Why isn't the video labeled with the song and in the tags? People may not find it. This song name is "So Tired" and it's from their 1967 album The Time Has Come.
@Funkadelic1717 Thanks, you are correct, I must have cut and paste from another video because they say it right here on the show! I guess the album Oh, My God! was to be released in 1972, but I read that it wasn't and I don't see where one can find it. It's not on discogs (dot) com either.
we use to play with those crackers .but we know you have to watch them at all times we will never forget slavery they steel and slole everything from us even rock
One of my favorite bands of all TIME. They started with soul/gospel then got psychedelicized, but it's great to see they always came back to their roots. Best vocal soul ever IMHO. @hollywoodhick please do tell more of the gig with Willy. Didn't know he was still playing out.. very cool!
what a great band! cool video too with john lennon and yoko ono wandering in between numbers. and who's that white boy in the back? he can really play.
T.J. Tindall, the white boy on guitar in the back left, I knew many, many moons ago. He was in a band called "Duke Williams and the Extremes". They played a lot back then at John & Peter's Place in New Hope Pa. GREAT session guitarist.
i roadied for these guys....best ever...way fun...we toured with Alice Cooper and Blue Oyster Cult in the early 70's..."Time" and "Love, Peace and Happiness" were their only charted hits but you see they channeled the Impressions with Curtis Mayfield and Jerry Butler.
We did a free concert in Columbia, S.C. to register voters and they headlined a daylong event with local musicians which was very successful although you might not realize that watching that idiot governor Sanford.
Man How Cool is This. The Chamber Brothers with John and Yoka Asking for their autographs. Mike Douglas was also geting the hippest music guest for his show although he was a serious "L7".
I recently got into some of the other stuff the Chamber Bros did (outside of 'Time Has Come' and i'm really digging it. Along with Black Merda and Cyanade.
That Phsycedelic Soul stuff of the late 60s early 70s was really were it was at and we've lost that in today's "soul" music.
its those damn paleface whiteys, that made it difficult for sly and the rest to continue their shit, as well as the dumb ass black folks who thought rock wasnt black music, so thats why this music transformed itself into deep funk
Also Mike Douglas, man, was a real square dude!....but he always put some of the ASS-KICKINGEST music on his show!!! Hats off to Mike, his mind was WIDE OPEN, man!
I agree with joedodge, the music was SO CRAZY GOOD back in The Day! This shit is some REAL music!!!! Got a real GROOOOOOOVE, not some wack drum sample n' synth burps n' shit! Giants walked the earth, back in those days!
Man this is what was so good about music from this time. It was such a mixture, everyone would play together and support one another. Don't see anything like this today. These guys were real talent.
DOPE!!! Damn Mike Douglas is throwback, lol! My dad was on this show with Robert Palmer...I'm datin' myself, now, haha! Thanks for sharing Gstrong...tight vid craigstarr!
has anybody ever set eyes on the chambers brothers lp "oh my god"? I mean, I`ve been a record collector for over 30 years, I own all those wonderful CB albums, but "oh my god"? nope, not a chance...never seen it. ever.
judging by this little tv feature, the chambers were in rip-roaring form in early `72...and man, is them thar rhythm section/guitar interplay f-u-n-k-y!
I have 35,000 LP's and was on the Columbia mailing list...getting 'everything' back in those days, and I agree....never have seen this. I'm not sure it really exists, except in databases.
Lillian Roxon's Rock Encyclopedia (1978 reissue of 1971 publication) shows a 1/72 release date and includes track listing. Lester Chambers, though, says it was never released. According to Lester, Columbia says the Chambers Bros still owe $35,000 on "Oh My God!" for going over budget.
The guitarist here is T. J. Tindall. the following is from a recent interview with Neotomic Fanzine...
T.J. - You're right-1st session was some tracks for a Chambers Brothers album that I think never came out- A single called : "The Hair on my Chinny-Chin-Chin" did get released on Columbia but that was it.
I still say if John Lennon had survived past December 1980 he would have become a record producer and probably found or discovered more talent that "American Idol" could ever had. Lennon was not beyond being having the ability to recognize the true talent in other musicians -- not matter what music they were playing.
Jerome E. Brailey (BigFoot) on Drums. The vision is there and the Chambers Brothers has a spirit that will last forever in my heart. Love to see and here more of their music
I know one thing for sure, it doesn't seem these guys get their due they could play anything and do it very well. Could rock out with the best of them and anything else you can think of. Man they were great.
I'd like to see "It's so hard - live" from this show. Can anyone upload it? I've seen every song performed by John or Yoko in Mike Douglas show, but never It's so hard..it must exist!!
These dudes never got the credit they deserved. They should still be receiving praise today along with their soul and rock contemporaries! What an amazing band, they STILL have the power to give you chills and make you smile at the same time.
Wow! you've got to stay tune for the end of the first song. Why? John Lennon and Yoko Ono come out to get their autographs on a framed canvas in between numbers. I just caught him as he was leaving they wanted to get the 2nd song in before they ran out of time.
I would be first in line to see the chambers bros biography, what a great group of guys and long live that fantastic ageless classic "TIME HAS COME TODAY" ESPECIALLY THE 9MINUTE VERSION ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME AND GOD BLESS THE CHAMBERS BROS FAMILY,I AM A FAN FOR LIFE
There was never any band like this one. They were a joy to see and hear. They electrified the audience each and every performance. God Bless the Chambers Brothers and their whole wonderful family.
This is awesome!! The last time I saw this I was really really little, and I was like "hey, that's my daddy on tv" My dad is George, the bass player. The rest are my uncles, of course! I'm so proud to be part of this family. - Kim
