My dad bought the video YEARS ago, and said it was his favourite programme when he was young, me and my brother used to watch it, and I've come back for more :D
Right! I'm buying the DVD set to see if Nogbad gets away with it and I might even let my daughter (7) watch it as well. All the garbage that gets pumped at her from the box and there's Noggin the Nog on DVD in waiting, and Ivor the Engine! They don't make 'em like this any more.
As a kid thanks to Noggin the Nog I loved the whole idea of myths and Scandinavian Sagas and from that got into history...from that I got into archaeology and did a degree and a career! All down to an animation!
love this!!!!!!!!!brings back loads of memories. if anyone can remember sugarball the jungle boy and old chief bilbo i came across it a while ago on youtube check it out.
Super stuff - they don't make cartoons as good as these anymore. The children have an old video of the Noggin & the Pie. Can anyone tell me if Noggin the Nog cartoons are available on DVD? Stuart.
You can get them on DVD. Just G@@gle for Dragon's Friendly Society. They convinced Oliver Postgate to bring the films out on DVD, so it'd be great if you could support the man's genius! AND YES the rest of this episode is on the DVD. Thanks for commenting CS
b&w gives it an authentic feel - it''s how most of us saw it, even on 70s reruns! Colour on the video set was quite a shock! It deserved the best, though.
can't you see if you happen to have the rest of that episode, i am now on total tenterhooks and I only came on for a bit of 'nostalging'.I probably won't sleep tonight

forgot to say in previous comment, Oliver Postgate has the best voice ever for commentary over an animation. Stayed with me for over 40 years !!!

Anyone else notice the similarity between nogbad the bad and Dick Dastardly?? Oliver was obviously an inspiration.
suffolkdave 3 years ago
I thought that too. I always thought of Nogbad as Dick Dastardly in a viking helmet.
