  • Ric Hall, great playing

  • I don't think any musician can wear overalls like buddy.

  • One of my friends turned me on to Buddy. I was just starting to listen to the blues with Robert Cray & Jon Butcher then I heard this guy!!!!

  • Is Buddy playing with a pick or his fingers here?

  • I adore Buddy Guy. Been to 3 of his last 5 birthday parties. I will say to all of you blues fans. I love blues as well but the greatest person to pick up a guitar is without question Tony Rice.

  • Mr Hall plays the same licks over...and over......and....over...at every show I've seen.

    But hey....I'm paying to see Buddy.....and he's great!! :)

  • How does Ric hall plug his guitar? There no cable from the jack...

  • @sirgerry it's wireless moron!

  • @pastelitoblues No tienes que ofender, tenías que ser argentino, Ya sé que es inalámbrica pero si te fijas bien, moron, no se le ve salida desde el jack de la guitarra.

  • @pastelitoblues ,

Yea, and hooked to one of them stolen hubcaps that spins !

  • Chuck Norris takes guiter lessons from BUDDY!!!

  • wish junior wells had stay as much as buddy with us

  • In the words of Eric Clapton "Buddy Guy is, without a doubt , the greatest guitar player alive".

  • @wmfay60 It's funny how people quote famous musicians to prove a point. If Clapton says it.....it must be right....no?

  • I remember when I saw Buddy Guy perform live. I hadn't heard Ric Hall solo before, so when he stepped in, my reaction was to yell "HOLY CRAP!"

  • why cant black people be this cool

  • why cant black people be this col anymore

  • the outfit seems to work with the blues well....

  • Okay just stop it! This Blues video turns my white socks blue. This is gonna be regular stop to get my MOJO fix!

  • Ah haha! when i first saw Ric Hall i was like wtf? what's the hip hop dude doin' here? but he ripped it' hard like Buddy!

  • WTH @ 3:04 LOL XD

  • @TimBirkenholz Yea LoL and good for nothing

  • Buddy Guy just ripping man! But the crazy thing is if some young white guy got and play the same thing as either of these guys, some shit-ass Bluez Nazi would have some negative comment to make.

  • ya never would of thort that a guy whos in his 70s could still play like he was 20 haha

  • ric hall is a very talented guitarist, on montreaux blues 04 he does a great solo after buddy

  • that secons guys just jay z playing the blues

  • wow......this is to much

  • No Scott Holt anymore?

  • It's a blessing to be that damn good, but Buddy is super blessed.

  • The Second guy isn't that good. He keeps doing the smae thing over and over and over!!

  • Ric Hall?

Yeah. He's like that in most of his videos, but he still has some pretty good skills.

  • not rly. it seems like its like that, wait till you see them live though. its magical.

  • We survived the death of Jimi because Buddy was still alive

  • so so true

  • true

  • is that his parkinson's acting up at 0:39? jk great guitarist 5*

  • love buddy got to see him at hampton beach casino, going to see tribut to hendrix buddy is going to be there cant wait

  • I saw Stevie, I missed too many of the others before they were gone, I pray I get to see Buddy, please let it happen!

  • Don't miss it. I saw him once and, if the show is hot like this one, it's an experience for life.

  • Buddy plays clean, quick, with style and feelings.

Ric Hall seems a bit flat. Not bad, but not like Buddy.

    The 2 dont compare!

  • Buddy was playing with his teeth and behind the back before Jimmy or Stevie Ray ever made it to the big stage. Also, Eric Clapton has said many times that Buddy was and always will be his favorite blues guitarist.

  • very true. Also Buddy Guy was Jimi Hendrix's main influence.

  • Eric Clapton says Buddy Guy is "without a doubt the best guitar player alive."

  • AWESOME!

  • Awsome

  • the thing that makes a great blues artist great, is not what you hear when they play...

its what you 'feel' when they play...and my friends nobody is a 'better' blues guitarist than Mr.Guy!!!

  • best place to see Mr.Guy imho is at his club Legends..in chicago..its so close and you definitely know you are in a blues club...its funny mostly all young folks who say this guy or that guy is 'better' than Buddy are only going by one or two youtube videos of Buddy..i showed a young guitarist here a short clip of Buddy tearin' it up.he had never heard of Buddy til then..he was like wow!! damnnnnnnnn hes tough..then he wrote buddy's name down and said he was gonna show his band..

  • elevator music for blues bashers...a borrrrng wank

  • Buddy rocks.

And, I just found out that I play the same brand of amp as buddy and ric did in this video (chicago blues boxes), and I think I have rics same model. Buddy has his own signature model.

Nonetheless, their tone is great, and this is just a great video.

