The sheetmusic I used is available on 'The Autoharp' page on Facebook, I'll send you the link to it as a YT message as it won't let me put the link in this reply.
As for playing without picks (aka. barefinger), if you can play with picks it is beneficial as it will stop blisters and stop the strings from rusting/corroding so quickly. I played bare-finger for a long while, but in the end I went back to using picks (1 thumbpick and 3 fingerpicks).. Happy 'harping! ~ Ryan
@theblacksheep1000 Do you know what chords you have on the autoharp? This tune uses a C, F, and G chord, if you have those chords you'll be able to play along to this video. If you let me know what chords you have on your autoharp I'll be able to advise you on what chords you can use. Happy harping!!
Your videos are great! I'm just starting out on the autoharp, and I've been finding it really difficult to find information on how to play. I've watched other autoharp tutorials on YouTube but yours about 100 times more informative than any others I've found! Keep up the good work!
@antoinette112 When i started playing the autoharp a few years back there was virtually nothing in the way of tutorials and I didnt have the money to buy lots of books.. so I taught myself and eventually decided that I would do videos to make sure that future 'harpers (like yourself) would have a bit more help! haha.. I'm glad you like the videos so much, and thanks for the kind comment.. have a great week ~ Ryan :O)
I never would have imagined that a young guy from the UK would even know of the Carter Family & Mother Maybelle, let alone know how to play the Wildwood Flower! Great job, Chief!!!
@kentuckianaboy oh yes.. how can i play the autoharp without knowing one of the main figures of its history, Mother Maybelle.. I love the Carter family!.. lol... thanks for the kind comment.. and im glad you enjoyed it :O) have a nice week
@thecarters28 thanks robert.. im glad u liked the tutorial, and the podcasts too.. the intro was just improvisation.. i just played a few chords n hoped for the best haha.. have a nice week
Can you list or annotate the chords for us? Also is it alright to play the auto harp with my bare hands/no picks?
