  • here in italy it's forbidden to sell those products because some people abused of it and went to hospital... it's a pity because if they sell bronzing creams, why don't sell whitening creams?

  • The reality is that men likes women with lighter skin, no matter where we are from.

It is not about racism , it is about how men see women. That is the problem: men see beauty through fairness of skin.

unfortunately, we are changing ourseleve to be accepted by them.

I know it is sad, but what should women do to make a person like them?

I wish we were like plants and did not need them.

    this is sad!!! very sad!

  • @vintagesugar82 Sorry to be calling a retard a retard, but the difference between bleaching and bronzing is massive - tanning and the body's production of melanin is a completely natural process which occurs regardless, whereas there is no such similar process whereby anyone (bar MJ) has their skin lightening. You may be new to the concept of debate and discussion, so you should be wary that Devil's Advocate is just that - and not a reason to agree with something.

  • @vintagesugar82 there is so much truth in what you just said.

  • so what is people wanna be whiter... maybe they got a bad tan, maybe they look ugly tan.

  • What rot! These cosmetics are all garbage! People should accept themselves for what they are.

  • Lol.. I'd rather be just myself than putting on cream to make myself appear whiter everyday.

  • hey ppl i dnt you but here in europe we prefer tan skin!!

  • @vintagesugar82 it's not. because white people want to be tan, but they sure as hell don't wanna be black or latina or indian. they want that nice beachy "glow". they dont want all the stuff that comes with being a brown person in this world. tanning products are popular in america...and yet are black women or dark skin idealized as beautiful? no.

  • @badfoods ur racist for sure, exactly what stuff comes with being brown/dark skinned other than being resistant to sun damage?, which is a good thing unlike being white and turn red like a lobster in the sun.

  • @THEATRYCAL You misunderstood me. When you're brown/black society does not think you are as beautiful as a white person. And people are racist towards brown/blacks (turn on your tv, open a magazine, pay attention to who we america is killing abroad, why all our ideals of beauty are white, etc...).

I meant to say that tanning products and whitening products are NOT THE SAME. Some people use BLEACH so that they feel better about themselves. No White person ACTUALLY wants to become black.

  • @badfoods true, but that's only in america where people idolize light skin, other places don't and possibly the other way around so u can't really say light skin is better it's just an american ideal, just sayin :/

  • @THEATRYCAL Yes, I can only speak of this from an American perspective. And an Indian/Pakistani/Middle Eastern/African/Latin American perspective. Whiteness (or at least, lightness of skin) is-GENERALLY speaking-something we all want. Whiteness isnt only about beauty OR class. It's about how much you're worth (that's why in many Latin American countries (and in the us actually!) the lighter you are, the more money you make).

  • @badfoods Dark skin is idolized as being 'beautiful' in the west - I live in the UK and have frequented the USA for years. All I see are young women plastering themselves in fake tan to look as dark as possible, and hitting the sunbeds to look as dark as the spanish and latin. European culture regards pale skin as 'pastey' and 'unattractive' hence the term - 'milk bottle legs'...

  • @01fey And yet whenever a Black celebrity is on the cover of ANY American magazine, her skin is made AT LEAST a few shades lighter. Why? Also, Black women frequently change their hair to fit the "White hair" standard. Why?

  • Comment removed

  • @01fey trueeeeeee

  • Comment removed

  • @01fey ALL. Even frikkin light-skinned Beyonce is always few shades lighter in ads and magazines. WHY? And oh, Im sure its a coincidence that so many Black women do not go out with their natural hair! It isnt that we as a society don't really accept afros! It's just because we all "want what we dont have"!

  • @badfoods Yup, like I said we all want what we don't have - especially women, hence why we colour our hair and wear makeup and tan or whiten the skin ;) Beyonce goes a few shades lighter in magazines - whilst our white celebrities go a few shades darker :)

  • @vintagesugar82

    yes that is...sad..

  • i dont lighten or tan, im black, i have like golden skin with redish tones, and i love it, i dont care how society percieves me, cause in my eyes i am beautiful. As long as I'm healthy, then that's the most beautiful thing in the world to me.

  • Comment removed

  • @spidersdoingpushups Obviously. Me and my family are on the lighter skinned side, so my cousins and a few aunts tan, but what I said was, I don't go tanning. Like, if I go on vacation to somewhere hot, then I'll tan naturally, but I don't force myself to do it.

