Cool game, not as good as the first 2 though. And its wayyy easier than the first two. Maybe thats why I didn't like it as much, but still I enjoyed it. Need to play the 4rth one still!!
@serb619 it predates Uncharted by several years. I've only played the Uncharted demo. Call me a dweeb, but I don't like games without auto aim on console. At least have the option to turn auto-aim on or off and let the player decide.
@serb619 Well this trailer does the game little justice the opening scene itself is very atmospheric the story line is great and it was without a doubt my favorite game when I was younger there would be little point buying it now though.
@dylanluke5 $5 download for PC at GOG, I think that's worth it. GOG is selling the first two games (directors cut and BS2 remastered) and offer the originals free as a bonus.
@serb619 Never played Uncharted, but I sure like to! However, this is not an actiongame. Its a thinking game. Like a mysteriuos puzzlesolving stuff with comedy inbacked to it! The results are great!
This was actually the first of the Broken Sword games I played so I really liked it. I immediately went to the first and second games and I can see why people prefer them if they played them before they played this one. I didn't like the fourth game.
i think this version was great. I dont understand why people wanted the 2d version. This was a great change. But nr 3 that is. Nr 4 sucked.
But another thing that is great about 2d is that is never looks old. While 3d gets better and better 2d pretty much remains the same. Maybe they should try mixing it like street fighter did.
@dave00dance I think it came down tro budget and finance. 2D games using sprites was getting too costly for some reason.
Personally I think they should have started making them Flash based games. They could be 2D, but then also be future proof and work on any system that has the latest Flash player.
really wow i thought it would be cheaper to do it in 2D and the only reason they changed was because companys wanted to move with the times,, like how jane jensen didnt want Gabrial knight 3 to be 3D but the company told her this is where games were heading..: (
but all in all im happy with the new point and click revival they seam to be getting it right but nothing has touched the classics so far.
@dave00dance It's the method of programming. none of the newer computers support it that well, and it takes tons longer to make the game the old way (and we know time = money).
As I've said, I think Flash would have been the way to go but you'd need the world's best flash animators most likely, and that could be costly as well.
They have destoyed the graphics in this. It actually look like the sims or something like that :D. It was perfect before so they should have make small changing to the graphic engine.

