caught my biggest bass (bass is perch right? ) "au mort magner" not sure what its called in english its where you use a dead fish with a hook attached to him to fish he was about 40cm long and was pretty heavy i didn't have any scails on me though.

@LandThatFish Rod wt matters-to a point. I personally think that the line is more important. A fast action tip 6-8 wt will cast a big popper with a regular WF floater better than a 5 will. If there is not heavy cover or strong wind, I use a mid flex 5 wt with a bass taper line, you can throw 40' easily. The fight is much more fun. otherwise its my 8 wt hand cannon. The cast is all timing, wait for the "bump" on the back cast before shooting to maximize the rods power.

Not really. Basic rules for a succesful cast is not to bend your wrist, and to only swing your forarm to your shoulder and not beyond. Type in fly fishing lessons, that's how i learned to fly fish.
