I'm a proud Englishman (a southerner at that...) but this brought me to tears. I was mad about football as a kid when Bill Shankly was in his prime. Me and my mates 'followed' southern clubs but we always had a huge respect for Liverpool FC and Bill Shankly. We were amazed that the Kop would respect and applaud visiting goalkeepers - something the other clubs rarely did. The scouse humour always came through as well... I guess they'll never be another Shankly. Respect..... R.I.P. Bill Shankly

I was at Mr Shankly's memorial service in '81 at the Anglican Cathedral when the lone piper played Amazing Grace walking down the aisle. Man, woman and child all cracked up. There were a lot of tears. Still sadly missed. God bless you Mr Shankly. YNWA.
