Kobe was in his prime a few years ago....coinciding around the time after Jordan's final retirement. Truth is, males start losing prime abilities around age 30, when muscles start to reduce.

A "youngster" Kobe is still a full MAN and was well in his prime.

Michael Jordan in his prime would likely be more flexible in tight situations, ones where it was incredible to get out of. This particular one, possibly so as well.

KB was about 24 back then, his physical condition is better than now. Yes now Kobe is more skilled, but his is slower and he can't hold his opponent like he used to. If you watch his games now, you can see his step is much slower and not able to catch up young star most of time.
