Islam requires both partners to sign their contracts in front of witnesses.

You do not even have to have an Imam there!

The most Important thing in Islam is that you're marriage be public

@fadmucker08 well islam allows men to marry more women then one, but also says to marry one if its tough 2 maintain many, the justification is during war when lots of men died, arab women widowed, were willing to remarry but since their was no sharia, this law helped them 2 live a respectable life instead of living alone n taking hardships :)

the other justification is one has to learn to exist as a society n not think of me me me, no muslim is a muslim if he eats well while his neighbors starve

@coochafudom That's interesting. How old might she be? Is there a minimum age for a bride? Are they arranged marriages? When I lived in different parts of Africa the brides could be very young but life is so different there. How old does a girl/woman have to be to be married then?

@fadmucker08 well in most parts of Europe u can get married the youngest 17 (i think!!) with parents permission.. u dont hav arranged marriages here,. its not illegal but they just dont do it .. i think from friends and family the youngest I have seen personally get married was 21.. so the minimum age for a bride is 17 with parents permission. :)

@coochafudom Tahnk you. You say in Europe, what about if it's not in Europe? Where are you from? What's the minimum age there? You read stories of 12 year olds, and even younger, getting married, is there any truth in that? We do have arranged marriages in Europe. I know a couple of girls I went to school with that had to travel back to Pakistan to marry men they didn't want too. I felt awful for them. I am trying to understand the culture. Do you agree with Polygamy?

Totally agree. The only Muslim 'ritual' is the nikah where the Muslim woman gives her permission to be married to the Muslim man. In Islam, the nikah is the wedding - anything extra is cultural. However practising cultural rituals not against Islam is obviously fine. Anyway, congratulations to the bride! Wish you a very happy married life. =D

I think these are more of cultural-Asian rituals rather than Muslim, eventhough I don't understand the language. But, it's still a muslim wedding because the peaople are Muslims :) Conrats!
