  • Neither way the live versions of the songs are always different than the studio versions. You can go to 20 Metallica concerts and the 20 are going to sound different. The same with other bands. Sometimes they played very close to the studio versions but sometimes they just jam out the songs, like by feeling or something on the night. I think they do that because imagine playing a song hundreds of times the same way, you're going to get bored and tired to play the same shit.

  • Lars plays the double bass sometimes and sometimes don't. It is like the way he feels on the night. For example in the Mexico concert he plays this song with double bass and sounds a 1000 times better.

  • Where is the epic double pedal?? Ah Lars your growing old on us...

  • I hear the difference but i still think this is a veary good verson of the song, because when it is live it's not supposed to be just as in studio. So even though Lars misses a lot it is a great song.

  • NOT ACCURATE. Pay attention to studio vs this..... most fans cannot hear the difference... so sad, so many hundreds of notes missed.... anyway, those with REAL ears know thar Lars missed over 1000 notes in this version and it is garbage... sorry poseurs, but he STILL sucks!

  • And btw why is everyone complaining about his drumming. He doesn't fail once during the odd time signatures and that stuff but all of you are just complaining about the double bass being missing... Thats a bit... yeah...

  • @BrodinBrothers22 Um because it makes the song. It would be like hearing angel of death with out the double bass. so saying thats a bit yea is idiotic.

  • @tranquilizedMetal I'm just saying that it's more to this song than the double bass in the verse...

  • @BrodinBrothers22 um not really. the odd time signatures are not that difficult. the double bass makes the song.

  • @BrodinBrothers22 someone already said what I would have said. no double bass is a big deal with this song it doesnt sound the same by any means. If he can't play it the way it was written dont play it.

  • @SludgePunkGrunge But you got to give him credit for the making all the progressive, odd time stuff.

  • @BrodinBrothers22 not really its not that hard.

  • lol I just noticed that the intro is in 7/4!

  • 0:56 Awesome drums ! ;D

  • Innocence, torn from me without your shelter....Barred reality, I'm living BLINDLEHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh. Epicness

  • oh god, come on lars, where are yout feet?

  • At Lars gs

  • fuckin sick solo kirk nailed it

  • Cmon Lars you need your spark back :(

  • 0:37 FUAAAAA!

  • Dyers Eve, Shortest Straw, Disposable Hero, Blackened, Battery ... Fucking Awesome Gods!

  • @JeanMetallicA Gods of WHAT? He did not play this song right, AT ALL!!! Are you DEAF?

  • That's a mayhem stadium!!

  • Innocence, Torn from me without your shelter......Barred reality, I'm living blindlyyyyy

  • This is like metallicas best song so far, and the crowd dont even care? That's lame. Good show nonetheless

  • WHERE THE F&CK IS THE DOUBLE BASS?

SADLY LARS IS GETTING OLD =(

  • @URMBC he couldnt do it back in the day hes always been terrible with double bass.

  • @znedrow4 really? listen to blackened

  • @UnbelievablyRanged listen to it live. what you hear on the album is not what you hear live. timing is way off.

  • I don't get why they play a the intro tape, they could just actually play it tehmselves, they play it somewhere in the middle too, but faster...

  • it has 666 likes, I don't want to ruin this number :'(

  • @morningdaynight me neither! :P

  • @morningdaynight I seriously thumbed up seconds later....... Sorry. It was just a natural reflex - I listened to Metallica, right? :D

  • @LowBatteryFilms oh fuck it, let's thumb up then :D

  • 1:45 WHO THE FUCK MADE THIS DVD??? (Error on drums)

  • Like to see people play this at their age

  • who wrote this solo ,,, is FUCKIN Genius !!!!

  • @MetallicAFan707 kirk did

  • kirk nailed that fuckin solo

  • Ugghh...all of you whiners..Lars IS playing the double kick, although not the same as the album, where he does kick hits under the snare. On here he cuts those out to make it a bit easier. Big deal. When Justice came out I knew that that song was going to be a task to play live. Fuck it. There are better musicians than Metallica, but their songs suck. Slayer only has a few songs that are worth a shit, and they are CERTAINLY not better guitarists, singers or bassists.

