Here is some information that is TRUE. Research and it will check out. Progressive is the worst insurance company in America. If you have a Progressive claim, they will not allow your parts to be replaced with original parts that are on your vehicle. They WILL use aftermarket and they wont pay the repair shop enough to fix your car properly. Aftermarket parts are imitation parts that do not fit properly. Keep your good insurance, AAA, State Farm, Mercury, USAA.

Nah its OK its a good question. Im in California and it is the law that you can choose your own shop. Having said that,Progressive will make it sound like, if you choose your own shop that the work wont be guaranteed and it will take longer.The insurance company always will tell the shop which parts to use. If the shop can show the insurance company that the parts wont fit , then they can be changed to OEM.I believe most if not all states allow you to choose a repair facility.

Thanks for the reply on this. I have worked in insurance claims for 20 years, but NEVER property loss/vehicle claims so I am fairly ignorant, at least as much as any consumer on these little matters that turn out to be a big deal.
