  • BEST MOVIE EVAAAAAAAR :)

and still better than BREAKING WIND (yup the sparkly vampire saga)

  • +1 if you noticed the nude girl at 4:58

  • "You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss three bucks goodbye!" LOLOL

  • Take it easy kid it's only a movie

  • Just noticed that at 5:23, the very last image is a cross-section of a pregant woman's uterus.

  • Am I the only one who noticed the naked woman in here? Or did all of you see her too?

  • 4:58

  • 2:22 Excuse me, Princess.

  • I personally loved the WookieMonster. Totally forgot about him.

  • It's still incredible. I have replayed a joke from this in my mind several times in the last 30 years: can't believe I remembered it verbatim: 30 years!

  • Dude, they showed this at my school when I was in 1st grade! I can't believe I just saw it again 30 years later!

  • That's no moon . . . It's a waffle iron!

  • Comment removed

  • The tin man as C3-po was the bast part.

  • I haven't seen this since I saw it on HBO when I was a kid, probably in 1980. You know what? It's still funny! Damn, that's quality parody right there.

  • Ctdsnark lol, exactly!

  • It's Star Wars sweded!

  • "Are you talkin to me??" Omg thats funny!

  • Why are the left and right sound channels reversed? They weren't in part 1.

  • @sygo7g Well said! Hardware Wars was and continues to be a defining parody film. Come to think of it - though I might be over-reaching here - the parody film hadn't really become a staple of cinema until after Hardware Wars. It must be one of the first parodies to take an intellectual property and turn it on its head like that. Other comedies like Young Frankenstein and Airplane! were more of a spoof of a genre than a specific movie. But I could be wrong :)

  • ):07

did hyperspace just play 'mary had a little lamb'?!

  • See ya later, your martyrness.

  • Bwaa ha ha. Still funny!! My little brother and i used to watch this " HBO Short "

and just crack up!! Thanks for posting Ya marter!! ya HA Ha Ha Ha

  • hardware wars coming never in a to a theader near you

  • darph nader, naughty person

  • Wow. They actually got Paul Frees to do the narration. Impressive!

  • lolololol

  • the tin man! c mon it's still funny!

  • @subatomiccupcake I agree. What is it with all these spoil-sports dumping on Hardware Wars? People have no sense of humor unless it includes tits / nutshots / and or body fluids ~__~

  • I watched on SNL when I was in 5th grade. I remember laughing at "I can't understand what youre saying" bla bla bla "are you talking to me" I must have forgotten "Basketball is a peaceful planet!"

  • the only funny part in this movie is at 4:35

  • LOL 4:35

  • I remember watching this in junior high. Thought that Ham Salad and the Tractor Beam were the funniest thing since sliced toast.

Now this seems like a humorless piece of crap.

  • "No,just a little headache" hahahaha!

  • I remember watching that on OnTV back in 1981.They would show it right before Star Wars.I was maybe 5 or 6.Great memories.

  • My brother and I first saw this soon after the real Star Wars came out. This would have been about 1978. I was 11 years old and we laughed our heads off. 31 years later and I am still laughing!!

  • 0:27 lol

  • 5:00 i totally love it

  • Any body remember the other satire movie that cam out about the same time called "Close Encounters of the Nerd Kind"... Let me know if you find a link... Its not on YT...

  • Its Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind .. and I dont think its on YouTube

  • The greatest parody of all-time. I still have this recorded on my Betamax and VHS tapes from back in the Stone Age.

  • The first time I saw this was via my friend's 16mm print. Such a classic. One of the things I love about this is that the late, great voice-actor Paul Frees (a/k/a Boris Boris Badenov, and thousands of others) is your friendly narrator.

  • I remember laughing my butt off at this when I was about 11 yrs. old. Not nearly as funny at 42, but still worth a few chuckles. ("Nah, you go on without me. I'll be all right. Don't worry about me.")

  • Hey, at our age, nothing is as funny as we remember it! They don't make shit like this anymore, and I feel fortunate to have been a part of that time period...

  • i remember this movie. i saw it when i was little i think it was on HBO. about 78 i believe.

  • You're right it was on HBO. I remember watching it in '79-'80. I didn't have HBO before that so if it was '78, they were still showing it a year or two later.

I haven't seen it since then probably either, and I'm happy to find out it's still funny.

