what a great sation and what a great dj's as Dave Lee Stone, Charly Wolfe, Dave Chainey a.m.o.....in the 90's the ship The Communicator was lying in the IJsselmeer in Flevoland Holland and it was used by Holland FM and later Veronica 1224 ..... I've had good memories of the stations and the ship
CHURNING...CHURNING...entertaining yes...suppose the lousy bbc told him to say that...rip laser and all the pirates...ONE DAY...ONE BLOODY DAY..we will have a radio station 4 the masses again
Yes! Laser558. Live from the North Sea. Laser. This is Laser 558. Live from the North Sea. Next up is "french kissing in the USA" yes laser 558 etc etc.
The day Laser 558 stopped, was the saddest day in radio for me. It was a real pleasure to meet Charly Wolfe and Jessie Brandon in Amsterdam in 2009. Is there anyone who nows what happened with Chris Carson after she left the ship ?

Yeh. The other stations were jealous of the satelitte LASER technology that meant it had the best quality signal that has ever been heard on a radio set. Anyway, the IBA stations couldn't stand LASER because it was beyond CD quality using cartridge technology to blast out power across the North Sea which amplified the signal ten fold every 5 km that it travelled so by the time it reached shore it was like a tsunami of signal excellence!!
What a bunch of bollocks but they did have a good signal and reasonable fidelity for AM. Caroline had better fidelity with their Optimod audio processor.
You obviously know nothing about radio or AM LASER technology.. Why do you think they had so many tanks of helium on board? It was to power the top secret LASER crystal technology. The reason it was out at sea was as a test run to see if the technology actually worked but in a safe environment in case the cold fusion technology actually caused a melt down!As everyone knows it DID work, but the IBA and DTI brought LASEr to its knees before its technology could be shared.
What a load of twoddle !

I could only pick up Laser 558 after midnight in NW England when it came booming in, other times it was poor.

Ha ha, good wind up. Well you know the lyrics to the song then.
As to the rest, helium etc. ask the people that worked on the station, they know.
And you're quite correct I know nothing about radio, if that keeps you happy.