Shame that the brothers (and others) got ripped off by record labels as to the pension plan they paid into and not getting any royalties for their songs that are being used all over the place.
I was fortunate enough to see them in the very early 1970s at Vanderbilt University. Great concert!!! I have several of their lps. Anybody remember "Love, Peace and Happiness"?
The Chambers Brothers music bridged gospel, blues, soul, rock, folk, & pop. How do you market the Chambers Brothers? You give them the freedom to be themselves. There are more recordings that should be released again or a total compliation of their complete library. This group was so soulful and earthy. They had a message, peace and love. I want the Chambers Brothers to know you are not forgotten. Maybe someone will have the vision to take them back into the studio or on stage.
hey DYLANCHAMBERS01 , this is terry and george is my uncle , please get in contact with you for we may be related :)-thanks -t p.s. i will check here and my account to see if you respond p.s.s. this is cool
saw them live at Westbury Music Fair in Long Island NY up close in 1968.. Physically they were very imposing. No one of the brothers could have been under 6ft 4in tall..
i love their music so much. but nobody ever seems to give them credit for rocking out the way they did. they're always classified as a soul group, but they had just as much rock as they did soul. (they said so themeselves)
p.s.- was john lennon trying to get autograph or what? (he looked crazy)
Love these guys since forever, look up the word Soulful, Chambers Brothers will be there....don't know details about CB but I always thought their story would make for a Great Movie, could you imagine the Soundtrack?
I'm really pleased that people are still listening to The Chambers Brothers,My cousin Brian keenan was the drummer though unfortunately he's not in this video
Hey cuz, it's Kim (George's daugher) here in Texas!! Terry3355 that responded to you is also your cousin, 2nd I believe. He's my mom's sisters son. He's really cool too!!
hello , I am 43 yrs old and if you are family to these guys, I want you to know that I heard the song time has come today for the first time in 1987, I was living in the atlanta area and delivering newspapers at 3am and the dj announced willie chambers 56th b-day and that song from that day on shook me in a big way, you tell them if they are still living that I think time has come is one of the greatest anthems of all time and some of us still love and listen to that song 40 yrs later
cool thats fine what a great song it will live in my heart forever, I dont really like the short version but the long version lord I was blown away. I also liked another song they did as well its nothing like time has come today but its good and it was called LOVE PEACE AND HAPPINESS
your uncles huh, well you tell them that some of us as we have gotten older lol who remember the day lol consider and hold TIME HAS COME TODAY AND THAT IS THE 9 MINUTE VERSION AS THE GREATEST ANTHEM OF ALL TIME, AND I KNOW THEY ARE GETTING OLDER AND TELL THEM THAT AS WE GET OLDER AND PASS THERE ARE SOME OF US WHO WILL HOLD A CANDLE AND COMEMORATE THERE LIFE WHILE DOWN HERE IN THIS WORLD,IVE BEEN BORED I'VE BEEN PUT ASIDE I'VE BEEN CRUSHED BY TUMBLING TIME AND MY SOULS BEEN PHYSCEDELISIZED. TIME
I am in FL. I am coming home. We definately do have great memories! I wrote a paper on Grandma last semester...of course it got an A, but that's grandma! I also added a picture of her with the report. It was a good report. IDK if I still have it. IDK when the funeral will be but I will need to know asap so I can schedule and make arrangements here. I get three days from work..I need to use them wisely. That's the only reason why I am at work today. Couldn't sleep last night. Very tired.
If they're you're uncles, then please tell them to post the video "I Can't You Loose." I remember their version of Otis Redding's song and they we're 'outta sight!' LOL I still have the original on vinyl 45 and at least 3 or 4 albums on vinyl 33's.
CB's version of "Rock Me Baby" (BB King) was also great.
I saw Lester Chambers alst night at the Cafe La Paz in Berkeley, doing a little backup singing for an opening act for Country Joe McDonald and Ramblin' Jack Eliot. THe girl opened the evening with about 4 songs but had Lester come up from the crowd to accompany her with some backup calling....Lester seemed so gentle and sweet. I was quite moved...and so ws the audience. if you don't know ramblin' Jack...he was tutored by Woody Guthrie, and has tons of charm.
Thanx for this clip as well. The Chambers Bros. rocked and funked and churchified with the best and I agree one day they'll get their do. I see Jerome up there on drums and I see him developing his chops which he'll use to the utmost when he joins Parliament-Funkadelic.
You can try the following places,There's a place called Last vesitige or it could be lost and Ebay has alot of use records for sale or auction.I see chamber Brothers stuff on there all the time.
Between songs Joe Chambers mentions the soon-to-be-released "Oh God" album. The record label (Columbia) barely released it with minimal distribution, and let it die with zero promotion. According to Lester Chambers (playing cowbell here) Columbia says the group still owes the label money for production costs on the album. The music world and the general public have been slow to appreciate the Chambers Brothers, but recognition will come. Listen to the music and hear their legacy.
Met these guys in 67 when they had just put the band together. Went to a few practices in a friends garage. Great funk.

Hey,it me...I'm just a lil numb. But we have so many great memories.I wonder what day will the funeral be-I'm flying home tues or wed. Where are you?
connVee 4 years ago
Very tired.

It was the Matriarch of our family, the mother of the Chambers Brothers, Victoria Chambers. I miss her!

Where might one find the Oh God album?
craigstarr 5 years ago
Between songs Joe Chambers mentions the soon-to-be-released "Oh God" album. The record label (Columbia) barely released it with minimal distribution, and let it die with zero promotion. According to Lester Chambers (playing cowbell here) Columbia says the group still owes the label money for production costs on the album. The music world and the general public have been slow to appreciate the Chambers Brothers, but recognition will come. Listen to the music and hear their legacy.
