God is love, because that is the divine nature. God's divine Name is portrayed throughout the Bible, even in such proverbs as "the glory of God is to conceal a matter (forgive sins), but the glory of kings is to uncover secrets (seek out and punish sins)". Love does have to do with pain, because love cares about people that hate it, and doesn't ask for payments as a payment for that love, saying "I DESERVE this!!!"
I can't say we all operate in love - too much leaven there... why? we'll see...
@krononomikon ...wow, I posted that right before I got to the love acronym part... I'm sorry, Paul Chek, but are you serious? Paul, don't be given in to such delusions... You ought to know that all kinds of worthless, hateful acts come from a desire to want to live comfortably, and to stay alive. Brother even betrays brother to death, and is that ever love? No, but love is selfless, and a person can love and yet hate their own life by comparison.
@krononomikon and Jesus also said that no one had a greater love than to lay down his life for his friends. God loves and God always chooses love. Punishments come because people are too ignorant, and must be taught by alternative means. The child doesn't know not to cross the street or he may be killed, so the parent says "no", and when the child refuses to listen, they get beaten so that they might stay alive.
@krononomikon but that love is not the child's love for itself, because its love for itself leads to its own death, but the parents' love for the child is for their own well-being. But to say that love equates to a desire to live yourself, that's the desire of everyone except those in terrible pain, and they only want to die because they think that no feeling is better than that feeling :| both those desires for either life or death has to do with a desire for being comfortable - love is more
We are the undeserving recipients upon whom He lavishes that love. His love was demonstrated when He sent His Son into the world to “seek and save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10), and to provide eternal life to those He sought and saved. He paid the ultimate sacrifice for those He loves.
God’s love is displayed most clearly at the Cross, where Christ died for the unworthy, “dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph 2:1), not because we did anything to deserve it, “but God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8). The object of agape love doesn't do anything to merit His love.
Agape love is of and from God, whose very nature is love itself. The Apostle John affirms this in 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” God does not merely love; He is love itself. Everything God does flows from His love. But it is important to remember that God’s love is not a sentimental love such as we often hear. God loves because that is His nature and the expression of His being. He loves the unlovable and the unlovely (us!) not because we deserve love but because it is His nature to do so.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4...
I usually get so much out of your books and agree with what you say, however, not with this video. You need to check for facts on religion so many people. The Communists and Nazis are responsible for the deaths of hunddreds of millions of people. Look at the French revolution and what happened because of it. I know formal religions have done much harm but they also have done much good. I know it is the fashion to bash religion now days but I did not think you were one to go with the crowd.
love is such an old word, its hard to believe that it was perpously created with this idea in mind, then again most words where not jut made up but did come from a deeper meaning...
Is there going to be a sequel to this video? Or how can I get the video companion to How to Eat Move and Be Healthy? Before I knew who Paul Chek was I read books by Anthony De Mello, talks about love in the same way. I feel lighter, somehow, everytime I see one of these videos.