  • @pflo99 i disagree with what you said about slayer there music is just as good but a different style that does not appeal. but lars and lombardo are two great drummers dave is just faster and the vocals are near impossible to replicate. but lars and metallica are great.

  • wow..... I was severely disappointed

  • I know this song is fast... but they're amazing!! this fucking space speed ; oo

  • The stage is huge!!!!!

  • its good even without double bass. but pls if someone could answer why does lars sometimes double bassing and sometimes not? is it about age or he just don't want to? cuz I know some young drummers fast double bassing and I acually don't think that they're better than lars :D

  • @aymallica Who knows. You never know because sometimes he'll suprise you with fight fire with fire or trapped under ice ect with DB but then you dont hear it sometimes in the same concert with other songs. If hes just lazy or is at 50% maybe he should try heal toe and it should be easy for him.

  • its very rare seeing rob with a four string!! aha

  • 3:22 to 3:35 most epic scene I've ever seen

  • ;D

  • 1:25 at this part I always hear "Hidding from this thing that they call wife" :S

  • @soap1294mctavish "life:

  • @zxc892 I know, but i tried to be sarcastic... but that just was failed

  • They played that spot on! Just as Lars's arms don't fall of in the next 20 years, they should still be able to play this in 2031. Then I can die....

  • DId everyone die in the crowd?

  • do i see a bullet belt on james and see some head banging in the crowd? FUCK YA I DO!!!!!

  • @THEGATHERING20.Dude.Come on.Who you trying to kid.Ive seen both bands multiple times. The weak link in Metallica is Lars.Sorry bro.One Slayer show is equal to 3 hrs of Metallica.Way more energy required. And if you watch Dave hes more than able to go longer.Hes never tired even at his age.Lars simply cant play his fast doubles any longer. My opinion. He didnt play the doubles in St Anger as well.Every Slayer song is wide open.90 mph.

  • @jagdawg67 So you're saying the weak link in Metallica is one of the greatest metal co-song writer and co-founder of one of the greatest metal bands ever?

  • @jackbutton169 No actually if you read back through I never mentioned writing material.I commented on Lars laziness or lack thereof drum skills on double bass..As far as writing music and lyrics they let the best go for Kirk Hammett do boy.Metallica will make an album with Mustaine now and watch his writing bring back the true sound of Metallica.MetalliDeth!!!!!!LMAO..

  • The crowd sucks big time..................Dyers Eve is much better song than sandman......sandman is just one of Metallica's many gr8 songs........itz popular b'coz its their first mainstream hit song.......

  • I think Lars never should change his drum kit from ...And Justice For All period.

  • actually miss how they would actually play the intro without a tape

  • from 0:00 to 0:38 you can see, Metallica is a bit faster than light^^

  • 2:49 LOL snare!

  • @xxArcanox HAHA you're right. Ridiculous

  • hey man, this is the best video quality I've seen on youtube, fucking perfect...

  • ...french twats and pillheads. spoilt friggin brats. never liked this posho nation...

  • god bless metallica

  • Metallica - the best live band ever ...

  • Comment removed

  • (bang head here) <---

  • James have a bulletbelt!

  • Well, except for the lack of double-bass drum in the verses, that is...

  • @CorruptedSouls Did he ever play that double bass live?

  • @albertogrodriguez I seriously hope he did, at least back in the late 80's, early 90's, if they ever played that song, I think they were so afraid to play the ...And Justice For All album because of its complexity, that they rather went the "medley" way. What a shame.

  • @albertogrodriguez

I didn't hear a double bass in this song.

  • Lars was on fire!!! \m/

  • that's foking best performed yeeeeeeeeeah \m/

  • at least we know where he jacked this video from i love watermarks

  • Hi, I'm Johny McAsshole.

Lars Ulrich sucks balls. In fact, I don't even know who the fuck he his and I hate him because everyone else does. Metallica? Never heard about, I'm stuck on MCR. Anyways, he sucks. HEY FUCKTARDS, you might need to clean up your fuckin ears! And recognize that he's a great musician, and that without him, there would be NO Metallica and probably NO Megadeth neither. Wanna start a Hetfield/Mustaine fight?? NO, 'cause I'm not fucking 14 and I can ENJOY both. Period.

  • Thraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash.... mutha f*cker

  • love how they dont make a big deal that there playing the song

  • Best thrash song ever.

  • seriously, Alcoholica from quebec, get this song perfecly, well the double base drum perfecly lol they play this song better than metallica

  • it would be better if lars used double kick heaps not galloping

  • @CHISOXFAN35 i know they're two completely different genres, but i believe the guys from Tool could play just as well if not better, in their own respective styles

  • stupid, quiet crowd. if this was in south america, crowd would be the craziest possible

  • @kattastrofe i know. their best sounding perfomances seem to have the quietest crowds :/

    Geezus

  • @Sarentor Have you seen the Lars Ulrich interview? I cant remember when exactly it was but Lars said he would beat the shit out of anyone who said Death Magnetic was bad xD

  • @CHISOXFAN35 Who in their 40s could play this better? Perhaps every other metaldrummer at that age? It's just Ulrich who is being a lazy motherfucker not willing to practice. Hetfields guitarskills are saving the band here.

  • lars is awesome, all are ok :DD

  • Fucking amazing!!!!!

  • Lars is old and has authoritis and can't do double bass at all anymore hahaha

  • @AzNpowangeFTW I wanna see you play this song with the double bass. I don't think you can even imaging how hard this is. and as everyone might know, Lars is not a Joey Jordison

  • @PiuzVIII Considering lars has been playing longer then I have been alive says something...

  • @CHISOXFAN35 They don't even listen. They have their hate ready to go before the song even starts...

  • love the light show

  • Kirk wrote on his guitar "H comes to life" LOool....pause it at min 3:45

  • James have a bulletbelt, awsome. Still an old school

  • @komlentor87 He had it 86' in Sweden:) It's fking awesome :)!

  • Needs more bass drum...

  • Rob looks like he's gonna blow up not using a pick for this song

  • You know you're legit when you can sing the lyrics and play guitar with your eyes shut.

  • From the days when the anger could be felt in James's lyrics, They are now at another point in their lives and it kinda shows here but what the heck Metallica will always rule no matter what, I actually sent this song to my piece of shit Dad and he didn't like it very much..

  • do you guys think James nearly shat himself when he saw the pyro.

  • 4 people thinks that double bass its the only important thing in this song...

  • Faster in Live than in Studio version Metallica FTW!!

  • I love how lars can't play this song anymore.

  • crowd:wtf is this shit we want enter sandman!

  • it sounds fuckin' amazin guys

  • Man...I pray that they will last at least 20 years...they're getting better and better.

  • This was ALWAYS my favorite Metallica song ever and I always felt it was their most underrated song! The solo is awesome in this song how it builds and builds!

  • @devilsgrin6 Right,me too

  • Is that intro. a recording?

  • @justincross72393

Yeah, i dont know why. when they first started playing it in 04 they used to play the intro. whats wierder here is that the intro is still in standard tuning lol

  • @MexicanSeadude Doesnt really make any sence concidering thats not even the "hard" part of the song. lol Are they tuned down like a half step here?

  • @justincross72393

Yeah, I noticed that too. In E it`d have sounded better.

  • if Metallica blesses a crowd with Dyer's Eve, there better be blood

  • Old fools lol!

  • stupid crowd : "dah what is this??? i wanna hear enter sandman!"

  • 5:05 james: Fuck thats hot o.o

  • Uff TEsooos!

  • 3:34 i love kirk solo

  • awwww no double-bass :(

  • @comeonewtf why no double bass?

  • @junkgoatextreme Ok there is double-bass, but you know it's not as much as on the album. I admit I can't do it either! But still, I wish I could hear it like it was on the album

  • They played the recording of the original tuning...why?

  • @danielmrtns It's on Fade to Black man

  • 4 people love Rebecca black...

  • I know many of us forget that this shows wouldnt be as awesome or even possible without many other ppl hard @ work.

Lighting & Effects crew, you ROCK.

  • Lars, where's my double-bass that you promised me??

  • @IVnerd17 it all depends on how much you practice.

if you can play every song at double the speed you want to play it, no problem.

but obviously he cant and neither can most drummers
