@ZeroDisease Some people are reporting that it has gotten rid of the 'digger' fungus under their toe nails and finger nails - and in order to do that, you have to clean up the blood!  Seems like a real possibility, since the NRF2 regulates so many genes - and it's a genetic issue. Protandim is so new, I doubt anyone has even used it for sickle cell, but I'd like to hear back from anyone with sickle cell who has used Protandim for a year.

Sickle cell affects those on the equator, not just Africa. I have the trait from my dad's side of the family and his side is Puerto Rican. It happened to combat Malaria, the blood cells will not allow Malaria to stick to them. It is not just in people with darker skin.

What is sickle cell trait?

Sickle cell trait is a condition in which there is one gene for the formation of sickle hemoglobin and one for the formation of normal hemoglobin. Sickle cell trait occurs in one out of every 10 African Americans. Usually, people with sickle cell trait do not have any medical problems and they can lead normal lives. They do not develop sickle cell disease

in africans malarial disease iz not at verge bcz they r sickle cell aneamic ....as malarial parasite can grow only in a red blood cell which must not b sickle shaped so zath only they can complete their life cycle in a mature R. B. C.....iz that true....???

@zelunika Yes that is true, In patients with Sickle Cell Anemia who live in an area where Malaria is common, the disease has proven to be beneficial in preventing them from contracting malaria. But this is not always the case.

@elihall123 actually i have sickle cell disease and it does not prevent me or other sicklers to get malaria what your thinking of is the sickle cell trait which does prevent who ever has from getting malaria which is how the disease came about because the trait is a defense againts malaria ironicly if me or any other sickler gets malaria we would most likely die if not soon treated aint that a bitch

@chokoboy5578 actually nothing prevents anyone from getting malaria, if anyone contracts malaria, people with sickle cell disease wont (will not) die from it, and people who r carriers of sickle cell have a better chance of fighting malaria.

@chokoboy5578 Actually, you are wrong. I appreciate that you have HbS, however you should know that HbS does afford you protection against Malaria. It is the exact same mechanism. Malaria, caused by a parasite entering and reproducing within healthy red blood cells, causes HbS cells to sickle before they can become a host producing other malaria parasites. The sickled cells are destroyed by the body's immune response and the disease does not progress well.
