The entire idea behind this defense system is destroyed by one of the oldest tactics. With the use of decoy rounds [solid iron] the laser beam would target them for a greater amount of time attempting to destroy them, allowing others projectiles to pass through its range. By firing the first shot slower[steeper angle] then the others the beam would target it to no success while the others strike their target.
It's a great idea an all, but like everything else, it has its flaws.

It's useless when stealth or semi stealth nuked warhead heading our way. Even if we succeed intervene with mentioned weapon, radiation and dust will eventually kill us all. Nano push projectile launch-able from low orbit defense satellite that will accurately kill off all the incoming radioactive projectile from all direction before it even close to international water or 1000 miles from the border. The satellite should also capable 2 detect t radioactive particles by the nano scale.
