But MLK was really no conservative. As a matter of fact, he organized many socialists and communists in an effort to gain civil rights. @SupremeAmerican Ive read Kings work extensively. As far as I know, had made no claims to conservatism. King was a Christian, and maybe social conservative (on some issues.) But still, he and his wife fought for gay rights and womens rights as well. And as far as your communist quote, I for one have never seen it. Paul Robeson, a known black communist, was a member of the CR movement. Christian, yes. Conservative, not even. Angela Davis, Paul Robeson, Huey Newton, Gus Newport etc. All leftists.

All of Kings close friends in fact were leftists, including James Baldwin. The historical revisionism is coming from the right (as it always does) in regards to MLK.

The (black) left has a broad christian upbringing through liberation theology that King championed. He came from the left liberal church. There is no evidence (credible) to substantiate your claims on King. The CP and the SP were deeply intertwined with the CR movement and AA's were better for having them. King was on the left, fact.
