Why don't you try animating the clay, you will have much better results.

Press record then stop straight away, then move the clay a bit, press record then stop, move the clay, etc etc..... then put all the tiny clips together and it will look like it's moving, and you can talk over it then.

It seems a shame to spend the time making the characters then just have them be still when they could be moving.
