taser / coil gun camera

The coil gun part was new to me. My camera taser is cut down to fit into a 20 pack of cigarettes, people seem impressed by it. I've used these tasers for a knife self defense practice blade, a taser glove, taser arrow and a taser jacket successfully. I'd like to try making a actual arcing taser, I hear a old PC power supply should have most of the necessary components.

You should hook the probes up directly to the flash. This way you can activate it with the shutter button and reduce the risk of shocking yourself.

@functi0norg ... ok 14... pretty much the same thing. Camera capacitors discharge anywhere between 1000v to 4000v depending on the model. Here, educate yourself: go to the howstuffworks site, go to electronics and look up camera flash.

@functi0norg ah! I apologize for my harsh comments. I can see why you would think it looks fake. He used a normal camcorder for the video. To properly capture a spark, you need a high-speed cam that shoots anywhere between 120fps and 200fps. The second arc he gets is completely missed by the cam and all you get are the sparks.

What I have come to find (the hard way) is that rather than letting the capacitor charge up and use it as a taser (which takes too long in a self-defense situation) the leads coming off of the transformer (that go into the capacitor) give off a nice, continuous shock that would definitely make someone jump.

And too bad you couldn't put in a second capacitor from another camera too fire a double-barrel coil gun with electrodes from the first capacitor, oh wait, you can!

I built one, I hae since reokaced it with a complex safe pistol design.

it has a battery on/off button and a safe for the shock.

the pstol shots bb's from a breech-loading design....

its actually really simple to make a taser, you ust purchase some thick gauge wires, and high capacity capacitator, a high amp battery, a switch and a casing. i'm prob forgetting some stuff but thats basically what a taser is.

a disposable camera is practically a pre made coil gun already, all you gotta do is put a coil around a straw and replace the flash bulb with it. As for the taser, its the same thing, just replace the flash bulb with someone's flesh and they're tazed. Its still quite cool though.

ill tell you guys how you do it:

1.remove the batteries

2.remove the film

3.remove the flash by cutting the wires

4.now keep the wires

5.put the batteri back and have fun by shocking :D

since these only work for 1 burst and don't put a current through you target like a real taser should. I extend the wires and use it to electrically ignite homemade fireworks.

the taser is not hard just take out the flash and atach mettle prongs to + and - wire and there u go. carfull it hurts like hell if u tuch it on acident...
