Not trying to be a dick, but I think the biggest problem was the audio/canned laughter. It's hard to hear you over the laughter, and the laughter is sort of constant thoughout, rather then "peaking" when the new joke (re, 'word' sentence) appears.

But, overall pretty good. Practice at delivery and this could be good.

Honestly for you to have written it by yourself that was damn good. I'm sure there is as you said plenty of competition though. However practice makes perfect, keep studying those episodes and maybe get some thoughts from those around you who are also fans. I dont see the colbert report going away anytime soon, so even if it dosent happen tomorrow, keep trying. You have the talent try branching out a little, maybe do your own thing on youtube, many get known that way.Creativity is important

@7tmo. Being creative no matter how ridiculous it may seem to you, only builds on your talent. Keep a postive mind, maybe even build your own fan base. But also sit back work at your goal, but take the freedom you have now at being able to do your own thing. New concepts, New Ideas, only you decide what is good or not when you have your own thing going for you. Good Luck.

Yours wasn't crap like some people are saying but it's not quite there yet. My friend used to write for the Colbert Report and he said Stephen surprisingly writes a lot of his own material or at least contributes heavily.
