im just never going to understand this thing. is the fueling run by boost instead of the other way around. it seems like they get boost before the fueling hits. this fueling is perfect!!!
Maybe the rails were in the 7's before us, but they are much lower in weight. We are actually right in saying that we are the first truck in the 7's. If we'd put that power that we're putting to the ground in the S-10 in a rail we'd be in the low sevens... maybe in the 6's.
Turbopops, thanks for the excited point of view... I just need to ask you to not be so pushy with the other folks. Like I've said before, this is a place to check out what we're doing... not pick fights.
Banks is catching flack for the website saying "First into the 7's" on the main page. A couple of rails were actually "first into the 7's" followed by Banks being 3rd into the 7's and first with a "pickup bodied" drag vehicle.
I'll bet that in 50 years Banks has invested way more than that! But Oakley spent millions in top fuel, and never won a race?
Money helps but it ain't no Silver Bullet, it takes smarts and experience as well. If you run their shit you'ed have the backing of a company as big and as "race wise" as Banks. Banks Cummins, Power Stroke and D-Max winning smoke-free for 5 years, dude, enough with the money excuse.
Yup, thats why you see all of the "low-buck" 10 second trucks running Banks stuff right?
Ha ha, nope...
Dont get me wrong, Banks makes good rpoducts, for street and towing trucks, but when have they released something other than intercoolers and elbows that are used on people's trucks..
Money is just about everything in racing. Of course there is skill involved, but if you have both, then you're untouchable.
I think someone twisted the Dragons tail. Banks is releasing all their winning stuff from balanced engine rotating assemblys to cams and kits to high-swirl racing heads to cast racing intake manifolds and complete dyno'ed racing engines. They are going low buck to high buck...better hide your smokers.
And...there's nothing low buck about a 10 second diesel truck...cracker pleeeze. EOM
The Banks Sidewinder trucks have been setting records since the Sidewinder Dakota/Cummins at Bonneville in 2002. All smoke free.
The youtube videos of the Sidewinder Dakota and Sidewinder GMC road racer. No way those could carry that much nitrous.
The write-up on the Sidewinder drag truck states that the road race engine is currently in the drag racer, it didn't smoke, even without nitrous. All the other pro stock diesel guys also run nitrous and smoke like hell, what's up?
I've been a fan of fast diesels, and I myself run a DPtuner, that smokes some, but I don't like the smoke. This is AWESOME, no BIGGER THAN AWESOME STUPENDOUS that this truck is running this fast without one iota of smoke.
green and mean, green aaaand mean. nice to see diesels that have a mad grip of power that don`t rape the earth at the same time. it`s only due time to make one that goes sideways.
every other diesel truck that has a hope in hell to even think about touching this truck, smokes like a freight train. granted, there's cumminsracing, and they are running biodiesel in their dragster, but it still smokes like crazy to get into the high 7s
Can you guys stand one last update from today's NHRA event? Alrighty then... third and final run of the day: 8.22 @ 164. And once again, not a hint of black smoke.
HEY GUYS, take your time and review every diesel run ever posted on YouTube, then you would understand how significate that Dmax type D run was, lets not forget that most all the Cummins diesel with Nos still produce tons of smoke
Guys, the videos we put up are for your enjoyment and curiosity. We like to put things on that are interesting and that give a peak at what's going on here at Banks. I've said it before on other videos posts... keep it clean, and if you want to fight or bash go to a forum and do it. This is not the place to take out your aggression on Banks or each other. Thanks
Look, if you work for PPE, I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to insult you with my first reply. It's just nice to see a diesel drag truck not block out the sun however it is done. I haven't seen that before. That's it. Grow up and get a life.
If you put that same huge amount of Nitrous Oxide they used the PPE would not smoke either! And the PPE would have run well into the 7's with such little weight.....
The Banks truck should have gone a lot faster with that light s-10 race chassis and Lenco full race transmission and Nitrous... Couldn't Banks figure out how to use the Allison?
I have seen other trucks tuned by PPE run same MPH with NO NITROUS.....
Wow..evil truck........

no smoke because of nitrous.
this truck now runs 7.69sec.

the truck may be running on alcohol. it has that sound to it.

It keeps getting better... second run was 8.303 sec @ 160.81 mph. Third run will either be later today or tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Quick update from Vegas: We just had our first run of the day. 8.41 @ 158 mph! And still smoke free. We'll get more videos up as soon as we can.

Well, after hyping it for the last two years I'm glad to see it finally running!!
It sounds awesome....
Hope they do hit the 7's with no smoke.... now that would be cool.

dieselfan12 4 years ago
Mr. dieselfan12 brain surgeon.... please re read my comment until you understand it......
I never said I am a fan of smoke.....
What is intellegent about Nitrous Oxide?, any one can use Nitrous to burn off additional fuel that their trucks turbo cannot handle....
1+1=2, therefore if you understand my earlier post fuel + Nitrous = no smoke and lots of power. That is all..
marksrt43 4 years ago
Awesome sound! The MPH seems low, because dirtymax was that fast, but that leads me to believe there is more
Dieselson1 4 years ago
Didn't the dirtymax also run about 150mph?
and that was with a much heavier truck with an allison transmission...
marksrt43 4 years ago
yes

I would like to see what times it would run without Nitrous Oxide.....
marksrt43 4 years ago
You're right, however, this truckis design to run 7', and rev 7000rpms and this truck is making less torque then the average pullin truck
