Hey, thanks for posting this... it is unfortunate ther is no posting of this Lightfoot song as performed by him. The lyrics are so poigniant and you have done a great job in capturing its essence!
Also, not an easy song to play and sing, well done!
I'm Canadain and I didn't realize that we say sorry differnt. It sounded like you said it right. However I have heard a few Americans say "Sarry" but I didn't think they all did.
Hey here, Zu(nathan)Zu! Yeah, it's funny. I have many Canadian friends and I love English from their mouthes. Very subtle differences. I envy you your country in so very many ways. I don't give them any hardships of their "eh," either. J
Well I'm glad you like my country. Your country can learn a thing or two from us. For instance if your are Canadians will give the same medical treatment to rich and poor, sick and healthy, an dit doens't cost you a penny. Socialized health care all the way!
By the way. Most Canadians will actually say "eh" more on purpose when there is an American in the room.
Hey jaybob, good job dude. It takes a certain amount of courage to post a video of yourself playing and opening it up to critique from the ominous public. Keep on playin' !!
CHEEEF Inspector Clouseau62n, that is. Hello there. Thank you for your kind words. And yes, isn't that just what the spirit of You Tube is all about? It ain't easy puttin' yourself out there. But I love that people do it. So happy you enjoyed the effort, humble though it is. w00t! J
Thanks for singing this song. I'd give it a shot myself. But every time I try to sing it sounds like I'm stubbing my toe. And every time I pick up a guitar it sounds like I ran a red light and gave someone a bad day.
Hey there, BB282! Boy, don't I know what you're talking about. But somehow I just had to give it a whirl. Your encouragement is planted and will no doubt sprout another cover some day. Thank you. J
Good lad! This is a great performance of a great song. Few kids in Manchester, England speaking - we were looking for the Nico version and we were glad to hear this version of Lightfoot's tune and a half instead. Salutations from GTR MCR.
You are out of tune in several parts of the song. You also get the words wrong in a few places, "maybe" becomes "baby," in a number of places. Not entirely sure if you realize the conceited nature of the song but then I guess you can sing it anyway you want to - unconcieted, out of tune, and words changed.
Ok, I can live with that. I will be the first to say I could use voice lessons. I'll have to get those words right, though. Thanks for the helpful hints. J
Nice job! One of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs, but I hadn't heard the whole song before! I do this one, except I've only the 1st verse, followed by "Ribbon of Darkness" -that's the only version I'd heard until now! Thanks!
Hey there, jdfranca! Well, actually, that is what I did. I just started searching for the right chord and went from there. Starts with a D and then I slid down in the Dm configuration and then back up and then down and then back up and then to the G, A and D. I've had to figure out quite a few songs prior to internet, so I've never even searched for this one. Thank you for your kind words! J
Good point. Thanks for the reminder. I was going to do that when I got her, was I not? As I recall, anyway. But I have some clam pics to share first. HA!!!
You play this wounderfully...is there any place to find these tabs..the way you play it is beautiful

Thank you, M. I know the version of which you speak. He goes right into Ribbon of Darkness. I play that one, too. Cute song, this one.

Thanks, I'll try that. Have you ever heard Nico's version? I think it's even nicer than Gordon's. You can find it here in youtube if don't know it.
