PCTools is on of the leading antivirus clients out there, has been for several years. Every store that sells software has PCTools on the shelf. NORTON aka Symantec (The Biggest anti-virus maker in the world) bought out the company. Thanks for this video, I've read quite a few guides on how to remove this now, and none of them mentioned finding the file and changing its name - have to say thats the EASIEST method yet to disable it, and its so easy that anyone can do it, perfect! Once the program is disabled (not starting up disrupting all your programs) there's several methods of getting rid of it, biggest problem was disabling it like you showed how to do in an easy way. Thanks!

THANKS for posting this! Note in our XP system it was here: username/local settings/application data. Two files 893452363.exe and 895323.exe. Also it was not listed in MSCONFIG startup, but I did find it in regedit and deleted four keys with those file names.

Important: Mine came with a "system will shut down in 60 seconds notice." To disable, Click Start --> Run and type in "shutdown -a" (no quotes!) and ok. That disables the shutdown, so you can actually perform these steps.

If you can't find the file, click Start, Programs, and when you see "Security Tool" in the Start menu, right click that, and you'll find "properties." Then follow the rest of this video.

mine isnt that bad, im able to watch this even with the malware on ym computer. A trick i found is to spam shift+strl+esc which brings of task manager and quickly press enter which will delete security tool and u wont have any pop ups or blocks while u try to delete it

i had this last night , it nearly kicked my ass. i didnt get to see this video, but it was pretty bad. it was locking me out of malewarebytes, AND rkill. SO, what i did was ..

found where the evil file was , made a mental note of it, restarted in safe mode, searched for " application data" found the folder with the little blue shield in it ( the actual file name was a 6 digit number) , deleted it and restarted normally . everything went back to normal.

@PHAEDRIDER I got security tool as well, almost gave it my information! it prevented me from using rkill, but I managed to upload malewarebytes by renaming it and then running a full scan. It could have gone a lot harder, though.

1 - I closed the security tool window

2 - open taskmanager, shut down the process

3 - go to menu bar, and select all programs, you should see also an icon of this stupid virus, you make right click for "properties" and get the folder where its stored

4 - write down on paper the name of the files and delete the files (I had 2, 3567844824.exe and 39571.exe - check the icon)

6 - run REGEDIT and search this file names, delete process with those names

7 - run antivirus and verify the msconfig

OMG!! This was the EASIEST, but yet BEST way to remove that annoying malware! Omg i hate Security Tool shutting down fucking every program i try to open! But this was just simple and easy and best of all.. It worked! I tried other things suggested by so called 'experts' but this is the real expert ladies and gentleman..

Many thanks for this video, it helped rid me of this annoying virus. It was a little different in my case; the virus produced no folder only a shield icon and only affected one user on this PC. The method is the same though but only by going through another users login.

I did't find a folder, but I found the executable file in "userprofile\Local Settings\Application Data\******.exe (an 8 number exe file)

I renamed it, reboot my computer and it was gone!
