I am SO glad i got to see them live on that wave goodbye tour. But i wish I was at the final show. I have goosebumps just thinking about it. Trent alone on the stage at the end. Damn. I would have fucking cried.
There should be a fucking law banning stupid fucks from singing along to the goddamn music. When I go to a concert, I pay to hear the GODDAMN BAND. Not the sophomoric efforts of little twats opening their mouths because they think that somehow their braying over the music amplifies the whole experience. They deserve to have their heads cut off. Dicks.
@billbenblue Everyone enjoys the music in their own way, and its a sort of family feel and a feeling of togetherness when the entire fan base comes together as one voice to support the band they love. Do you know how dead a concert would sound if you only hear the band and not everyone else enjoying it too?
@Hellbound1234 Have you ever BEEN to a concert??? It's a hell of a lot more epic when you can HEAR the music playing and the singer singing instead of some drunk asshole belting out the lyrics in your ear
@billbenblue that's a bit harsh. I was at a concert once and the audience started to sing towards the end. It was well played out then, coz i could hear both the band and the audience's chant-like singing. Did well for the crescendo effect.
I see what you mean though coz i have been to shows where the fat guy nest to me got really annoying. But that was also coz tears for fears is crap and they didn't turn it up loud enough.
My only complaint is that each member of the band (or at least Trent) should have left the stage by ascending through the ceiling on a pillar of light.
i commented on this vid last year in september.. and remembering that his last show was in this month i had to come back and relive it one more time.. I know sometimes things are just hard to let go, but thats life. I know some of you have false hope he'll be back.. but it just isn't realistic. I can see another cd or two.. maybe more.. you cant take art away from the artist. however he is older and his music is meant to be performed by a young violent angry man. He had to call it quits.NIN4ever
This made me cry...Trent Reznor man...I don't know the future without him. He's helped me through so much stress, turmoil, and confusion, and now Nine Inch Nails is done. It doesn't seem possible. I wish him the greatest farewells and hope he has the life he has always wanted.
So unbelievably classy. I've watched this countless times and still get misty every time I see it. Unreal, Trent. Un-fucking-real.
Best way to end a show ever. If I'm ever in a band and we make it big, we're gonna do a cover of this song and this is how we're gonna close every show...because it's just so fucking awesome. God damn it.
Imo, I don't think this is Trent's final show. When a musician stops playing at a relatively young age, they can't stay away from it for very long (especially when you continue to make and record music which he is doing). Trent's what, 43? I think he'll be back withing the next 5 years. I can't see him not doing any touring for the rest of his life.
@simognr if it was the perfect ending, people wouold be silent, and keep there fucking noise and loudness too the end when he walk offf stage. A silent ending is perfect, not assholes yelling, but a soft fear well you dick fucks.
I can understand..but people are different..there's someone who stays in silence, for example, during Hurt, and there's someone who claps his/her hands...that's the world
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard Year Zero. Perfect ending to a great stretch. Been following NIN around Asia since 2005- wish I could have been in LA for this. Great to see it on video though. I'm sure Trent will be back on a stage somewhere eventually doing something mindblowing as usual. Got to give the a break though he has been pumping out the NIN on stage virtually non-stop for the past 5 years.
I'm still being pretty optimistic about this. Trent is in the best mental and physical health for a long time, and the most motivated I have ever seen. However if Trent isn't fucking around. I'm still happy he's still making music. =D
its hard to know that this was the last show ever in nin history. the day trent passes away is the day the world ends. i cant live with a true artist like trent being gone from our lives. just imagine being stuck with music from souljay boy and THe jonas brothers. that is what scares me. MJ is gone, we really dont need trent passing away i wish he could live forever and influence the new generation of today and teach them what music really should be like.
Just like MJ tho, he'll still live on through his music. But you are right, the thought of him leaving us is horrible; it would truly be the day the world went away. We luv u man!
The torch is in our hands now... We need to run with it. Our influences will never die. Trent is immortal, and we will be too. That's why it's important to make a difference. (And hopefully a positive one.)
@elmaschingon142006 trent or did influence our generation; without trent, timbaland would not be as half as good... pop took his dark brilliant life setting sounds and turned them into catchy riffs.
it is very very rare, you see you the last song ever by a band, seeing how this is my fav band. Its is FUCKING sweet!/sad atleast iv seen it....on you tube
I've taken this "live" ending of NIN in a way like the Beatles, who stop performing live and continued making studio albums... Fortunately, nine inch nails left 20 years of great live material, audio/video, bootleg, you-tube,ect, that future NailHeads will look forward to and enjoy. You better god damn believe it. The fact that this Internet world will forever contain this material, including the Downward Spiral: Live, is Friggin' Fanfukntastic!!! Trent Reznor did it right. No matter what....
i saw NIN in 2006 at the key arena in seattle, and again at sasquatch festival at the gorge in washington. honestly the two best live performances i have ever seen in my life. the fact that reznor makes his music sound better live than on CD is a testament to the fact that he is truly an amazing musician.
that is the most emotional thing i have ever seen... i really hope that he doesnt stop there.. but if he does then i wouldnt be able to see anyone with a better good bye than this show
I was here, but not as close as you were, just the wall back behind you. NIN kicks ass.Thank you for taking this video, I didn't take any because I was too busy enjoying it, but thank you so much for taking the effort for doing that. NIN is worth that. HELL YEAH.
That... was simply beautiful... No amount of words can describe it, but that is as close as I can get to portray my feelings. I'll miss Nine Inch Nails, but I'm glad that I got to see them on part of this tour. If or when Trent returns to the stage, I can only hope that he keeps this perfection, as I'm sure he will.
