I think the word "simulated" should be included in the app (and video description) name cos it's not real holography. It's still pretty cool though, just a shame that the term is getting thrown around at all sorts of things that aren't holographic.

@coolpear25 Yup, it works fine on an iPod Touch. The only thing you can't do is take pictures because it doesn't have a camera. But you can still take screenshots (using home + power button) or download photos to your library and use those.

The best place to start is Apple's own developer website. Do a search for iPhone SDK and start with Apple's sample apps and work your way up from there.

Yeah, I use Apple's software developer kit. You can try it out for free and write apps for their iPhone simulator. Do a search for "apple iphone sdk".

I rly like that App, but on my Iphone it doesn't really look like a hologram :( On your Iphone it looks amazing but even the example holograms are looking that bad, I'm a bit dissapointed :(

It takes a bit of practice. Try moving the iPhone around slower and also try experimenting with the settings.

(a simple gradient func seems like a v useful addition too)

Yeah, I'd love to have a way to pass the holograms around, but it's a long term project. Also, the gradient seems like a good idea...

So far, the interface to the camera is very limited so I can't use it as a background or track objects in the view. But that's a cool idea. =)

would it be possible to change the background to the iphone's camera? and then maybe use motion tracking to make the hologram change size when you move the camera further away and closer to the object the cameras on?
