  • The man on the right is Billy Bailey. Real name. He died in 2003.

  • The gentleman on the right is "Little" Jack Little, who played fiddle(and later, drums) for Porter before the arrival of Mack Magaha.

  • I have this song on the Best of Archie Campbell LP. That version was apparently done in concert. He had a tenor singer.

  • I laughed until I turned purple when I first saw this hilarious moment on RFDtv last year! I can remember Speck Rhodes coming to my school back when I was in the first grade. That was around 1981 I think just after Porter's variety show went off the air.

  • What year did this episode air? I know Archie knew of this song before HEE-HAW came along in 1969 but it's interesting that he's performing it on one of HEE-HAW's main competitions in some markets: Porter's TV show. The show often competed against either Porter's show or Lawrence Welk's show. Some markets aired all 3 programs back-to-back-to-back.

  • @ACcountryFan Don't know now. It is grand isn't it? Charlie

  • Great clip, so many great wholesome family music shows during this era.

  • I was just talking to someone recently about Speck Rhodes. Thanks for posting this wonderful memory.

  • @mongomartin1 My pleasure. Thanks a lot for watching. Charlie