And to whoever posted this, thank you!!!!!

  • anybody notice at :57 the destructo-vision is already on and Darph Nader then shuts it off to blow up planet Basketball

  • "Take it easy kid, it's only a movie!" :D

(But seriously, I always wondered about that switch...)

  • thanks for saying that he turned i off lol

  • lol 2:33 star wars written backwards with 77 under it.

  • How did they ever get Paul Frees to narrate this? Was he hard up for cash?

(He was the legendary voice of Santa Claus in the "Frosty the Snowman" cartoon from the 1960's).

  • He did the voice of "Journey Through Inner Space" at Disnyland and Walt Disney World. and Rocky & Bullwinkle.

  • Great to see again, though not as funny as I remember as a kid.

  • hahaha!! i was in the 1st grade when this came out!! i remember watching this on "on tv"!! how funny! you'll laugh. you'll cry. you'll kiss three bucks goodbye!!!! lol

  • then you link the cable to the right 1 80 degree angle*continues*

    huh??

    you pull the plug lol

  • Darph Nader's voice LMAO

  • That was much funnier 30 years ago when I was 6!!! Somehow it has lost its appeal!

  • Yeah I saw it about 30 years ago also. I hear ya. However it was nice to see again.

  • Hardware Wars, un corto di 13 minuti del 1977 che Lucas ha descritto come la sua parodia preferita. Fonte: Wikipedia

  • wow. i finally watched it. its cool.

  • Thank you! I have not seen this in 30 years.

  • this movie fucking rocks. best i seen in a long time

  • I haven't seen this movie since I was in 1tth Grade (back in 1979-1980) and all of the Math and Science teachers showed it in class. Funny then, and still humorous today.

  • I have Hardware Wars Special Edition - they actually put in CG effects like redoing the hyperspace effects and CG animated eggbeater fighters. :)

  • And, like the Star Wars rereleases, the original is still much better.

  • lol fighting with a garbage!

    human vs garbage : 0-999999999999!

  • "take it easy kid, it's only a movie"*

  • Martyr!

  • Darph Nader's voice LMAO!!!!! "I can't understand what you're saying!"

  • Tractor beam lol

  • lol everyone in here looks high.

  • omg i saw the naked lady 4:58-4:59

  • youll laugh, youll cry, youll kiss 3 bucks goodbye hehe.

  • Omg this is awesome!!!!

Btw at 2:34 it says on a wall "S Raw Rats" which is "Star Wars" backwards.

  • Did anyone else see that naked chick at 4:59?

  • My dad and I watched this on HBO all the time about 30 years ago, when I was in the second grade. I used to love Arte Deco. I never noticed the naked chick back then. I wonder if my dad did. Something tells me he did.

  • Yeah, I did. But she's not fully naked

  • Princess Anne-droid has some nice big...

    cinnabons!

    You'll laugh...

    You'll cry...

    You'll kiss three bucks goodbye

  • "Fluke? Fluke... trust your feelings, Fluke. And if you can't be good, be careful."

  • does anyone remember that Steve Gerber used May the Farce Be With You for one part of his Howard The Duck Star Wars parody

    but I still love

    You'll laugh

    You'll cry

    You'll kiss three bucks goodbye

  • Man, I wish a movie ticket was still $3.00.

  • @jordanthewizard I wish movies were still watchable in this century

  • I haven't seen this in over 25 years and it was still as funny as ever-LOL!!!!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

What is it Augie Ben Doggie? did you feel a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced?

    no, just a little headache

I still quote that line, the other fave is:

I musssst try to find that tractor beaaaaaaaaam. AH! There it isssss...

We'll go in here, I insist.

Forget it sister I--- okay, Im with you.

  • You bet your asteroid's kid!

  • No you go on with out me, I'll be all right. dont worry about meeeeeeeee...

    Ah, what a martyr!

  • I remember they would show this at like midnight on the "local" TV stations - remember those?

And 20 years later I realize that Darph Nader sounds a lot like Mr. Skull from the Residents.

  • It was like a fraction of a second long, was it really that traumatic?

  • planet basketball, sorry! Great Vid!!

  • LOL! He turned the laser off to blow up plane basketball! Hilarious!

  • "Get us outta here!"

"Take it easy, kid! It's only a movie."

  • great stuff!

