I once knew a girl named Stormy a long time ago when i was a little kid, she was and still is a really kind person. one of the sweetest girls i've ever known. miss her.
I was only 7 when this song came out but it has always been a fav like so many of the songs from the late 60s and into the 70s....I consider myself to more of an 80s music lover and anything rock and roll (Beatles for sure) but the 60s and 70s had some great soft rock/easy listening music!!
How could so much talent be wrapped up in such a short period of time?
Now, like Stormy, I find myself seeking that sunny day. Thank you so much for the great post on youtube. Long live the free internet, let's enjoy it whle we have it. I miss you Dennis Yost. Heaven really does one hell of a band. Thank you so much for loving the classics and taking the time to post them on youtube for all of us to enjoy.
This rock/jazz mixture with a rather fluid like sound was quite groundbreaking for its time. I suspect this song opened the gates for lots of great music we know and love.
Thoughts of a bright sun amid a blue sky... soothing breeze as you walk in the soft and grainy sand... the rays emitting a hypnotic tune... and then the sultry sax plays its tune... awesome song.
@Visionary0001 LMAO @ you. John Legend never claimed that his song was 100% original. He was inspired by this song to make Save Room, as he has stated. Also, I love how when people outside of Hip-Hop/Neo Soul do a cover, it's okay; but let a hip-hop producer sample something or neo soul artist cover/interpret something and they're stealing it. Save Room is definitely a better song than this IMO, however this song is great also.
I agree with drummerfremoly below music will never replace the 60s-70s music u had 2 live thin thin u would no what i mean.Cruesing the ave in my 65 chevey impalla.Goeing 2 the drivein with your1 girl lisening 2 the radio or 8 track i can still remember those classic iv playing there hits on the radio or my 8 track i still here there songs today on a oldies station and my ol 45s i kept all those years love u 60s u r not forgotten thangs 4 the coment drummerfremoly take care. mikey.
Yes I was 9 at the time, my cousin would sing this and play elect guitar and his brother would play the drums, then I would sit in. Love this song to this day. The thing about these classics is its special to others as well. Today's generation will find it hard to bring a song like this from todays repretoire 40 years from now. Not the same. Back then we heard the song on the radio, then at a special moment in time, we would see the band on tv. Now we have the internet. Not the same.
I was on tour when this wonderfull artist & his group was riding high in the charts.
It made me perform & play better, plus put me in a happy mood before all my matches....Looking back to re-live those great days when Dennis & his outstanding voice made it 3 in a row with... Spooky / Stormy & Traces.
Stormy brings back great memeries.Iwas cruising the ave. and it was storming and theradio staition KSTN in stockton ca played this song.I well never forget that song its 1 of my faverits allong with Spooky;everytime i here stormy on the radio I remember that stormy friday night .in the asome 60s and 70s 2 me music was the best and allways well B.Lets dont forget thoses wounderfull 60s-70s.Assome jop Clasic iv. mikey Stockton ca.
I remember hearing this on the radio when it was current, and the same for "Spooky","Everyday With You Girl" and "Traces". They were a fine group with a great sound,Dennis Yost had a lot of soul in his voice!! They were from Jacksonville,FL, like latter Lynyrd Skynyrd and Outlaws among others. This is my favorite song by them, let's go back to '68...
I wasn't alive when this song came out. I'm only 28-years-old, but there was a time in my life where I heard this song on a regular basis, and now days hearing this brings back all kinds of memories to me. I guess age and music don't go hand-in-hand, do they? Great stuff here.
A nice song. I didn't play bass when I first heard this song years ago, but now I realize that in addition to a nice melody, it also has a nifty bass line. Some of the guys from Classics Four went on to form the Atlantic Rhythm Section, best known for Imgainary Lover and So Into You. They also re-recorded the Classics Four Spooky. It's worth checking out, especially if you're a guitarist. There is some really great guitar playing going on.
1969. I was so young and this is the version that I was looking for. I had forgotten the name of the group. I know people say it all the time but what happened. Don't people write songs anymore? Where is the originality. This is why music from this generation is so widely respected. The 60s and 70s produced some of the most wonderful music yet. Thanks for the post. :D Peace.

Great song to listen to on a rainy day..actually all of their songs are very cool, a change of pace after a hectic day..a glass of wine and a good book..kinda music!
Shame on John Legend!!!! Some songs should be banned from being redone, and this is one of them!!!! With the combination of the lyrics, the melancholy, the instrument arrangement, and overall goosebump feeling, this song should NEVER be touched by anyone. Their name says it all "Classics IV" Save Room? Save room for a lawsuit John Legend!!!!!!!! Don't "F" with a classic
As much as I love Spooky, this is still my favourite Classics IV song. One can't deny the smoothness in the music yet the edge in the vocal delivery. Nice contrast. This is as smooth as butter and sharp as the thorns on a rose bush....

