  • Love the sound effects at the end!! Nice small block!!

  • i just bought a blower at a garage sle for $25 its from a detroit motor and i dont know how to tell if its a 671 or 871 can somone help me out

  • @MsMETALmayhem I've heard that that can be determined by the number of bolts on the casing, whether there are 6, or 8. But keep in mind that there are 53, 71, and 92 series Detroits. I'm sure they all use different size blowers. Hope this helped a little bit at least.

  • i cant believe the amount of negative comments on this. its likely got bone stock or very lightly ported/bowl blended heads..very mild cam and low compression. perfect for a rat rod/street rod. 87 octane..and enough power to have a bunch of fun. who cares if you can do better with less or list what you think is better or whatever. make a video and prove it.

  • Ok, I'll be the first one to say that is rad. I want it...I sounds great too, I love blower wine.

  • look up serious wheels.com and go look up a 427 cobra jet= 780hp and its a 427 not blown.........a 427 could smoke any chevy big block in a drag race with it modiffied and not blown

  • that engine is super short..........try a ford big block

  • Ur all fuckin stupid. I have a 355 sbc and I am close to 1200 hp. A 8-71 blower flat top pistons and a good cam and heads. Eagle crank and two dominator 1050's and it's parked under the hood of my 1986 chevy custom deluxe. So none of u fuck heads have a clue to what your talking about. And I'm sorry it's a 400 sbc.

  • DUDE, I COULD SQUEEZE 500 PUT MY SMALL BLOCK ...........

  • Not sopposed to be (pumping the gas) while starting a blower motor people! fair warning,

  • whats the compression on this bad boy?

  • this engine was obviously built for reliability and streetability more than maximum horsepower. 500hp and a smooth idle in that light car will be alot of fun. you can probably get away with a stock converter and around 3.08 gears, which makes the car more pleasurable to drive.

  • yeah buddy we got some you tube engine builders one of them know as frylok has never even uploaded a video about any engines he built btw nice pja1955 hows the motor?

  • i dont what you did wrong but all that motor and a blower and only 500 hp you seriously fucked up

  • That engine sounds GREAT!

  • @AaronHeidke186 Hey!...I drive a 4cyl hatch...

  • When was the engine made ?

  • yeah, sorry but I have to also comment on the 500hp part,I made a 355ci with 11:1 compression that made over 550HP on pump gas at 6000rpm,and it was extremely streetable with a 750 single pump holley. If I were to put a 6-71 blower on something and spend that much money into it,it better be pushing over 700+hp

  • @Frylok1177

this is very funny... 550hp on pump gas, 355, extremely streetable, and a small 750 holley? Shut the fuck up sir, as you have no idea what you are talking about! And yes im calling u out on your bullshit....

to make 550hp you would need good heads (btw no one uses afr btw , people who actually race use brodix) , around 13:1 compression (u would need race gas 110+ octane). and a cam with atleast 250 @ .050 and .550 + lift and a 1000cfm carb ... have you even ever built a motor b4 ?

  • @mynuffinfutsitch Wow you know ALOT about engines allright,SO all I need to do to get 550hp from a SBC is 13-1 compression, race gas,a big ass cam and 1000cfm carb,WOW,NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT.I'll shut up now because I'm wrong about building engines.

  • @mynuffinfutsitch AFR heads are some of the best out there...

only .550 lift..DONT MAKE ME LAUGH...

  • @mynuffinfutsitch AFR heads are some of the best out there...

only .550 lift..DONT MAKE ME LAUGH...

hell that doesnt even come close to getting the most potential out of the heads...have you built an engine before?

  • @75z28 AFR takes a lot of work to make good useable power, if you use a cam with .650 lift or up your gonna be changing springs in it all the time because the seat pressure will be insanely high with the amount of duration you will need to make a "streetable 550hp 355". When you look at heads MOST engine builders will look at flow @ .400 , this tells you how much potential power a head will make, not just grossly highly inflated numbers most head companies "want" you to look at

  • @mynuffinfutsitch HAHAHA

buy the right components and it wont

For 550 horse out of a 355 you need:

Good set of heads(AFR, DART, or BRODIX)

Solid roller cam-with .600 lift(buy the right components and it wont break a thing) duration doesnt have to be insane you can use around 240 or so at .050

    and about 11.5-12:1 compression

you need to use the heads potential rather than use duration to make the power...

