I'm glad I did too... I still shake my head and chuckle to myself when I play this guitar, kinda still hard to believe how good it sounds compared to what I've spent.
Exactly! So why then pour all your hard cash into the guitar when you could step and buy a nice well made USA Strat..? Does not make sense, the Squires are fun to play but not well made....cheap beginners guitars..waste of cash!
Sure... I'm gonna go spend $900+ on a guitar and then take an electric drill to it. That makes A LOT of sense. And another thing... I will not tolerate wild, fantastic claims without proof. I like that people have opinions, but if your opinion is negative or bashing of a company or an individual... keep it to yourself, or your comment will get removed and you will be blocked. The fact of the matter is that Squier has been making very nice, respectable guitars for a few years now.
First off there is no bashing going on, second...what are you talking about? You can buy a nice one for around $500 or $600...fresh out of the box & needs nothing. These are not claims, these are facts. If you can't handle some truth then seek some therapy , better yet....block me. This way you'll feel better knowing that you controlled someone.
@amozartii You can buy an ENTRY level Fender strat for $500 or $600... If I'm gonna spend the money and get something that's what I want out of the box... its gonna be a 62 Reissue or a John Mayer sig... those are $1100+. Saying that Squires are not well made and are a waste of cash is at best your opinion and at worse just plain false. I've played $150 Squiers that sound, play, and feel better than the $600 Fender on the wall next to it. Again, keep your negative opinions to yourself please.
I'm not trying to start a problem, but I do have an opinion. A $600 Strat is not bad at all, and hey I'll meet you halfway..I have a Squire Strat...and it like the damn thing....but I sure as helll wont sink a ton of cash into it.. Do you get my meaning lad..? To tell you the truth is sounds great through my Fender Vintage Chamo amp...John Mayer doesn't shit on this set up....and I can out play him anyday!
@amozartii Ok cool... I agree with what you said here. You're right, a $600 strat isn't bad... its just not what I would be satisfied with if I were to really get exactly what I want. The only reason I'm dropping money into this Squier is because I want to learn how to work on guitars... setups, electronics, hardware work, woodwork. Theres no way I'm gonna risk a 62 Reissue or a $600 standard strat, thats why I bought the $100 Squier =).
Ok, I can dig on that man..I agree. For what they are the are not bad at all...little funky on the neck. Since you have done the conversions, what is your opinion on the neck or frets..?
Sorry to come off as an ass man....I see your point.
@amozartii Neck is a bit thin... which wouldn't be so bad if the frets weren't so small. I think the frets are only mediums, I'm long since gotten used to it though.
dont listen to these fools....I just ordered a bullet in Daphne Blue and i plan on doing the same modss. Its all about making it your own..I've got an american std tele and a strat but i still like buying these cheap guitars and fixing them up. With a little work they can deff keep up with the big dogs...But was there any tuners available that fit the stock holes without any drilling???
I feel you buddy... I like fiddling with stuff. UUHHH... I have no idea about the tuners. I just wanted some locking ones and musiciansfriend had a sale...
@boxingin "All that money"??? What money? I've spent $350, including the cost of the guitar. And besides... how am I gonna learn any luthiership otherwise.
im gonna get this guitar pretty soon i was thinkin about changin the pickup. i want something for van halen style guitar. what pickup do you you think i should choose?
Dimarzio YJM, or maybe the EMG S4... I think Seymore Duncon makes some stacked single coils that would prolly work, but I don't know anything about them.
I don't know for sure, but I will say this. I walked out of the store with the Bullet strat cuz it sounded better than all the other Squier strats under $200. That could mean many things though.
Thanks for giving me hope that my project will work, other ppl i told said it's a squier why bother? That didn't help,i wasn't sure it was even possible.I like it though.should be a learning expeirience either way.
I'd say make more videos for sure man,I bet ppl would like to watch you play watch and watch your progress and fun.
Nice Video mate, I'm planning in getting a Squier Bullet Red, and i was wondering what the colour of the Red is, if it is Bright red or Dark red etc. As i have my Eyes on the Red.
I have a question,I bought a bullet body and neck for 30 bucks and a loaded starcaster pickguard for 20bucks off ebay.what r my chances that my 50 buck squier mutt will work?
i forgot to mention the body wasn't empty someone tried to make it a rock band video game controller.thats why i had to buy the starcaster pickguard.this will be my first attempt at putting together a guitar.i didn't know if it was difficult or if it was possible to put the two together.I also forgot to say nice playing not trashy at all.
Ya dude... it will work. Just pick up some feeler gauges from a hardware store and learn how to do basic setup(google is ur friend). Inexpensive guitars are fun cuz you can mess around with them and not fear hurting them. I cut my teeth on soldering and guitar setup with this squier.
Thx for the props... I should post a vid where I've actually thought about what I'm gonna play and practice instead of just winging it. I would like to get a general consensus on my skills (or lack thereof).
by "could not keep in tune" do you mean, that it came out of tune with in the first few minutes you were playing it, or that it came out of tune if you played it for like an hour or so. I just wanna know how crappy they are.
I would have to tune it before a gig and then again a couple minutes into playing once it warmed up. It would last a good 30-45min of hard playing before I would have to retune it.
Yeah it sounds pretty good, i think it had just a little to much pop at times, but that might be just because you were picking a lil hard or to close to the pickup in use maybe?
hey man, i getin 1 of the babies 2-morrow. i already have a gibson les paul, but i really wonted to experiment with different types of guitars. and since i dont own a strat, im going to start with this 1st. jest tell me 1 thing. do u really get wat u paid 4, or is it a good guitar? any ups and downs?
Its $100... in this case u kinda get what u pay for and you kinda don't. All of the hardware is pretty cheap, the nut is plastic, the saddles are chromed brass instead of steel, the pick guard is single ply, and the finish picks up finger prints. You are getting REAL hardwood though, and the construction is really solid. All it needs is a good setup to be playable. I've spent under $400 after market, and its a completely different guitar now.
I have a really old series squier bullet. It says on the headstock SQUIER STRATOCASTER "BULLET SERIES". Are those the ones that sucked? Because mine doesn't! I think it's even comparable to a mexican Fender!
ya... I spose I could have done that. I actually have the new pups in now and they sound great, but I screwed something up when I was wiring the thing and now the tone knobs don't work... lol. As soon as I change my strings and re-wire the thing I'll post a vid with the new pups.
sorry man u do this guitar no justice LOL