  • gotta love the polka dot stat buddy plays. even though i play metal i would still play that freakin strat, its so cool

  • Yeah great and he also has a black one with white dots and a red one with white dots.

Great guitars to see and hear!

  • if you go to 'Legends' Mr. Guy's club in Chicago..you will drool looking at the autographed guitars hanging on the walls...

  • dude i was there for the first time just last week, awsome place, saw luriie bell play too and some singer called tommy mckracken who was really rockin too. Great place.

  • I want to see him in concert now and buy a DVD of his concerts!

  • buddy guy is the original guitar hero, nest to chuck berry and bb king. waaaaay before clapton, beck and page.

  • ye how do you spin you guitar ike that that was cool :P

  • how did he rotate his guitar like that?...reminds me of zz top

  • What the fuk has Frusciante got too do with blues u wanka?

  • I saw Buddy in July for the third time. He barely ever comes to Vermont, but when he does, he fuckin' rocks. Ric was playing amazingly in Hoochie Coochie man and it was probably one of the best concerts I've seen.

  • how olds this?

  • North Sea Jazz Festival Rotterdam The Netherlands 14 july 2006

  • buddy guy is the master, and ric hall is toooo fuckin sick!!!

  • Frusciante couldn't lick Buddy's boots. Get your mind right.

  • he probably would, he'd get down on his knees and beg.Don't get me wrong, Frusciante's good, he's very clever in his riffage, but he's not quite like Buddy Guy. He's a different style of player, too.

  • Wow, Frusciante is great, but even close to Buddy Guy. They shouldn't even be mentioned in the same conversation. I wonder how old you are, what your musical knowlege is. I graduated from the same school as Frusciante and every instructor there is better than him. You should learn more about music before you make a comment like that. If you want to argue music I will I had same teachers as Fruciante. Let me know when you are ready to be schooled.

  • both amazing, you cant compare them. best to keep comments about frusciante under his videos and vice versa.

  • Dude, you are way off.

    1. Frusciante may have better technique, but technique is a means to an end, not the end, therefore it is nearly irrelevant.

    2. Buddy Guy was self taught, Frusciante and other players have built of the backs of the likes of Buddy Guy.

    3. They play way different styles, so a comparison is hard, but Buddy Guy had a lot of sort of funkier stuff, so i tihnk he could probably match Frusiciante.

    4. I doubt that Frusciante would make such claims, he is more humble.

  • Buddy built the house that Frusciante lives in. You have the musical intelligence of a 9 year old if you think Frusciante is a God and Buddy isn't.

  • ahhh how exactly do you know who built his house?

and if you really knew what skill was youd know that no blues guitarist could ever be a god bar clapton

  • Huh?? Wait, so you're telling me Hendrix isn't a god? And SRV isn't a god? And it was a figure of speech you moron. Oh and btw, I'm sure if Frusciante ever heard you saying that blues guitarists aren't great, he would slap you in the face. Go away and keep your ignorant comments in the Chili Peppers videos, where I won't read them.

  • Reme, ber Duane Allman..he'll bring you back as well

  • Oh yes dont ever forget Duane

  • fuck derek trucks is badass as hell too.

  • godamn it. it was sarcasm asswipe! frusciante would kick the shit out of you if he heard you saying Blues guitarists arent good. his main influences ar ethese great blues people. Chilli Peppers are GREAT i LOVE them! BUt you cant compare Frusciante as a guitarist to Buddy guy and Eric Clapton.

  • quite simply my friend...you have lost your fucking mind...lol.

  • The drummer is Tim Austin. been with budyy a couple of years...Great drummer!!! Has played with some of Chicago's best

  • see you on july 16th, got my tix, and can't wait....you're awesome.....

  • wow, that other guy, rick hall or whatever, was playing some repetitive stuff. i don't know what he sounds like playing other stuff. but if i had to judge by this video alone, he doesn't even deserve to be up there with the great buddy guy.

  • You gotta love this kind of stuff

  • They did this same guitar battle thing when I saw Buddy live at Byron Bay last year, spinning guitars and all. Unreal show.

  • They are Fantastic !!!!

  • I saw these guys in Tucson in September and they did this. Ric Hall is the only guy I've ever heard who makes tapping sound bluesy.

  • Ric Hall is a great guitarist worthy of cutting heads with Buddy. Check out his website at www.ricjazguitar.com He's also a really great guy to talk to and signs autographs for fans unlike Buddy as of lately.

  • Thanks Mr. Guy.....so sorry that I missed you when you played in Collingswood, NJ

  • is this on north sea jazz this year buddy is amazing, i wish i knew it he was here in holland, then would buy a ticket but now it is too late