  • @zulukline I love u :*

  • @zulukline then why the hell are you on this video

  • And here I have to feel bad for being super pale.

  • wtf was that?

  • LOL! White people go tanning so that they look like they can afford vacations lounging under the sun. Vietnamese get whitening cream so that they look like they can afford staying out of the sun lololol! While most SE asians I know do really seem fascinated by very white skin and real light blond hair and blue eyes, they generally don't like white women though and think of most as elephants since most Americans/Europeans are so fat compared to cutey asians, hahah!

  • hey you do know that vietnamese are born with white skin? and we arent really south east asian we originally came from east asia thats why we have white skin.... its just that vietnam is hot

Singapore also originally came from east asia and its hotter down there we also buy those whitening cream because we want to keep our east asian skin

I'm Singaporean and i understand the Vietnamese people

  • Vietnamese are not born with white skin, and I've seen plenty of viet and thai girls with gorgeous tan skin making their faces look like ghosts with over-application of light makeup, lol! Its ok, even white Europeans used to do the same thing to project wealth/prosperity, since only the nobility/upper-class could afford to stay indoors while laborers were out in the sun working fields and traveling exposed.

BTW I used to live @ Mt Sinai Rise by the Ulu Pandan American middle school. =)

  • I Germany Nivea sells lotions wich make skin darker... How ironic!

  • they sell that in the uk as well, seem that diferent countries have different ideals for beauty

  • they sell it in england?? like where? how come I can't find any?

  • nivea body sun, over time it gives u darker skin, like a tan, seel it in beauty stores like boots and superdrug and in suermarkets as well lol

  • I was talking about the whitening lotion

  • well i wasnt so i don't know why u asked me

  • ahah i'm viet so ironic how i want lighter skin ANWYAYS ! does this thing sell in canada?

  • It's ironic, really. It seems that a lot of non white people are obcessed with looking whiter while a lot of white people are obcessed with tanning and looking darker. I think that in another 1000 years and it won't matter because everyone will all be the same color.

Unless, people try to build another tower of bable and god will try and turn us all against each other again.

BTW, the last sentence was sarcasm. There isn't really a god.

  • AHHAHAHAHA.

    best thing ever.

  • does it work?

  • Omg!

    LOL

Nivea is in the whitening business too?

    Damn.

  • sad people can't accept who they are. michael jackson for one

"farmer's tans" sounds like concepts of keeping out of the sun in england for the rich in the middle ages to distinguish them from the poor. its like when being fat was a sigh of wealth...

  • another asian porn comercial XD

  • gooooooooooooood

  • fyi

not everyone uses this because they are ashamed of their skin color

some women have a problem with dark underarms because of ingrown hairs or allergic reactions to deodorants

others use it when they get a "farmer's tan" from wearing short sleeves and driving (so half of their arm is tanned when the rest of their body is white)

other people have combination skin tones and simply prefer to lighten darker areas instead of tanning lighter areas

    open your mind!

  • hmm never thought of it as that way. however from the look of the commercial. all i see is white milky skin. maybe they should try making their own commercial instead of using malaysian commercials or something.

  • There's also people who suffer from hyperpigmentation or melasma that use whitening products.

although these prejudices are becoming silly. it's okay for white people to tan but for non-white people, it's not okay for them? We're not aiming to be like "white people". there are already natrually born light-skinned Asians anyway.

  • yeah i'm tired of the double standard too

why is there an uproar at the mere notion of a skin lightening product when i can't find a single skin lightening lotion in any chain store and there are literally tens of tanning creams and lotions on the shelves of every pharmacy and grocery store across the country

but i've made my peace with it, when people jump to conclusions and make moronic and judgmental accusations it only shows how truly ignorant they are (aka iseevideos123)

  • tanning is just a natural condition of white skin. skin whitening isn't natural. i know what you mean though.

  • well tell that to 100000 australians and americans who use fake tan...

nobody ever critizes them, but when it comes to skin whitening every1 goes outta there minds!

  • lol and its funny when they use it.

  • its also funny when girls use fake tan becoz they turn orange!!!!

haha a popular bitchy slutty girl in my grade came to school completely orange so im like "you look really orange!" and shes like "thats rude!!" and bitched about me to her friend. hahahah

  • wowowowoowwoow

  • that is so true, too many people are obsessed with skin color. i say what people do with their body is their business. it should not be for the public to inspect

  • I think people are forgetting that light skin (along with long, silky black hair, large youthful eyes, rosy cheeks and rosy lips) has been the ideal Asian beauty for centuries before Europeans came and made colonies in Asia. why does everyone think that it's always about "we wanna be like white people" ??