  • Fluke looks like Micheal mcdonald from MadTV

  • i havent seen this version since i was a kid.i'm glad you did'nt put up that anniversary dvd version with the lame cgi effects.

    this one is tops!

  • Thank god for the internet! I have not seen that since the early 1980s... A lot funnier than I remembered...

  • Chewbacca tried to eat the cinnamon bun! lol

  • He isn't Chewbacca here, he's Chewchilla the Wookiee monster! :D BTW, in RL, he's a Cookie Monster doll that's been repainted. :p

  • At 1:46 when Fluke is complaining about how the ship is out of control, ham salad says "take it easy kid, it's only a movie." LOL

  • The briefing was hilarious! And Artie Deco's beeps were the best part of the whole movie, I couldn't stop laughing!

  • Nobody understand what Dark Vadder says !!! I thought that was only because I don´t speak english. :P

  • Don't worry 'bout me !

  • I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bwahahahahah!! *snort* haven't heard/seen these in DECADES. thanks for the laugh!

  • So I'm right in guessing this is a 1977 film, since kd5ful saw it in '78. I've never seen a Star Wars, just the parodies. Thanks for putting this up!

  • "Don't destroy Basketball...is a peaceful planet!!" And Chinchilla gnawing on Anne-Droid's honey-bun hairdo. This was fantastic for it's time. Thanks for th' post!

  • I haven't seen this in years! Very funny.

Did you notice that Nader destroyed the

planet by turning the switch FROM on TO

    off?!?! Great parody!

  • What a well done film. As a bonus it features the voice of the Late Great Paul Frees. Paul must have had a slow week. Paul did hundreds of various cartoon voices over the years. Ernie, Great job. This brings back a lot of memories fro the early days of Home Box Office. Does anybody have a copy of "The Stop Over" that film played the same time as this one did.

  • Naked Chick during the last few minutes on the "Rebellion's" battle plans part O.O

  • 4:35 lol

    I've loved this for years.

  • lol "S Raw Rats" is Star Wars backwards

  • lol "S Raw Rats" is Star Wars backwards

  • I remember this from Mrs. Double's class in '78.

    I was in 4th grade.

    NICE!!

  • 4:58. wtf???

  • still funny have not seen this in years

  • they stole the "may the farce be with you line" that's lame

  • Considering this was made in 1978, I don't see how they could've stolen that line from anyone. To whome are you asserting that this line was stolen from? Spaceballs (1987)? Get a clue, buddy.

  • You get a clue. I'm not talking about Spaceballs. where in Spaceballs does anyone say "May the farce be with you"?

  • Farce and Schwartz sound awful similar.....

  • Farce existed as a word long before any Star Wars parody. Doubt they stole it as it's a simple jump from "force" to "farce".

  • Ham Salad "Forget it sister I got... Ok I'm with you."

  • omg May the Farce be with you.

  • hey naked lady at 4:58!!

  • Best battle plan ever!

  • I dont understand what you're saying!

  • I haven't seen this since they showed it at my school when I was in the 5th grade. Thanxxxxx sooo much for posting this gem! :)

  • I've been waiting 30 years to see this, well done!

  • LOVE Darph Nader's garbled voice LOL

  • Hilarious!

  • Every time I see the tractor beam sequence in Star Wars, I can't help thing of that little cartoon tractor....

  • I thought the lighspeed scene was funny at 0:08. Doesn't it sound like "Mary Had a Little Lamb"?

  • wow, I've seen this several times before and I've never once known that there was a nude woman during the briefing.

    Must've been censored,lol =/

  • The Death Star's a waffle iron.

  • 3 bucks??? I feel old.

  • Heh, I saw Star Wars for a 2.25 matinee

  • Yea, on showtime. It was called Showtime Shorts. They also showed Bambii vs Godzilla.

  • When did this come out?

  • Haven't seen this in years. I love the wookie monster eating Leah's sticky bun hair. Ooh that almost sounds dirty.

Now I have to search to see if this site has Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind. A Close Encounters parody.

  • I forgot all about this parody until I came upon it by mistake. It's still funny after all these years.

  • "That's just a headache!"

  • The wookie monster lol

  • Golly! Wowie!

  • OMG stop it It's too funny I never laughed so hard ever and it's sooo classic. This just goes to show that you don't need money just a good sence of humour! 04:45 is the best ahahahaha rofl!
