@TheBodyless in this event, they draw straws to pick their pace line order. the do a set number of laps beind the motor bike in this order. they gradually increase spead until the bike pulls off and it turns into a mad sprint to the finish, with speeds getting up over 60km/h. this is called the Kerin

@shermanro they are pushing huge gears, the motopacing helps them get up to speed, and prevents the race from just turning into a scratch race. it focuses on top end sprinting

@peteallez hi there smart pants. you select a gear to race in. Each bike will have a specific gear ratio. I'm wondering how his ratio compared to the others. He looked comfortable and didn't spin out, since he went way faster I'm thinking he had a higher gear ratio: requiring more force, which clearly he has plenty of.

@dnm25 that little thing on the back of his saddle is a SRM head. That is a computer unit that registers the rider power output, heart rate, cadence, speed etc. The power is sent from strain gauges in the crank spider and measured in Watts.

Keirin is what makes track cycling understandable and spectacular even for outsiders. It should be the main focus of all competitions.

So there should be two, tree or more keirin BMI-classes. (body mass index) This way you measure height/muscle-relation and can put fair classes together.

for example: class over BMI 25 (the original track sprinters), class BMI 22-25 (road sprinters), class under BMI 22 (enduros)

@Goglinek no niech wróci, chyba nie znasz się na żartach, ja tylko opisałem zjawisko często tu występujące, które ściągnęliśmy z USA, sekcja komentarzy jest zajebana postami typu: "słychać strzały" "kto z mistrzów/JM kciuk w górę" "Boże zabierz bibera i zwróć nam Magika/Tupaca czy innego", "Mamo idę najebać tym co dali dislike" itp.

NIestety tu rządzi cenna waluta "łapek", dająca sławę użytkownikowi, bo wiadomo łatwiej "zaistnieć" poprzez napisanie głupiego komenta niż zrobienie sensownego filmu