You're all entitled to your own opinion, but I personally consider "Pretty Hate Machine" to be my favorite and from my perspective his most well-structured produced album. Musically his most diverse, layered, artistically significant album in my opinion is "The Fragile"; with all honesty and sincerity it might as well be his most underrated as well. It doesn't recieve enough recognition like "Ghosts I-IV". I love Trent's instrumental closing of his touring carrier with "In This Twilight".
Thanks for the Memories Trent. You at least, had the Dignity to go out on a High, unlike Kiss and other Corporate Phonies who continue to do Farewell Tours for Money!!!
Well, yeah it's not a full song. It's just the melody oof Zero-Sum. I actually would have preferred Zero-Sum as the finale, but they did a good job and I shouldn't complain. It's sad that they had such a big exit, that they probably won't be able top. Really, I doubt they'll never tour again. Trent Reznor isn't even fifty yet.
Just my personal opinion, in regards to individual tracks/songs: "Pretty Hate Machine" contains so much aesthetic value by how much power those song individually contain. I still think "The Fragile" is his most significant work to date and his most musically diverse. If you want a reflective track that musically represented how Reznor felt during that period, listen to "Somewhat Damaged" or "Ripe (With Decay).
I'm in support of this statement. In fact, Ripe (With Decay) might be my favorite NIN trach to date, along with Just Like You Imagined. However, this was a decent way to end their live performances. It was a safer song to choose than Somewhat Damaged or Ripe (With Decay) Although, I think that Ripe (With Decay) would have been a perfect finale.
A bittersweet song for a bittersweet end. Triumphant, yet... emotional, to say the least. Glad I got to see even one show, and definitely hope we hear from NIN sometime in the future (after a long deserved break, of course)
Very sad moments. I think Robin sums it up when he takes his guitar off, waves then just stands there staring. Really makes you realise it's the end of NIN live.
I've been listening to Trent Reznor's work for approximately over a year, and I personally consider his most significant work to be "The Fragile" and "Ghosts I-IV". My favorite album of his is "Pretty Hate Machine", (of which I think is his best produced work to date); Nine Inch Nails ranks to be the second most inspirational band/act to me personally behind Radiohead. I'll always love Reznor's work.
LOL.. agree with ragenut.. PHM wasnt his best produced album, just probably the most electronic.. hmmm Id do a little more research before you start spouting knowledge. lol youve been a fan for a year, oook buddy. Theyre all great but Broken /TDS/Year Zero are all produced in better ways than PHM.
In this Twilight, a great song, when i first heard this song on Year Zero it gave me goose bumbs, i love this song, its sad that hes not touring anymore for awhile, ive been a fan since 1994, and the sad thing is that i have never been to a live show, tried twice in 2000 and 2005, sold out to fast, thank god i have a computer, lol, but it is sad, i love every album he puts out, even if it has to grow on you a little...
Most definitely tough to watch, my introduction to NIN came late in the game, but it hit hard, every song heard left it's impression the only way NIN knew how, deep in the heart, everything from aggression, retreat, reflection, they had a tap in every one and knew how to open it and when to close it. I hate to see it end but i will say this, Trent is superman, after all, how many people venture where he has and walked off the stage for the last time and continue his life. Lighter Salute!
I like a lot of different music, artists, bands etc.But the only music that I feel personally connected to and in touch with is NIN.NIN touches my heart and soul.there is no music I enjoy as much as Trent Reznor aka NIN's music.WOW!!!!
There is quite little in this world that I care about as much as Nine Inch Nails. Personally, I want In This Twilight to be played at my funeral. I havnt cried in five years. This video got me close.
Its fitting that on this final performance Trent walks off into the bright lights at the end, rather than disappearing into the darkness like he used to do at the end of this song.
Agreed. See, that's why I don't get fans that hate everything that's not PHM or The Fragile. That Trent from those albums is a man on a path, and year zero was another step farther down that same path. All that rage, anger, hurt and pain that we identify with his music, you can't live inside it forever. You grow. Change or die. He changed, used this to make a way out. The Way Out is Through. Sorry, I'm rambling now, but I hope you know what I mean. Fitting lights indeed.
I love every album from him. Even though I have to whole heartedly admit that Year Zero, With Teeth, or The Slip is not my favorite like "The Fragile" is, I still love those albums. I think those albums beat out a lot of craptastic music out there today already and that makes NIN #1.
Agreed. I also appreciate the side of an artist that is not afraid to try new things. Ok, so Trent is the best at what he does, so he tries a no holds barred studio session and comes up with Ghosts. He makes an album practically while on tour and releases it for free because he values the audience. Hell, people hate things that are different (which I can understand because they love the original source SO much) but it's all about an open mind!
my comment was put out of context.. yeah I love those albums, I was referring to your earlier post above where you tried to interpret his message. Its something I wouldve said when I was on acid
after 20 years, it ends here. they lasted more in the mainstream than most bands from the early 90s. but its good that the music is gonna keep coming atleast. thats what trent said.
Yeah what a way to leave !!! NIN 4life!!!! I cried as well its sad because i have been a fan for years since the downward spiral album. Sad lots of us fans couldn't attend cause this small venue thing. But i honestly believe NIN will return in 3 years max and then fans will be blown away with their new album by then. This is EPIC BUT SAD. We will miss them
just f*cking epic. And i have to admit i teared up watching it also. NIN is the very definition of music to my ears. I hope instead of an end for NIN this is a new beginning for trent reznor.
I want to say its a Schecter. He used to use Gibson Les Paul all the time, and recently he signed with Schecter to make a custom model. Im assuming this is it since I didnt see it in the last tour and I could recognize all of his other guitars except for this one.
That was truly sad day....but it was well deserved.

