Sounds like Bergonzi, one of the century's greatest operatic tenors and most elegant singers. It has happened to all great opera singers at one time or another. Nightmarish
I'm laughing my ass off!! This is GREAT!! Even if among musicians he was the best singer ever to walk this earth, everybody else will still know him as "that Tarzan guy"! It takes five seconds to ruin your career!! :S
@Emanuelvocal As a tenor with acid reflux, that can be the case, but judging by the severity, I'd say not this time. LOL, I tried it and pretty well the same thing happened- my voice cracked, but instead of regaining control like he did, I went straight into some weird screechy falsetto note. XD
Then again, I'd bet none of us were there and only he knows what really happened. XP
I think everyone has 'acid reflux'- too much sugar or milk, and anyone has it. or most anyway. one thing that i know that really causes vocal cracks, is the silent nasal drip and down the throat.

@WonderIsGood it 's sad actually but you have a point, this is probably the worst thing that can happen to a professional singer!!!!

Tarzan is that you?
lovelyliv2010 6 days ago
Poor tenor! Is not Carreras, is probabily Carlo Bergonzi at the Scala of Milano in 1976, i have read it on a italian newspaper.
Fabioge1981 6 days ago
It's either Carreras(probably) or Domingo.

the approach to a high note is so fraught with danger for a tenor. Soprano's may just not get to the top but us tenors crack!

People, don't judge this as a bad singing technique, but a health problem.
This voice crack, happens when the stomacal acid, wet the throat area and it makes a great problem in the voice.
Reflux
