    Peq

  • Need to check audio track. Sounded a bit too slow and low. Great vid!

  • The first time I saw this movie I fell in love with Ricky Nelson. And I'm still in love with him.

    Thanks for this video.

  • @jessicarabbit290 You're welcome! Thanks for watching :)

  • The songs from Rio Bravo are so super. Rick Nelson is my 2nd favorite singer, 2nd only to Elvis. If I could have any singing voice I'd choose Rick Nelson's any day. I would choose Elvis songs, mostly but some of Rick's are great too. They died too young, but thanks to technology we still keep them alive. They won't ever leave my building unless I'm gone too. Now, I've done a damn good job of making me self sad. Dog gone it anyhow!

  • fantastic

  • @bonniebardowski thank you :)

  • very nice. I'm impressed.

  • @zamusicza thank you :)

Thank you so much for this download,

Ricky was a great actor & one of my favorite singers.

    thanks.

  • @MrStablelad Thank you for the nice comment, my friend :)

  • Thank you for this. Growing up in Singapore this brings so many wonderful memories with family and friends .

Ricky Nelson was such a beautiful human being with a golden voice !

    Truly missed by all.

  • I'm always pleased to hear from fellow fans of Ricky. Thank you for the comment :)

  • Thank you so much for this beautifully done tribute. I was not aware of this film until now and would like to see it. Is it available on DVD for sale to the public? In any case, every time I see Rick Nelson perform, I am reminded of how he was taken so young, so tragically.

  • Thank you for your kind words :)

Yes indeed this movie is available on DVD and can be purchased either online or in a store. In fact I own one myself.

    Best wishes :)

  • I remember the New Year's eve when I was on my way home from work and heard on the radio that Rick and his musical family had been killed on that plane. I had to pull over and stop. It was like a part of me had died with them. I grew up with Rick and his family. Wish he was still here with us all.

  • It's hard to imagine he died all that while ago. His music still sounds as fresh now, and I'm hearing some songs I never heard before, posted by his many fans on YT. Thanks for the comment :)

  • this is my absolute favorite john wayne western. thanks for sharing this video and to all who have placed videos about rio bravo. red river runs second in my book and undefeated.

  • you're welcome, thanks for stopping by :)

  • Rio Bravo and Red River are my favorite westerns. Howard Hawks was a genius.

  • A little trivia about the filming of Rio BRavo. Ricky Nelson got so caught up in learning to handle the gun and quick draw that he didnt learn his lines well. His brother David flew to the location and helped Ricky cram for his scenes. He finally learned his lines thanks to big brother.

  • Thanks very much for sharing this with us :)

  • nice

  • I just watched rio bravo and didn't here lonesome town in the movie at all. why's this a rio bravo tribute?

  • I miss the days when the good guys always won

  • i just have to say ricky nelson is hot

  • good job . where did you, get the back up music ?

  • Maybe you other Ricky Nelson fans can help me on this one. I could swear that when I was a child i had a single 45 that had a song called Rio Bravo sung by Nelson. It wasn't the rifle and pony song, but a different one entitled rio bravo. I don't recall what was on the other side. it had nothing to do with dean martin or other stars in the movie.

Do you know of any such song? I have looked and googled it but all i get is the movie stuff.

    Thanks, Marsha

  • Well not exactly. Over the closing credits to the film, Dean Martin (not Ricky Nelson), backed by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, sings a specially composed song, "Rio Bravo." However, Ricky Nelson later paid homage to both the film and his character, Colorado, by including the song "Restless Kid" on his 1959 LP, Ricky Sings Again.

  • Thank you for the information, I didn't know the song was called "Rio Bravo". :)

  • My comments were to mpap100's inquiry about a song called Rio Bravo. The song you posted here is indeed Lonesome Town.

  • this is a movie from 1959... there's opening credits, not closing credits. I believe the movie just ends with "the end" and there are no closing credits. So what's this song ur talking about and why is "lonesome town" a tribute to rio bravo.... that song isn't even in the movie.

  • Restless Kid was written by Johnny Cash. It was suppose to be in Rio Bravo. The powers that be, nixed the idea. I love Restless Kid.

  • what song was on the other side of lonesome town? wasn't there a recording by ricky nelson of a song called rio bravo??

    thanks.

  • Lonesome Town was coupled with I Got A Feeling, an uptempo number also written by Baker Knight which was a hit in its own right. Johnny Cash wrote a song called Restless Kid for the film, Ricky recorded it but it was never used, the director preferred to have Ricky duet with Dean Martin on My Rifle My Pony And Me. Restless Kid was a typical Cash composition, the lyrics told the story of the film in two minutes, it would have been perfect. You can hear it by searching for it on YouTube :)

  • I just watched this movie last night... It is my favorite All-Time Westerns... Great Video...good job on it!!!

    Happy 2009 New Year's

    David

  • Thank you, and happy new year to you too!

  • Rio Bravo was one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw that movie at the Palace theatre in Washington, D.C., in 1959, when it was first released. It seems like a lifetime away now. Further, Rick Nelson's Lonesome town is also a favorite of mine, which I play all the time on my guitar (C, Em, F, G7).

Thanks for posting this clip as it brought back fond memories.

  • Thanks for your nice comment, it's one of my favourite movies too :)

  • thanks :)

  • Tak zaczeła się jego kariera Rick N a sam film klasyka

  • Great job!

  • Glad you like it, thank you for the comment :)

  • Not bad, I'd let you sing to me.

  • I'd like that :)

  • Rick was in "Here Comes the Nelson" wich was made to see if "The Nelsons" would be liked. The movie was a hit, so they started up the tv show.

  • I haven't seen this movie in years - it's clear that I need to view it again! The song is beautiful and haunting, and this is a nice tribute to the film and its stars, especially Ricky.

  • ...and thank you for the nice comment :)

  • That's a wonderful cover! Great voice!!!

    Chris :o)

  • Glad you like it, thanks for the comment :)

  • thank you for the comment, we share the same taste in music :)

  • .awesome job....;)

  • Thank you, JMFJCAS :)

  • I just love western movies and songs! Ricky Nelson, the teen idol, starred Rio Bravo with John Wayne. That film was financially very successful, since it earned over US $5.5 million, which was a very good profit for movie producers at that time.

This was another great video to add to my favorites, sweet Pequinito. Thanks a lot for sharing it with us!

  • Thanks for the information, Romina... yes, Ricky was 18 when he made the movie, a teen idol. I'm glad you like western songs, I'd love to hear you sing Patsy Cline, or Dolly Parton, I think you'd be great!

    TQM :)