THIS GAMES SOO GOOD. Petra is in Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars but only the directors cut the part when your nico and you walk down talk to the flower seller she talks about a girl saying shes her "Cuzz' :O why'd george and nico brake up in the first place? I bet nico married that guy from the island in broken sword 2 who was gonna ask her to marry him :)
Some stuff in this trailer was never used in the actual game:
1. At some point, George is shown climbing the stairs at the back of Vernon Blier's apartment, and we all know only Nico can go through there.
2. In the scene where Petra tries to run over Nico with her car, Nico had different clothes than the ones used in the game. A fight scene between Nico and Petra is also shown in the video, but it never happens in the game, as Petra only threatens with the gun and then runs away.
3. At Susarro's castle, George is chased by a dog in the video - doesn't happen in the actual game. Also, in this video, at the same place, George wears the adventurer outfit, and in the actual games he wears the other outfit (black blouse, blue jeans, and a red and black jacket over the blouse).
I have been a firm Broken Sword fan for years, loving the cartoony graphics, but I was excited (and speculative) to learn they were moving to 3d. Only recently I brought the 3rd installment in the series and WOW, I think this definitely lives up to the Broken Sword name, only with more action and more detail. I would recommend you buy it. Now. It's really cheap on Amazon or Ebay!!
I love 3d... I actually work with computer graphics as an animator!
But let's face it.. When working with 3d, to reach the same quality achieved with 2d animation in the other games, you need A LOT MORE MONEY! What I see in practice is that productions tend to migrate from good 2d graphics to cheap and bad 3d graphics. It's not worth it.
I think maybe really good cell shading 3D could work well with the Broken Sword games. But it's the point & click element that made it popular. Searching around with a cursor on screen to uncover clues and action areas and so on.
Wow, last time I saw this trailer was ages ago, before I'd even played the game, and now I see it and wow, they changed a few things for the actual relese, I like Nico's outfit better in this trailer XD
i love that game!! it's one of the best games for me!!! George - I love you!! xDDD and I hope that there will be 5th part and you will be witn Nico again...!!!
i like 2d but sleeping dragon kept the broken sword formula and it worked well if the care and attention hadent been put in it sleeping dragon is my 2nd favourite after the original i dont like 4 to me it didnt feel life broken sword i dunno why it just did
I think the 3D ones are still good but this type of game just works better in 2D. there are some 3D ones that are good though look and Sam and max and escape from monkey island was pretty good
The 3D Broken Sword games looks completely different... they are good, but i've got to agree with you, that i'd prefer the two dimensional point and click Broken Swords... Shadow of the Templars and Smoking Mirror
Yeah the 3D games are alright but i think the 2d hand drawn look is better for this game game but sadly no publisher like ea, thq etc would even look at a 2d game now unless its on the 360 arcade or ds etc. I know revolution (makers of this game) are makingf a directors cut version of bs1 for the ds though so that sounds pretty good.
I only have 1 & 2 and i've finished them and love them both..i want 3 but, it sux that BS 4 is only on PC tho..i collect them on PSX &
PS2..it also sux that George & Nico break up for good in 4, i liked them together :( o well..i wonder if there's a 5 coming one day for PS3 or something?
Broken sword 1 and 2 Discworld 1 and especially 2, just fill you with that warm happy feeling you get when you play those special kind of games like Zelda The ocarina of time, the Mario lot Sonic the hedghog myst the list goes on,that certain thing is majorly missing from gaming nowadays i wish would come back,,it went in reverse like the graphics back in the day was not there but just pure awesome gameplay...now we have super graphics with shit games,:),i might try Broken sword 3 \m/
I tried to play Discworld Noir, the 3D game, and it was just bad. Not only bad, but it wouldn't run properly on my PC which had Windows ME at the time I think. Broken Sword 3 is good, it's a bit more platformy but still has strategic and puzzle elements. I've not played all of BS 4 but it was more of a return to classic point and click, though set in 3d still. It's just more economic to work in 3D since modern computers work everything out for you, whereas 2d games took up more time and memory.
It's true about the 3D thing,i wish they would just go back to cartoon/hand drawn but i dont think they can be botherd as it pobably takes alot of effort and shit, another reason why it's better cartoon/handrawn is it becoms timeless,,like i can still play discworld 1&2 and Broken Sword 1&2 and it dosn't age like 3d does,i liked Discworld noir but it wasn't as good as Broken Sword 1&2& Discworld 1&2,Discworld noir shows it's age alot,Pratchett should make another Discworld game, that would be cool
hey guys. the game was totally crap. it was more like tomb raider. just without a hot chick and no guns. i hope diablo 3 wont be such a disappointment. i probably couldnt bear it :-P
It's not too bad with a joypad. I played this on PS2, but I have a PS2-type controller for my PC as well. They did have a mouse for PSone games like Discworld (which I'd love to play again)and Broken Sword and Lemmings. All they have is a keyboard for PS2 which seems a bit useless honestly.
I, like most people is a huge fan of 2D adventure games, but this actually looks good for a 3D one considering the year it came out, i mean look at monkey island 4, it looks so bad that i didn't even buy it.
It was no longer cost effective to make 2D games the way they were making them. Modern computers and software meant they could spend less hours on the animation side of things.
I KNOW YOU WON'T BELIEVE ME, cause I wouldnt believe me if I read this but: I bought this game off EBAY and when I went to play it and it said I needed a registration number. I looked in the MANNUAL and it said the number was on some sort of printed card that was supposed to be in the box. I'm not asking for a serial number, just can anyone help me??
Freaking awesome game. I thoroughly enjoyed it hey. A matter of opinion, but for me personally the gameplay was fantastic and realistic, up until the end when you had to kill the dragon LOL. Made it interesting I guess hey
From what I heard the original graphic style was no longer economical for a studio the size of Revolution and that the 3D style was more cost effective. The 4th game "Angel of Death" went back to a point&click game but with 3D graphics. It is only available on PC. If Revolution partnered with a major studio who could understand the 2D point&click genre and give them the necessary funds to do those games, they probably would have. But most major studios see point&click as a dead genre.
BEST GAME!!, i found out this game existed on a ps2 demo!, i completed it with my dad, but we lost it, weere getting it again, but the WINE RACK was impossible
ive only played the 1st one n it was deadly my brother hated it at first but as soon as we got past the hotel part he was addicted!...i love the bit in spain with ur one and the chess board..oh and in the museum when u hide til closing time!n den nico come in the cat suit!
i've played the first one and i'm playing the second one next. i can't wait ! except nico's voice is gonna be different.. aww :( but i agree with devonport cuz like 2D was fun. But 3D looks really cool ! i'll be playing this very soon.
I have this game for the PS2, what a disapointmen, it's nothing like Broken Sword I and II.
I never finished this one, i never went beyond the "secret church" in the sewer level.

