had all those n900's? :D

  • I don't understand why people are saying that Cyanogen is "for personal use only". Just because everyone commenting here doesn't want to make money off of it doesn't mean others don't. There is nothing stopping Google's competitors or anyone else from picking apart the closed-source apps and using them to make a profit. I know it [hopefully] was not the intent of the Cyanogen developer to give others the chance profit off of Google's work, but Google isn't marketing Android as a meal-ticket.

  • This. Hard.

  • ftw!

  • Funniest Hitler reaction video EVER!! "Don't worry.. we won't switch to Sprint!"

  • I think that everyone who have downloaded anything from Cyanogen should go show that man some LOVE! I hope he don't get out the game but come at it in a different way! SHOUT OUT TO CYANOGEN KEEP DOING YOUR DAMN THING! I was able to throw my g1 in these iphone user face made some of them want a g1 one... I think T mobile need to say a few things because it was setting them up for new customers!

  • I would like to say that google is not stopping a damn thing! Yes Cyanogen got send a C&D that one man.. Their more guys out there who is doing the samethings he is or was doing.. I agree Cyanogen was on top of has game the best one out there! It not a sad day but a good one because now google know that it a demand for a better upgrade on are g1 then the sorry cupcake.. So trust me google will work something out... What Cyanogen did he woke google up!

  • "Their more guys out there who is doing the same things he is or was doing" you're assuming he's the only or the last one to get a C&D.

  • I was saying their other who doing rom

  • Demios - they could change the license to allow the modification and or distribution of the currently closed source applications for non-commercial (that is, PERSONAL) use. Cyanogen wasn't making money and none of us are phone manufacturers or operators trying to put Android on our phones. If you can come up with a good reason for that, other than "oh well they own it so it is their perogative," you're on the same level as anyone talking about "the man" screwing anyone over, just the other side.

  • mail/talk/youtube/etch whaterver, I can live wihtout it, but the point is that many of the essential components of the phones OS that allows it to even boot up and run like Google sync and contacts are not being allowed to be used by Google thus causing any rom developed to be useless without active contributions from the community. Some of you are failing to see that by the preventing certain apps from being used Google is discouraging a true "Open-Source"

  • I hope people here are installing the "Save Cyanogenmod petition" from the market. Maybe the author of the video can add it to the description?

  • Ya, really sucky what Google is doing.... I always thought that "open source" only meant Apps but that was about it... Then I saw everyone making ROM's and was like "Can they do this?" Guess not.

Google is still a bunch of nazis... =p

  • im feeling this about cynganon and google , they are so wrong google shouldnt do this sh*t , this is why i bought mytouch because OPEN SOURCE . man they are a** holes

  • OK, how did you know how I was feeling at this news!!!

    PERFECT!

    Google, are you listening?

  • fucking google nazi dictatint assholes , open source my ass , with your stupid cloused source fine print , sit on it an rotate

  • oh my! this is great!

  • F**king epic. Still mad about the C&D tho.

  • Google devs are bad?

That's going a bit far, don't you think?

I mean, just because their legal team decided to take action against a very good hacker doesn't mean the devs at Google themselves agree...

  • I guess you've never used the "stock" G1. I'll prob be going to an iPhone after this... which sucks cause of no physical... but the G1 is way too slow without being hacked.

  • Google what are you doing!? you're hurting yourselves with this!!! people are selling their phones!!!!

  • Android doesn't need Google. All this has done is forced devs to make or use open source apps instead of Google's apps and framework.

It will only make Android better.

  • Google, you're f***ing dumbass.

  • petitionspot com/petitions/cyanmod/

  • Why Google? Why?

  • Android will lose many customers... Cyanogen is what made the people who decided to stick to android stick. the ones who dont know anything about cyanogen or the other devs are the ones who leave to get iphones.

Please google, just pull back on the C&D, maybe google and cyanogen can come to some agreement for him to continue.

Video amazingly accurate how we feel.

  • Save cyanogen and custom android roms!

I see a few pople are doing this already:

Download a google app, give it 1 star and comment on cyanogen.

Then email dev department about it

Mark app as inapropriate because of other, then say cyanogen

    Uninstall app, mark as malicious.

    And repeat!

    Lets flood google!

  • freakin hilarious !

  • Demios101, While the revenue loss is questionable, many businesses like Microsoft and others turn a blind eye toward license enforcement when lax enforcement can increase user base or strict enforment can harm adoption. In this case google only served to harm true enthusiasts of their product, many of whom are IT folks who make real decisions about adopting google services or technologies within their corporation. I'd argue that a majority of Cyanogen mod users are not casual users.

  • im going to have to agree with @wagzz

"I'd argue that a majority of Cyanogen mod users are not casual users." <---Hit the Nail on the Head! i know im not just a "Casual" user!

  • Once again, remove mail/talk etc from the rom, find a way to have it fire up. User gets on the market and downloads the apps that are not included in the rom. End of story.

  • Market is one of the closed source apps they cannot distribute.

  • vending.apk in the system/app/ folder. It's on everyone's phone by default. Back it up, then reinstall it..

  • That still doesn't solve the basic problem that they are making it more difficult for a group of enthusiasts and indirectly making it more difficult for said enthusiasts to induct more followers. I'm willing to bet that these enthusiasts spend more in the market than your casual user. Let's remember that many software companies started supporting modding of their games to support communities. Many appliance vendors support hacking of their equipment to prop up sales to an important demographic

  • You wanted to talk about business Demios, but you are talking about licensing only. Perhaps it's your lack of knowledge of the other side of business which is marketing. Probably the most important business principle for google since advertising revenue is the majority of their business.

