how much do you recommend these cameras to do youtube vids on? they look real good but is the sony cybershot w300 better?

I dont know the difference between w290 and w300, but this camera is a very good option to do YouTube vids. I recommend it!

I just got one of these and uploaded a test vid which was recorded on the highest setting and uploaded with Sony's software. It does not play here as either HQ or HD. Do I need to do something differently?

You don't have to do nothing, automatically recognize if it's in HD.

Sometimes it takes awhile for the HD symbol to show up on you vid. After you upload a vid and able to watch it, youtube is still doing things to the vid.

it has zoom, but you can only use it before start recording.

Thanks for clarifying. A lot of people kept saying you couldn't zoom at all. I'm about to buy one tomorrow. Do you know what's the largest memory card it will recognise? Doubt that I'll buy anything over 8gb but it would be nice to know. Thanks again for this post.

I don't know the largest memory card you can use. I have a 8gb memory and I don't have any problem.
