  • Why's the volume so freaking high? this shouldn't sound like shit but it does :/

  • Yeah, it's pretty misogynistic to use "pussification" to mean, "weakening" because that draws the analogy "pussy: weak", a rather misogynistic assumption if you ask me. Also, the male gaze! Allowing women to be patronized since the patriarchal authority's inception!

    Anyway, great song. :)

  • "I shall play both pianos at once, if it's all the same to you."

    "Mister Rimmer, that is impossible."

    "Nonetheless, I shall attempt it!"

  • Anyone else wish she was wearing a skirt?

  • What a perfect song this already was by Lloyd Cole. There outta be a law against the pussification of iconic songs. If Tori wasn't so freakin hot, I'd be really angry right now.

  • "Pussification?"

    Fucking mysogynist.

  • @DreadedEllipse I assume this is directed towards my comment. 50% of your two-word reply is the word "f*cking" - the other 50% is the misspelling of the word "misogynist"... so it is likely that you won't understand this, but... "Pussification" has nothing to do with females, males, or misogyny. It is a fairly common term used to describe the intentional weakening of something, for any reason - in this case, the illusion of sensitivity.

  • @shark3136 (Chortle) First of all, the word "f*cking" is not always used by people who merely cannot come up with something a little more eloquent. So that was a cheap shot for you. Well-educated women & men use the word derisively often!

As for my misspelling, I know it's with an i. I hope it feeds your superiority complex and weak argument to point that out.

  • Plus, I know that (HA! You're patronizing me over slang!) "pussification" means "to weaken", and when someone uses the word "pussy" towards a male, it means "weak." So the meaning stays the same in that fashion; however, if the term is used in reference to a woman, they're referring to her female genitalia. In our contemporary culture, that's the way that word is processed. So yes, it is MISOGYNISTIC to use it here. I doubt you have used it toward a machismo musician.

  • Pretzel logic.

  • I'm not an eBay guy.

You wouldn't have an e-mail address, would you?

  • pretentious crap. great song butchered

  • AND ON THE 8TH DAY

  • Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a video of Tori Amos "Sessions at West 54th" that ran on TV years ago.

    I've searched the world over.

Or if you can just tell me the ending, showstopping song she does at the end.

I've never seen a better live performance.

  • @wsperger

If you wanted it on DVD there is an Aussie eBay seller 'ellafairey' who I bought the Tori Sessions from a little while back. She doesn't have any DVDs on at the moment, but if you contact her she might be able to make one up for you. :)

It's a great set, prob my favourite version of Iiee, and of course Waitress is always good as a finale. :D

  • I love her Jumpsuits!

  • My love too!!

  • all hail the Goddess

  • she is my love

  • A GIRL NEEDS A GUN THSES DAYZ

  • "it's so hard to love when love was your great disappointment."

    so true.

i LOVE tori and i tried to listen to the original but i couldn't get into it at all. i guess i'm prejudiced towards tori. :D

  • @shineonocean sorry but you have things totally back to front! Lloyd Cole birthed the song and has total rights to it at all levels

  • Tori is utterly sexy... And this is of course Lloyd Cole's original. Great song.

  • lloyd would have been flattered !

  • amazinzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @sljf555 LOL! How so? The original still exists.

  • She is amazing! what a woman (2)!! what a version! I just can't stop whatchin' her videos and listening to her voice! I wish I could marry her! but it's hard to find red-heads here in Brazil! hahaha

  • nice cover though obviously quite far from the original by Lloyd Cole.

  • daft tori love you

  • I think I have listened to this song a thousand times in last month. It utterly changed my life. Something magical.

  • She played this last night at the Apollo Victoria. Brilliant!

  • Der schwarze BH ist für die Manko-Menschen... ist mir jetzt erst aufgefallen :-)

  • die Frau braucht das, und ich mag Sie. Und die Musik ist ohnegleichen...

  • Tori looks exceptionally vane to me

  • There's so much depth and range of emotion in her live performances, heart-wrenching.

  • ITS THE BEST

  • amazing as always also absolutely LOVE her outfit :D!! also I will be checking out Lloyd Cole's songs

  • Great song, but the video poster should fix the lyrics. Some of the words (obvious should be oblivious, etc.) are wrong. "On the Waterfront" should be capitalized (refers to a movie).

  • well, in all fairness, the original lyrics are "obvious"

  • sehr schöner Song :-)

  • please, tori, marry me

  • me first :)

  • She should seriously do up her jacket or she'll catch her death. Also what's with the 2 joannas?

  • God I love her here she looks amazing and her voice is even more beautiful.

  • here I am again, Razzy girl. And you are totally right! As usual.

  • thanks for the upload

had not ever heard of this song

    another ticker on the tape

  • No, you are both right, its a great performance and hope tori goes on to cover many more of Lloyd's songs. I'm personally looking forward to "Prefect Skin", "3 flights up", "Impatience" "Perfect bloom" "His last fling" and "Brand New Fiend"

  • it's right she changed some of the lyrics, she did on the whole album "strange little girl" to change viewpoints...i guess

  • @RiotAdiposity Listening to the originals again- she didn't just change the viewpoints, she completely re-did the meaning of some of the songs in a rather naughty way... especially enjoy the silence and I'm not in love, making them essential new and different songs.

  • you´re incorrect again...

  • Actually, she does indeed say "saint" and "oblivious". However, I do believe that these are both intentional changes in lyrics on Tori's part.

  • It's obvious you're being completely ridiculous. If after watching that performance all you can do is complain about trite details like pronunciations and words, you're clearly oblivious and missing the point. Good day.

  • I can listen to this all day. Good Bless Lloyd Cole and Tori Amo!!!

  • On the recorded version she never says "rattlesnakes". She says "rattlesnay".

  • so f**kin hilarious cuz it's true. yes, said.

  • gosh now I have to re-listen lmao

  • Lots of singers, when they record drop, or hardly pronounce, the final S in words when something else doesn't follow immeadiately. Listen to some of Sting's vocals for instance. They do that to avoid a troublesome hissing sound on the recording.

  • Love this version, something very "sixties" about it, but it would be nice if her fans could hold it down until she finished. That last "...heeeere..." is a killer.

  • what a woman!

  • The point of the entire Strange Little Girls album was to flip/question the intention of the original songs.

  • Oh Definately! Some people just dont know their facts. I've been that person but when it comes to insulting a project you know nothing about, your just a danger to your own intellegence. So I'm with you there sweets! I have this album and I appreciate it

  • I love Eva Marie Saint! ;-D

  • best song on Strange Little Girls...she wore the same red pantsuit-dress as the show I was at on that tour in 2001. ah memories.

  • I was gonna coment on that suit, which is AMAZING, btw! She wears it in the concert I have recorded! AWESOMENESS! So jealous that you were there live:) Wish she'd come to Brazil...

  • I love this cover.. I've been listening to it for hours, I never get tired of it. It's so fragile.

  • she looks gorgeous!

  • thanks for sharing <33

    so much talent here!

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • haven't seen this one, thanks! :)

  • So glad to see this performance back up. Thanks!

  • Me too. Something very 'sixties' about this haunting version. Wunderbar.

  • yes!