  • @75z28 a solid lifter cam to most is not "streetable" bc your gonna have to adjust the valves. Also a solid lifter cam with .600 lift will have 300lbs plus (open) on the seat guaranteed, not street-friendly (ur gonna have to change springs every 20k miles). Also 240 @.050 duration isnt enough duration to make a streetable 550hp 355 bc your have to spin a 355 close to 8.5k rpm. 11.5 :1 compression is on the edge of detonation. Lmao 240@.050 isnt much duration w/solid roller cam either.

  • @mynuffinfutsitch its enough to make 550 horse with a .600 lift

11.5:1 with aluminum heads is fine with 91 octane

You wont have to replace the springs every 20,000 miles where the fuck do you come up with your stupid shit at? Obviously you have never ran a big cam with the right components...

  • @75z28 man you need to quit reading hotrod magazines and go talk with ENGINE BUILDERS! I personally guarantee and promise your build wouldn't be 550hp... 11.5:1 compression is to much for the street with pump gas. Another reason people dont run solid lifter cams on the street because of the fast cam lobe ramp rate is very hard on springs! And you honestly dont have enough cam to justify even using a solid roller cam! Pull the springs off at 20k miles, they WONT meet spec anymore!

  • @mynuffinfutsitch Funny you have no clue what you are talking about.. My littel 350 is at 450 horse with a conservative cam and 10.5:1 compression

Up the compression one point is worth roughly 20 horse, put a larger cam and better heads with that and you can be roughly at 550 horse, learn something before you speak.

They used to run solid lifter cams in the old dz302s and ls6s... Although they werernt roller they lasted with adjustments-todays components are better so you can run a solid roller

  • @75z28 MANY MANY motors had solid cams (have you ever worked on a motor?),BUT they were NOT solid roller cams and the lobes rates on those cams were VERY mild to say the least! 10.5:1 compression is THE most compression you can run with 91 octane gas on a SBC more than that and denotation can occur. 450hp is doable for a street 350, but we're talking about a 550hp 350! You said you needed a larger cam, which I agree, larger than 240 @ 0.50! Whats the weight of your car and trap speed BTW?

  • @mynuffinfutsitch 550 horse out a 355 is street worthy and possible with a cam at 240 duration

Look at the ls1s they can stab a 224ish cam, ported/polished heads, intake, headers, and fuel to supply it and they will make close to 550 at the crank.

10.5:1 is not the most you can run on 91, with aluminum heads you can get away with around 11.5:1

The question is have you worked on a motor, you can run a .600 lift cam easy.

Lemme guess you are one of them old school boys?

  • @mynuffinfutsitch That trys to stick with "old school is by far better than this new stuff"

Well...come to reality today is alot better than it was back then

  • i think its funny that everyone thinks they know everything about performance engines and bag other peoples work when they more than likley know nothing about it and drive their mums 4 cyl. hatch back get a life and grow a dick

  • omg stop hating,

my dad got a Volvo engine that is good for around 700 horsepower. and he only have 300 cause he wanna drive it dayly and normal, not spin all the time !

  • ok that looks like god send, it really does. but the idle sounds like its really high........ not to be a dick or anything but ive seen rednecks at the track who dont have blowers that sound better.... I mean like I said it looks badass, it really does but it seems like you put so much and didnt get a hole lot out of it. i dont kbow maybe its just me but thats my opinion.......

  • all these comments... maybe the dude just wanted a blower??!?! Blowers look and sound awesome.

  • blower must have been super hot to suck that bad

    i make almost 500 crank with a 400ci chevy small block n/a

  • Cool rod, no doubt.

Somethings wrong with the engine though- I can make 500 hp and 500 lb ft out of a single carb small block easily, and it still idles like a kitten. Ive got a video of it here on youtube but they dont let you post links

That thing should be making at least 700 hp.

  • Ha, only 500hp at the crank, I've seen Honda's get twice that at the wheels. You should quit your job as an engine builder, and go pick up trash for a living.

  • Comment removed

  • That was rat was absolutely gorgeous. I hope one day I can have one of my own.

  • those headers are sick as hell!

  • @andrew0901280 what are you?12?

  • @craigr13666 no im 19 not that its any of your buisness

  • Wow stop hating on this guy's build, you don't know what size small block it is. You don't know what kind of fuel he is running and I doubt most of you have every driven in a 500hp car. Also horsepower takes a backseat to torque, everybody brags about horsepower and doesn't know what makes it. Torque is what feel pushing you in the seat. This engine could have a wicked torque curve so stop being ignorant.

