Great to see all these old election graphics. My favourite has to be the virtual swingometer from the 2001 election - graphics at its best. The most recent BBC graphics, in keeping with their graphic branding of late have been piss poor - I thought their US 08 election graphics were basic - a child could do better on PowerPoint. I hope that there is an improvement for this years election - but I will not hold my breath.
1:00 - the red tide of the Labour Party sweeps the country. The National Health Service, the National Minimum Wage, Tax Credits, SureStart, the Open University, VOTE LABOUR! VIVA LA BROWN!
I suppose we really shouldn't be surprised: "New Labour" practiced failed and discredited Conservative policies of the 80's- the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and to hell with the rest paying the bill somewhere in between- so before anyone gets their knickers in a twist at excitement of another Tory government,
just think some people have to pay the bill for all the greed and cutbacks.
There seems to be a resurgance with conservatives in a lot of places -- the UK, the U.S., Canada. When people get a good taste of the liberals and see how really bad they are making it, especially with the economy, they always go back to the conservatives. I hope the Conservative Party can make many gains in the UK in the coming years. I see this new 10s decade as the decade of the conservative.
Deffinately, I think New Labour has had its day, hopefully before it destroys the country. and even then there will probably be some dappy liberal ranting about Thatcher!
shouldn't be like a circus or even a football match!?
As much that I, too, like election numbers and graphics; hard nosing results and the like, SURELY this election should be about ISSUES and COMPETENCE which none of the parties seem to have been too good at...
But you can't really judge any leader's competence (except Gordon) because neither Cameron and Clegg have been in power yet. I think Gordon should go... and a new leader steps in! anyone but Cameron!
I get the feeling that they're both nice guys. Hopefully, they will avoid the mistakes and incompetence of Gordon and Tony- to say nothing of a certain Margaret- and get both real and nice with us. Best wishes, Nick
Channel4 have never said the Tories will get a majority of over 200
I've put it throught the system and the figures don't add up. To get results like that the percentage would be
Conservative 50%
Labour 18%
Liberal Democrat 37%
Others -5%
also on the others Northern Ireland contains 18 seats and they're not really contested by the main parties so the other figures on your one is also incorrect
It was the 3-D battleground graphic from the 2005 election that elicited a round of applause at my all-night election watching party. Was that one of yours?
I miss good old Jon Snow.

Yes, of course, Gordon should go...
As you say, David and Nick are untried.

that is a tad too optimistic for my Tories and Labour will have 225 seats
gopconservative78 2 years ago
Whoever made that prediction is a complete and utter spoon. For a start, there will be 650 seats in 2010!