  • Yeah...

I just thing tanned skin looks awful UNLESS its natural INSTEAD of being done by the sun or some stupid product haha.

As LONG as its NATURAL, then it doesn't look disgusting :)

  • @Cyndane

yes that has been the case. But people now are using this ideal to strategically target asians for an inferiority complex. Yes there are some asian who buy into all that inferority complex stuff...(cough cough S.E.A) but there are still a large portions who are not. What most asians want is white/light skin not to be a white person. There is a difference.

  • @Cyndane "large youthful eyes"? Asians? .....?

  • @midnitemask actually there are many asians with lage eyes, just different than white people large kind of eyes.

  • @Cyndane Dude, you are so wrong, I can't even being to tell you how wrong you are.

  • @Cyndane yes, if you are a white asian, but if you just don't have the skin for it why bleach it? There are white asians and there are dark asians, and there are beaty standards for all those races.

  • This looks awesome. i want to try it. but where can i find it in the US?

  • yeah! me too! coz here in US most ppol like to be tan...

  • probably in asian stores... so ive heard... but you could probably ship it over from maylasia or whatever, or use ebay

  • Okay, there may be nothing inherently wrong with preferring white skin (big maybe), but everyone needs to ask themselves why many people have that preference, even lots of people who aren't white. What creates aesthetic preferences? In this case, they are embedded in a history of white supremacy, ie. we think white looks nice because white people are considered superior. And that is wrong. This product is just deepening the inferiority complex of non-white women and GIRLS. So wrong.

  • Same goes for light skinned people who tan. Being tan was considered a sign of wealth and prosperity because rich people usually had the luxury of holidaying in exotic & returned home flaunting a healthy bronze glow. Just thought I'd point that out because I don't fancy double-standards :)

  • does anyone know a product that works?

  • Well like I said, only people who discriminate, people who don't feel good about themselves, people who don't have an identity of their own, people who don't accept themselves as they are, people who are superficial and/or racist would think that white skin is prettier and that it is the way to go .

  • sigh.

I can't believe that people still think that they're living in the 18th century or something. I love pale skin, I love the look of it. it reminds me of the beauty of porcelain dolls, of vintage pin-up models, and beautiful geisha. Dita von Teese is THE gorgeous, lovely, icon for pale skin and also classic beauty. I aspire to be like her, as she is one of my role models. i'm getting tired of tanning anyway, and uneven skin is just annoying.

  • I think skin color should just be a beauty preference now instead of racial preference, just as now hair texture, hair color, eye color, etc. has become a beauty preference. I see black girls getting weaves and Asian girls getting perms. does that mean that ALL of them want to be Caucasian? uhh, no.

  • i completely agree with you, you phrased it better than i could've.

  • totally agree, it is a bout a beauty preferences the majourity of the time, the roblem is not what peole are doing to enhace themselves, but the reason behind it, that shows what they are aiming for.

  • It's socially and self destructive. Don't we have a mind of our own? Do we always have to be told what to like and what to do with ourselves? All this to me sounds as if it wasn't good enough to be ourselves anymore. Sounds like we need to get a life, lol.

And besides aren't we are on the 21st century, the only thought of any skin color being better than another should sound ridiculous to us don't you think? We are supposed to be civilized already!!!

    All skin colors are pretty.

  • hahaha, I'm sorry, it's just the way I am, when I have a friend who messes up, I tell him or her in a way that makes them mad but also a way that makes them think about their mistakes...and the only reason i tell them tha is because I TRULY LOVE THEM AND CARE ABOUT THEM...so that is why...but I said the piece of shit part for those who apply for it, not for everyone. By the way sorry I said the word shit, I usually don't speak like that lolz

  • Shut your mouth all of you!!!!

What difference does it make to have white or dark skin if you are gonna be a pice of shit in this world? And also, being rich or poor do not make you a good or bad person, what speaks louder than you is are your values and how well you contribute to this world...Stop being fake people...all skins are beautiful only stupid, racist, discriminatory and value-less people would think the opposite...be your self...by the way I love you all even though I don't know u!

  • I agree with you, but how did you go from calling us "a piece of shit in this world" to "by the way I love you?" Your confusing even though it's true that we should be ourselves.