@bebopchess Already know that .... re-read my post .... It was 1969..high school graduation....followed by hot summer nights...and hot cars....and, of course, this great song and girlfriend. What good times they were. Thanks for the memory
@60otaku3 Good Afternoon, this song brings such precious memories from my childhood. They sure don't play music like this anymore. thanks again for the upload
a very MOODY song..if ever a song could take you back to the sixties , this is it..i faced a lot of stormy days during my high school years.. mostly getting chased home by the black kids ..oh well
@groovy56,.. you have so well stated,. my sentiments, without question! What a rich, resonantly yearning, exquisite, almost trance-like quality Dennis so effortlessly induces..and, yes! the mezmerizing- sax and the "ooo,..ooo, soft 'chorus' mix slipped into the backdrop!..just soo irreplaceably Dennis! I love the nearly 'coarse', almost 'hoarse' sound to his 'whisperingly potent' voice. Incredible command over his breathing and out-put!..he is truly missed, and the gifts left, are beloved Sissy
I got my first 10 speed bike that I saved up my coins allowence and worked for. it was 1968. That was my first mode of transportation before a car..i was 12yrs old.
jenjen7800 - I'm not young, but I do a rendition of it - lol. 60otaku3 strikes again w/ a 60's classic! Excellent audio/video. Regards, '62 Mathew St.
The love of my life (Kathy) and I went to see the Classics IV in concert, at the old Melodyland (in the round) Theater in Anaheim, California. It was June of 1969 and I was on a 2 week leave before shipping out to the big dance over in Southeast Asia. She wrote me just two months later to say that she could not wait for me. Sometimes life is really good and sometimes it really sucks.
@MrRonnieG Well - MrRonnieG - keep in mind, you're attached to a memory, and at least Kathy was direct, upfront, and didn't waste your time. It sounds as if you're stuck on what could've been. I'm sure that really sucked when it happened. Yet, life is good because that part of your life is over. Dead history. Only you can quicken it. But, why?
@MrRonnieG Sorry you had such a memorable, bittersweet memory, Good of the concert and then that heartbreak. How special this song will forever be w/ you, guy. Thanx for serving. I was just a tad too young to be called. Registered for draft as it wound down..........
@MrRonnieG You got it bud... graduating from high school...carefree hot summer nights and hot cars..and of course, this song and girlfriend. Man....what times they were.
60otaku..........Thanks for Ur posts!...U hv good music tastes and we appreciate ur efforts !! It is work putting together these downloads and we listeners tend to take them for granted..Agn......many Thnx.
I stopped listening to any new music in the 70's and played my collection from the 50's through the 70's over and over again and hv never had a reason to change! Todays music of computer synthesis has no appeal to me.
Ah, the Classics IV. I still own their greatest hits album and have four on their songs in my iTunes collection. They had a great sound and just easy to listen to.
Hi 60otaku3...any chance u have a copy to upload of their last hit "So why am I cryin' now"? I had it on a cassette years ago...thanks for this upload.
RIP Dennis Yost...nobody could sing a song like you....and YES I agree with the posts below.....Pop music has spiralled into a cesspool since the 1960s
preciosa melodia muy triste y nostálgica, me recuerda a mi hijo que falleció hace 2 años d tan solo 25 años ahora sergito esta oyendo a dennis en el cielo cerca de Dios. descansen paz.
Thank you Dennis Yost for a truly beautiful song.

I immediately fell in love with this melancholy song the first time I heard it in my room when I was just 11 years old.
But I especially remember being literally 'stopped in my tracks' by the beautiful and ever so melodic and emotive saxophone solo at 1:55 !
(I always wished it was longer)
Even today the entire song puts me in a dreamy and almost hypnotic state of nostalgia; ...and when that sax comes in, it's the icing on the cake!
I can listen to it over and over again. Thanx for posting

This is timeless stuff !....appreciated more as i aged myself.

although nothing could replace the original Classics IV "stormy" song, it'd be kind of cool for someone young today to do a new rendition of it.

Thanks for the comment, caldragon7-san!!
I only have the CD of their hit song collections, but unfortunately I cannot upload it because the song which you hope is not put in that CD.
I am sorry...

This song was released 40 years ago.
In other words it means that pop music declined during 40 years...
