I don't understand either :) I just finished watching this movie just a few minutes ago. Was it ever really explained exactly WHY this was happening?

And, at the end, why did all of the children just mysteriously disappear when James van der Beek's character offered up himself?

Sadly, they own the rights to the film and can do or call it anything they want. I have no legal recourse in this matter. It is something that happens all too often and, right or wrong, they have the legal right to do so.

What's the purpose of a petition?

The purpose of the petition is to show Screen Gems that there is an audience for the Writers & Director's Cut and to convince them that it will be monetarily productive for them to release this cut of the film. I get my cut out there, the audience gets to see the film as it was intended to be seen, and Screen Gems gets to make more money. Everyone gets what they want.

Because they own the film does that prevent you from releasing your cut on the internet? It would be great to see it in any form. If it did well on the net, I'm sure ScreenGems would want to release it on DVD. Either way, I wish you the best of luck.

Sadly, I do not have the right to distribute the film in any medium. Internet included. However, I am hoping that will change sometime soon. I'm working on getting this cut out there as there is obviously a very large, very interested audience. Thanks for the support and interest.
