I was pleased to know him, worked with him at Tiger Radio, Myrtle Beach and WNMB, North Myrtle Beach and considered him not only a DJ mentor, he was a friend. Billy may have left us, but his memory will live in our hearts and minds forever as the legendary aficionado of Beach Music!
I was lucky to know Billy all my life. he was my first cousin and I spent many a day at his home. His record collection was amazing and introduced me to many forms of music, not just R&B. He DJ'ed from the time he was 14 years old. His passion for music and for life is what made him a legend.
What a shame. He will be missed for sure. I thought things seemed strange the last couple of weeks hearing Ray Scott in the morning. I was wondering what happened.
Billy, gonna truly miss your voice, humor, and your sincere love of Carolina Beach Music. Followed you since the days of WNMB. May God bless you and your family. Also, thanks for this tribute.
the BS'er was a MB treasure, our earthly airwaves have lost one of the greats. He's spinnin' 'em for God now. Billy Smith will be missed until we can all join him at the Beach Party in Heaven.