PHM his best produced work to date???? REALLY???

I think it's fragile

nope its year zero
GalipokaV2 2 years ago
LOL.. agree with ragenut..

Perfect way to go out Trent...thank you.

So this is how he ends it... how appropriate. After all, every song on every Nine Inch Nails album cuts off right before it's...

That was amazing. PERFECT way to end it all.
Gotta admit...I got a little choked up at the end when everyone was waving goodbye and walking off the stage. :(

Does he say "Goodbye" or "Goodnight"? I can't tell.

Its fitting that on this final performance Trent walks off into the bright lights at the end, rather than disappearing into the darkness like he used to do at the end of this song.
Thanks for recording this gig - great videos!

I think those albums beat out a lot of craptastic music out there today already and that makes NIN #1.
dreaminfinity 2 years ago 2
Revor8453 2 years ago
what the hell are you talking about
Theonlywaytobe 2 years ago
1. I'm talking about Ghosts
2. I'm talking about The Slip
3. I'm talking about fans that only love 90's and earlier NIN albums.
Revor8453 2 years ago
my comment was put out of context.. yeah I love those albums, I was referring to your earlier post above where you tried to interpret his message. Its something I wouldve said when I was on acid

Ah, yeah it was a bit off the wall. Advice: Don't write YouTube comments while not sober.

after 20 years, it ends here. they lasted more in the mainstream than most bands from the early 90s. but its good that the music is gonna keep coming atleast. thats what trent said.

They went out as a class act all the way. Amazing vid and capture of the very last song.

just f*cking epic. And i have to admit i teared up watching it also. NIN is the very definition of music to my ears. I hope instead of an end for NIN this is a new beginning for trent reznor.

What kind of guitar is Robin using?
cricket502 2 years ago
I want to say its a Schecter. He used to use Gibson Les Paul all the time, and recently he signed with Schecter to make a custom model. Im assuming this is it since I didnt see it in the last tour and I could recognize all of his other guitars except for this one.