  • your avoiding the real issue...lighter skin is shown as beautiful...people want lighter skin no matter what people say about it counts about who u are and not your skin colour...thats all bullshit for people...they will only feel confident with lighter skin

  • okay i'm confused on whats going on here. I'm an artist and skin color was never an issue, even a though when it came to confidence. I am still able to do art shows and perform music in front of crowds without skin color being an issue. what is more of a confidence issue for me is public speaking whenever it comes to art critiqing, & nervousness during jury exams. as for light skin, yeah, I do find it aesthetically pleasing. it's my beauty preference. i'm tired of tans anyway

  • Lol, whitening lotion? Oddd.

  • Thats so cool and you people better get used to the fact that PALE SKIN is gonna be in around America and Australia soon as well.

FAIR SKIN is pretty and believe it or not lots of people want it.

I'm lucky enough to have naturally fair skin.

Unfortunely people around my area think "tanning" is the way to go and make themself all fake with fake tan =[

  • Where can you buy this?

  • so pretty!

  • man those stuff are not even good for ur skin!!!

    whitening lotion psh

  • man i need taht lotion..i hate being tan or dark!

  • Why would you want to whiten your skin??? Yuck

  • U mean superior BEAUTY! It makes u beautiful! Better than a tan!

  • No I meant superior all around. Thanks for trying to make it politically correct for me though.

  • It actually kinda depends on what skin tone looks best for u. That's why they have skin whitening bcuz some ppl think that getting a tan is retarded (I'm one of those ppl) so they whiten their skin. Or they either just don't like their natural skin color.

  • I think I would look like a clown if I had really dark skin with red hair and aqua blue, but that's my own opinion. If others want that well that's them, but not me. I'm happy with my pale skin with pale eyes and dark red hair. :)At the end people should do whatever they want with their money just as long others don't get hurt in the process.

  • You shit.

  • In many East Asian cultures, paler skin is seen as attractive. In North American culture, tanned skin is attractive, it's just a difference in culture.

Some believe it goes back to the days when having pale skin meant you didn't have to spend much time out in the sun working, so it meant you had money.

  • "so it meant you had money."

If that's true than this is also true at Latin countries. I know my grandma was telling me not so long ago... "What beautiful white skin you have." It creped me out. I knew that in Asian countries they were like that but not countries like Cuba. O_o My mom explained to me the whole thing that high class women had pale skin, which is why when I dressed up for a special occasion my grandma would say that I looked like a noble woman straight from the courts of Spain.

  • The reason why tans are very prevalent was because of exploration. The rich had a chance to explore far away places, evidently they were more southern They got tans, tans were then reserved for the rich and people eventually adopted it as being better. But heres a difference between being tanned and black, which black appearantly is the ultimate sin.

  • Oh of course... and looking like an orange or a tomato is a-okay. :)

  • Hhhhmmm... well, that depends. I'm from a latin american country where people literally IDOLIZE tanned skin (girls rather get wrinkled at 30 and skin cancer if that means the have a good tan), and they keep on critizicing me because I'm "pale like paper". I want to be a singer and some coach told me I'd have to get a tan if I want to have a career. I guess beauty notions here are contradicting.

  • Captured perfectly.

Similar to when Queen Elizabeth 1 ruled in England in Tudor times. White skin was fashionable for the upper classes as it helped to distuinguish the rich from poor.

  • woah that's so weird. here in america nivea has tanning lotions, and there it's the exact opposite!

  • Isn't it just that "beauty" companies want to earn as much money as they possibly can? Make white people want to tan (so they buy tanning products, preferably ours), and if someone is not Caucasian, well - make him want to be whiter. That's what they think.

  • I know! My sister and I were laughing about it the other day while shopping for some vitamins. I wanted to check out some lotions against cellulite and my sister was pointing out all of the tanning products. She gets mad when sell personals give her coupons for such items because it's like them saying to her "Your white skin is ugly. Here get a tan with this." I get the same treatment at times. In the US they're obsessed with this tanning thing. At the end it's about money for them.

  • disgusting ad skin whitening has long term serious effects. Not to mention the girl looks more white than Vietnamese.

  • Yeah and so does tanning.

  • i just want to blow those cloths off

  • God, she's beautiful

  • Funny. Tan people want to be white and white people want to be tan. It's not good enough to be ourselves anymore.
