What's remarkable about this discussion is just how familiar it is to me since trying to engage the average You Tube user in a discussion covering just about any issue.

That's not the first History Today sketch, it's the first one on that Newman and Baddiel programme. The first ones were on The Mary Whitehouse Experience.

No that's Vic Reeves. There's plenty of evidence, Newman was capable of subtlely nuanced impersonations like his art-teacher guy. You sound like you're not really familiar with his material. You are right about Baddiel though, having some witty and clever moments. They certainly were moments. Maybe one an hour. Baddiel was never funny, just a twat with a wobbly voice like Ian Hislop. Bet you think he's great too.

Listen to your bullshit. "You tried to insult my taste in comedy" you say, like your're some kind of big man getting all offended and aggressive. Brilliant. By the way it's "YOU'RE a dick", - the apostrophe is used that way. You're just a bit thick man, no offense, you're just a bit simple and I like watching people like you on Jeremy Kyle. Only a proper bell-end would feel compelled to put CEO in his YouTube handle. Self-important little twat. Ooh I'm a CEO. LOL
@SolidGoldCEO Don't present your opinion as fact. Bercause I can find plenty of people, myself included. who'll argue that Rob Newman is the greatest stand up of all time, and History of Oil as the greatest stand up performance of all time.
"You that knob whose humour never stood up on its own and needed a funnier sidekick next to him at all times or he'd cry for his mummy live onTV? That's you, that is."

see that german man who befriended people from the internet with the surrepticious intention of perfoming canibalistic rituals and eating their genetalia, fried in garlic?
you know that morbidly obese american guy who got so fat he reached 600lb, and jerry springer had to cut him out of his trailer and air-lift him to hospital?

Hello Stimpy404, how are You doing Man...? Yeah. To answer your question, as far as I can understand both of the guys wanted first billing, they wanted their names first, Newman and Biddiel, Biddiel and Newman, Rob Newman wanted his name first because he believed he was the intellectual comedian behind the pair. He was the driving force, As the rift deepend between the 2 this sketch became more and more cruel until they were just ripping the piss out of each other. They wrote their own lines..
No Man...They can't get back togeather to make a Christmas special or something...They can't stand each other...They don't even talk to each other and haven't for years...
I love this show so much! I was only like 8 when these were on tv, my dad taped it and I would watch it every time I was of sick to cheer me up. They should really release a proper DVD boxset one day!
I don't blame them. Such a pity they split up. This had me falling on the floor - it was so reminiscent of playground silliness. I have not found much to laugh at lately, except for Catherine Tate.