  • music played in the video who sings it, and say the name of the song if you'll be glad

  • George Thorogood. the song's called bad to the bone

  • stock engine with a blower foolish coulda got 500 with iit built for less than 1200 in parts rich dummy

  • @256dallas English is not your first language, is it?

  • @NoPlaceForLoafers Lol good one bud but yea it is just not the best at typing like ur not the best at building cheap more economic horsepower smh!

  • nice engine but ugly car

  • Wow 1. 5 horsepower per CI... not bad for an antique!

  • dude this is what a real motor looks like

  • Yeah im sorry but If im spendin that kinda money on a 6-71 weiand blower,Im gonna make shore its pushing out over 700+ horses. The 355 im building right now is pushin 530hp N/A.

  • acutally im changing the cam and intake and now its pushing 600+ on pump gas.

  • I'm thinking about putting a .383 storker w/ a supercharger paired up with a rebuilt 700R4 later this year...any suggestions on superchargers?

  • the hell with em turbo chargers

  • nice small cock chevrogay

  • Thats only why the entire line of Chevy's small blocks is one of the greatest motor lines...ever...not to mention consistantly Chevy powerd cars are destryoing the competition...Go back to your tuner or whatever you drive. Its nothing compared to old school Chevy muscle.

  • I want one for my 50 Study pickup..

  • ran a 355 with hyd cam stock 400sb heads 671 with 2 eldebrock 500s and front engine dragster ran 530s in 1/8 at 130mph.On my racing junk pics 'rickeysgarage"

  • i think is possible to get 700hp out of a small block naturally aspirated my uncle runs a 355 runs about 650 horse

  • maybe if you have 10k+ rpms, if you doen't have you need super or turbo charger

  • yeah thats why it says 671 blower dumbshit

  • Nice looking engine, rarely see supercharged V8s in the UK....

  • u dum ass 671ci small block !!?? they are talkin about the supercharger's size! dip shit !! think befor you open your mouth!!

  • 671? as in 671 cubic inch? + blower = 500 hp? what a hunk of shit, scrap that crap

  • at least he didn't bullshit the #'s. Do you believe the guys on here with a 383 stroker and a cam that they put out 700+ hp with no blower!??? I don't!

  • better do your homework pal. There are sub 400 inch small block chevys turning 700 horse, naturally aspirated and on gasoline, with one 750 4 bbl. 23° heads probably wont give you the numbers u talk of, but there are IRON heads out there that will give you these numbers.

  • prove it! 700hp with Iron...Please, naturally aspirated with NOS!!!!!!!

  • It can and wll be done, this winter. Better do your homework on SBC cylinder heads....the answers are out there, but its far from economical.

  • 6-71 as in the type of supercharger. Being a smallblock chevy it probably isn't more that 400 ci if its a stock block. so 500 hp isn't too bad, so i wouldn't be scrappin that shit.

  • It is called a 6-71 blower because the rotors come off a 6cyl 71cui/cyl 2 stroke detroit diesel. The rotors are (where) really hard to make so they just used the rotors off detroits.

  • O wait, i did fail - the blower was 671 *blushes*

    My faults.

  • Isnt the 671 like ~500 stock? 500 on the dyno with THAT blower cant be right, or do i fail?

  • Do you guys stay carbed or do you convert them to EFI when you put blowers on these.

  • What kind of block did you use???

  • Its bigger than my car!!!

    seriously...

  • iron heads?? what block is that....older style 0010 or something special? what did u use for pistons? forged 26cc inv dome with 76cc iron heads? i was just curious

  • nice how much?? haha

  • WOW!!!! O_O HOLY!

    IT LOOKS LIKE A TRAIN!!!!

    500hp is no joke btw...

  • ur not that cool, 500hp...

  • lets see.....030 over, mild cam & 8:1 compression and 4% underdriven, with 2 650 cfm holley 4bbl, with small 1-5/8" diameter headers...perhaps you can do better......oh and that was only at 5800 rpm..... you obviously have no clue about anything.

  • ha ha i wish i had the money you do, i have a 327 with one edelbrock 650 cfm, and it is bored 030, but no supercharger and only a 300 horse cam

  • @pja1955 use nitrometh, simples xD

  • @pja1955

I'm not sure but I think small blocks are known as a "mouse".

    BB's are rats...

  • @pja1955 hes right 500 hp? really? i can get easy 500 out of a tuner engine like a 2jz and itll be way lighter than that. waste of money. ok u got 500 hp but wat 4500 pounds?

  • @AllenPattison you just go shit on :) 8====D~~~~

  • The motor sounded sweet at high RPM's!