  • I hear a lot of complaining. Alternatives have been offered and none of them picked up. All I hear is whining from people who have no idea what they are talking about, or people who are gung-ho about fighting "the man". The options are there and they are easy. Too lazy to make something of it? Quit whining. Google sent cyanogen a C&D and instead of working around it, he chose to quit. Don't be mad at google for following through on their rights. Read the "android-developers" blog sometime.

  • I'm neither whining nor making personal attacks on anyone. My point is, from a business perspective, you are seeing the outcome of a poor choice in license enforcement and marketing. Companies usually only enforce licenses when their is a perceived threat to their business or when revenue loss outways revenue gain. In this case the revenue lost by allowing cyanogen to distribute 4 or 5 free apps is not more than revenue gain by happy enthusiasts and word-of-mouth marketing. Also see my IT cmt

  • Sorry partner, google makes it's brand off advertising yes. However, this is putting the kibosh on something that could get out of control. Google has taken one for the team and stepped in, rather than having a ton of little lawsuits tossed around by a truckload of little companies. Google stepped right in and protected the members of it Open Handset Alliance. I am more than aware of how business models work. I am decidedly aware of how software ethics work, and I am also IT.

  • Which is probably why your perception is myopic. Remember, Google is still trying to break into the mainstream in the phone market with decidedly tough competition and other open platforms. They have been propping themselves up as the more open alternative to Iphone and others. This is the type of move that turns away the development community around a phone platform which this the crux of success within this category of phone. They have to protect their mkt share as well as their partners.

  • Yes there is competition. Breaking in is no longer a problem. 30 devices before the year is over is nothing to scoff at. That said, any dev can see clearly a way around the issues at hand. It boils down to, do you care enough about what you are working on or are you lazy. This in my opinion is something that can be glazed over. Instead people throw hands in the air outraged and crying over "nothing." This early in the game, partners still carry more weight that individual users.

  • 30 phones does not equal success. Google has a long way to go. Iphone has 1 phone and is dominant in this category so competitors have to come up with differentiation (google chose openness among other things to gain developers). This little known mod (cyans) is now making mainstream media and key IT decision makers, phone developers, and community may migrate off google early on to symbian or palm. You may be seeing some harsh comments, but this is the voice of google's loyal customers.

  • Ask any bartender and he'll tell you it's the regulars that bring in the most business :)

  • Yeah, i had been asking that question, and at the time no one was able to answer if it was that simple. Now Cyanogen is saying he'll offer a script to backup and restore the said apps. The downside being that in future versions of android, the version you have from an older version may not work.

  • meh, fuck it! iPhone, here I come!!!

  • Word! I don't have the money though :-(

  • somebody should send this to the google android devs =]

  • i'll tweet this to one of them =)

  • As awesome as the video was, I'm going to have to side with Demios. The os is open source, not the apps. And that makes since. Devs will have to come up with a new way to fire off there custom roms, thats all.

  • This video is genius.

  • Google why why!

  • Demios101 you don't seem to get the fact that most of the users of this rom were G1 users and now some myTouch 3g which t mobile is paying google for the apps so i dont see what is bad about having a way better version of the stock rom

  • I give up, you guys do not understand how business works. Just because you paid does not mean it is over.

  • Even with the f'ed up stuff that was actually being said in the video, I laughed my ass off at the subtitles. Especially at "Don't worry, we won't switch" Demios, I think a lot of us are fully aware that he infringed on the copyright, we are saying that the domain under which those applications fall should be changed and their licenses modified, especially if for non-commercial use.

  • Partner, if the app becomes open source or the license changed, google cannot make money off it being bundled with devices. What is going on here is akin to paying for one cable box, wanting as many as you want cause you already payed for cable and then getting mad when your cable provider sends you a letter saying you only paid for one box, stop stealing.

  • Funny part is

    Android was best phone yesterday

    And it is worst today

Thank god I didn't sell my HTC HD

I am going back to Windows, (Anyone interested in getting G1? I guess not)

  • Comment removed

  • It's funny because this is exactly what went through my head when I heard. Even the part when he was like "I use to like Google" all depressed.

  • What are you all dense? He officially APPROVES of these custom builds of Android, but when Cyanogen includes GMail/YouTube/GTalk and other Google applications in his ROMs for free, it hurts their business. How? Because Google is making deals with carriers and manufacturers who likely have to PAY to feature these Google applications pre-installed on their phones and advertise/market that these are included. After you install the damn rom, just get on the market and download the applications.

  • He is can't use Google Sync and Google Sign In. Without these apps, Android won't even boot! The devs at XDA are currently working to making replacements just so this POS phone will still turn on!!!!!!

  • What are you dense? Do you know what you are talking about or did someone tell you that? Plain and simple gmail/youtube/gtalk are closed source. Cyanogen was being illegal, google just did not press it for a while. Once again, pretty much everything that boots up on an android device can be added aftermarket/rom. Linux is awesome like that. Please read up properly and know what you speak of first.

  • umm but we bought the phone already!!! The carriers already got paid for the phones we bought. How are they going to lose money???

  • wow... just. What do you think The fact that you already bought a phone means everyone got paid? You realize businesses have to stay in business. Android is a platform that can be run on damn near anything. Even "non android" devices. I am quite certain you are unaware of how business models work. The bottom line is, if he did not write the closed source app, and the owner does not give him permission to distribute it, what he is doing is infringing on copyrights.

  • Guys, don't be sooooo over the top with your comments. I don't think google is making us buy a new handset(@:maekithappen). . . Googl