Sian123850632115 3 years ago
3D is not the problem. the problem is the FUCKIN KEYBOARD CONTROL.
instantnoodles 3 years ago 2
It's not too bad with a joypad. I played this on PS2, but I have a PS2-type controller for my PC as well. They did have a mouse for PSone games like Discworld (which I'd love to play again)and Broken Sword and Lemmings. All they have is a keyboard for PS2 which seems a bit useless honestly.

ridiculous crap, that is what it is.

I, like most people is a huge fan of 2D adventure games, but this actually looks good for a 3D one considering the year it came out, i mean look at monkey island 4, it looks so bad that i didn't even buy it.

gawsh... i loved this game but i think it should have been harder. Great storyline though! :)

Boah, this is crap... 1 star instead of 5, my mistake :)) 3d was obviously their biggest mistake, what for..? For fuck's sake!
vikingecske 3 years ago
It was no longer cost effective to make 2D games the way they were making them. Modern computers and software meant they could spend less hours on the animation side of things.

i agree 2d was better

I KNOW YOU WON'T BELIEVE ME, cause I wouldnt believe me if I read this but: I bought this game off EBAY and when I went to play it and it said I needed a registration number. I looked in the MANNUAL and it said the number was on some sort of printed card that was supposed to be in the box. I'm not asking for a serial number, just can anyone help me??
JamesIsraelson 4 years ago
That seems really weird, since the games I got don't need registration numbers at all. So sorry, no clue what to do.
KJGould 4 years ago
I found a serial number on the offical Adventure Company site. Thanks though.
JamesIsraelson 4 years ago
Hi ya sounds to me like you have a copy of the game, have you complained to the buyer?
I had a look on the net for serial numbers but nothing.
sorry

Although, I do prefer 2D when it comes to Point N Click Puzzle-Adventures but I still enjoy 3D.

Freaking awesome game. I thoroughly enjoyed it hey. A matter of opinion, but for me personally the gameplay was fantastic and realistic, up until the end when you had to kill the dragon LOL. Made it interesting I guess hey

bad game bad video I wish broken sword be more great on 4!
wakleet 4 years ago
f*ck this man, they should have left the graphics as they were, also left it point and click, Brkn Swrd 1 & 2 owned.
BulkingBrit 4 years ago
From what I heard the original graphic style was no longer economical for a studio the size of Revolution and that the 3D style was more cost effective. The 4th game "Angel of Death" went back to a point&click game but with 3D graphics. It is only available on PC. If Revolution partnered with a major studio who could understand the 2D point&click genre and give them the necessary funds to do those games, they probably would have. But most major studios see point&click as a dead genre.

bring back point and click!!!! im a big fan of the first two games and i bought this when it came out...still havn't played it...

The wine rack is to do with someone's travels ... all the information should be in the database you hacked into earlier.
