We have seen this fantastic tenor "progress and grow as an artist" (@ theintrepidfox1969) in the last 10 years of his participation in Rosenblatt Recitals and we've created a video out of his latest Rosenblatt Recital in 2007 if you're interested! He is coming back to the series next week in London and we cannot wait for his virtuoso recital!
He'll be at the ROH this year reprising this role. Hope you can make it to see him. I watched it via satellite from the Met. It was outstanding. I'm tempted to try for a ticket at the ROH to see it in the flesh so to speak!
@mickimg I saw him last year in the Liceu, Barcelona. He got to do a bis of this piece and people wouldn't stop cheering him up wanting for more. It was an incredible evening.
The beauty of live performance, for me, is the occasional imperfection. Singers are human beings after all, not machines. I agree, it's an excellent, charming performance.

at 3:14 "mais votre fille M'AIME" his voice almost "missed" the note, so that he sings the phrase in an unusual way. So far I had never heard a single weakness on Juan Diegos's voice, particularly on that aria, and it has to be found on the so-much expected DVD that I rushed to buy on 21/04!! Obviously it is the producer's gross mistake not JD's , for not having double-checked the DVD before releasing it. The rest of the recording is perfect. Comments welcomed !!

I think JDF is fantastic. I prefer this DVD to the DVD from Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa - setting La Fille in 1944 with American troops seems wrong.
I hope it isn't the 1944 setting at ROH in May 2010 but it will still be amazing to see Flórez.
