the 80's was the beginning of the transition from straightforward "try our product" ads into more psychologically manipulative, fantasy type ads. now the fantasy ads are the standard and only cheap local ads still use the " hey we're honest people try us out" approach.
wendy's definitely taste's more real, but still doesn't taste quite like real food to me. if i want burger i go to local burger joints where they form patties by hand from locally made ground beef, cook it on a grill, cut fresh potatoes for fries, scoop ice cream to make my shake, slice veggies right there, etc etc etc. real food always taste's 100% more satisfying. corporate food makes my taste buds stoned with MSG and makes my gut feel like i swallowed a rock
OK I wish that the burger was really as huge as the ones in the ad...it would be worth the money we pay for the friggin thing!! damn it...now I got a craving!

I do like a Big Mac now and again. Although, I haven`t had one in a few years. McDonald`s doesn`t have the same allure that it did when I was a little kid. The risk of obesity and heart attacks increases, when you eat fast food regularly. That somehow has tempered my enthusiasm for the golden arches as an adult.
"The Mac" is still that deal in 2011. But my "favorite" (I'm still more of a White Castle dude) Mickey D's burger right about now has to be that good-ass Double Quarterpounder with Cheese. I LOVE that motherfucker! (With X-tra Heinz-57!!!!! :D) I usually cop 4 at a time. But, then again (and probably fortunately), I don't do Mickey D's that much.
Worked at McDonalds's in my youth (early 90's). Employees got half-priced meals--if they didn't exceed $5 dollars (again, early 90's). Anyway, six months later I put on 20 pounds and my pants didn't fit anymore. Good thing I got fired.
I don't know why the description here says 'let the supersizing begin', because this commercial is from the 80's and the big mac was around at least a decade before then. I don't think we saw the supersize packaging until the 90's, because we still didn't have it in the late 80's when I worked there as a teenager.

Interesting. I did a Google search on Iceland McDonald's and found a very interesting article about it from BBC News. I never knew that the total population of Iceland was only 300,000. There were 3 McDonald's in Iceland, all owned by one man. He had to purchase his supplies from Germany, but after the collapse of the Icelandic economy, the costs became prohibitive. His plans were to keep the restaurants open under another name, but purchase supplies locally.

@catkittycatkittycat That's how fast food was SUPPOSED to be treated. As the occassional treat for celebration or good behavior and things like that. But the fast food companies decided they weren't making enough money and began encouraging parents to take themselves and their kids more often.

Bon Apetite!
1 cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
1/3 cup sweet relish
1/3 cup French dressing
1 tablespoon Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
1 teaspoon Dry minced onion
Directions: Combine all ingredients. Chill in refrigerator for one hour (at least) for flavors to blend.
