  • Wow great frosting Betty thanks!!!!

  • are the 3tablespoons of butter a third of the whole butter stick? or a bit less?

  • @valeriab2610 There are 8 tablespoons of butter in a stick. 3 tablespoons would be 3/8 of a stick of butter, which is a little more than a third of the stick.

    --Betty :)

  • is confectionares sugar and caster sugar the same?

  • @ggg59402 No, caster sugar is fine-ground granulated sugar. Confectioner's sugar is a mix of ultra-fine sugar and a starch; it is sometimes called icing sugar.

    --Betty :)

  • Wow looks like a great recipe to use, would normal chocolate be okay for this recipe and how many cups of frosting approx. does it make??

  • @SLurPeeRusH Yes, normal chocolate is fine. It doesn't make a huge amount of frosting, maybe about 2 cups.

    --Betty :)

  • wat can I use instead of karo syrup???

    Thanks, luv all ur vids!!

  • @crazy4food4765 You may substitute honey in place of the Karo syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • this is my new go-to chocolate frosting:) thank you x

  • Hi betty! Will this frosting harden when the cake is refrigerated? I dont like it when my frosting hardens..

Your channel is big help! Regards!

  • Hi Betty, what is karo syrup, is it like corn syrup?

  • @cascade2244 Yes, it is. You may substitute honey in place of the Karo syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • hi betty :) what can i use to substitute the karo syrup? may i use cooking oil ?

  • lol, I was expacting an old lady in some flowerly jumper. thanks for the video

  • @Leilah88cupcakes The outside will dry, but it will be soft frosting.

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for this!:)

  • U r helpfull

  • You look so adorable!! I love the tree in the first seconds!! Love ur hair!! Thxxx subscribed!;)

  • Can I use this to roll cake pops? Because you need to mix the cake with some frosting. Butter cream didn't work, it was way to soft and tasted grows. But this seems a nice recipe, not to sweet also because cakepops can get to sweet because of all the stuff you have to put it.

  • @DarkConstruction I think this recipe would be fine for cake pops.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty makes me wanna move to the US.

  • HI Betty,

Thank you for the lovely recipe. Would you be kind enough to let me know if I can use cocoa powder instead of baking chocolate? Also could you please tell me the purpose of the syrup that you added?

  • @beckysamson Yes, you may substitute cocoa powder for the baking chocolate. You may replace the syrup with honey or a boiled mixture of half sugar, half water. It helps with the consistency and balances the chocolate flavor.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank you very much, Betty. You are a very lovely person...and a wonderful teacher.

  • I don't have that syrup so what can I use?

  • @supermusiclover7890 You may use honey in place of the syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks!

  • Does this frosting set firm, or does it stay soft like ganache? Also can you store it for later use?

  • @trulykiwi It is fairly soft, but definitely holds its shape.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks for your reply Betty. I am more interested if it actually "crusts" though. I would not like to have even a slight "crusty" surface. Maybe this is just a term you use, and I have got the wrong idea. To me something that "crusts" has a varying degree of "hardness" about the surface.

  • @trulykiwi This frosting is not as thin as ganache. You cannot pour it, and when you spread it, it will stay put. I don't think it gets crusty, though.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks again Betty - If I were to frost something with this frosting, leave it to set a little, and then sit another item on top of it for transporting, would the frosting stick to the upper level?

  • @trulykiwi I don't think the frosting would set in "minutes." and it probably would stick.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks again for your responses!

  • Great, useful and understandable tutorial. Thank you. And nice tree by the way.

  • Whats with the beggining

  • @kuse9 I was just giving you a little piece of my world on that particular day.

    --Betty :)

  • another question, could i use this frosting to do some cake pops? =)

  • @uru877 Yes, this frosting would be perfect!

    --Betty :)

  • hey betty, what is Karo syrup and what i could use instead of it? and please tell me how many grams is 1 ounce of chocolate =) thanks pretty!

  • @uru877 You may use honey in the place of Karo syrup. Also, 1 ounce chocolate = 28.34 grams.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen can i don't use Karo syrup or honey? thanks :)

  • @liyingongong You may use a syrup of half water and half sugar, boiled on the stove.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen ok..... Thank you so much :DD

  • @uru877 Honey will add its own flavor so you might need to adjust the quantity. Karo syrup is Corn syrup. You could also use liquid glucose or your own invert sugar syrup (1 part water to two parts sugar, research online for recipes)

  • Sorry Betty I meant is two teaspoons of liquids the same as one tablespoon of liquid?

  • @rachellesim1013 No--three teaspoons equals one tablespoon.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, is two teaspoons of liquid the same as one tab

  • Do u need the karo syrup

  • @MenchacaRawr549 No, you may substitute honey.

    --Betty :)

  • how many cup cakes can a frost with this measurement? thanks for the informative video

  • @charnieyanyan I would plan on 1 dozen; it is not a huge amount of frosting.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks for the quick reply. Looking forward for more video & keep up to you good works c",)

  • now thats good

    --Betty :)

  • Thankz for ur wonderfull recipe, I wana ask can we store this in fridge ?? and also the "All purpose frosting" and for who long ?? and any replacement for that syrup ???

  • @nabeelhayat Yes, you may store this in the refrigerator. It is called "all purpose" frosting, because you may use it on cake, cupcakes, etc. You may bring equal amounts of sugar and water to a boil, and boil it for about for 3 minutes. Add the amount of this simple syrup in place of the other syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

Thankz for your reply, I am making my sponge cake recipe taste good, only problem was icing I used fresh cream, but at room temp its starts melting :( ... so surly will use ur icing recipe next time. thankz once again, and one more thing u look great..... : )

  • @nabeelhayat Thanks for your sweet comment!

  • Betty! You're amazing :)

  • @rahrahcool Thanks for your sweet thought.

    --Betty :)

  • Can you use chocolate chips in stead of baking chcocolate? :)

  • @piglet102000 Yes, chocolate chips will be great. They need to be dark chocolate.

    --Betty :)

  • OMG!! a skinny americian, finally!! (: xxxxx

  • @itsagirlzlyf It is getting to be a rare thing. I just would rather be thin than to eat everything that I like!

    --Betty :)

  • This is a good way!

  • @gurdyflowers Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

How many portion is this recipe for? I need the answer asap please! :]

  • @11FreakTwilight It is enough to frost the outside of the 3-layer cake. If you want to use it between the layers also, you need to use it sparsely, or make a double-recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • very nice

  • @makeup118 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • FANTASTIC BETTY..PLZ BETTY CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT IS THIS KARO SYRUP ..what is the substitute of this syrup as i dont find it in my country...

  • @wildeyez1000 You can make a simple syrup of equal parts sugar and water. Just bring it to a boil and boil it for about 3 minutes, and you may use it in place of the Karo syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • I want to bathe in it.

  • @tylertyler82 It looks like a frosting that you actually could bathe in! Thanks for the sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

For the Baker's Chocolate, can you Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate or will it affect the tast of Frosting? I would like to make the Chocolate Eclair Cake again.

  • @LisaSMoscow7 Yes, you may use semi-sweet chocolate for the icing. It won't be as chocolate-y, but it will taste good!

    --Betty :)

  • Can I use cocoa powder instead of semisweet chocolate squares? If I can use the cocoa powder what and how much do I have to add in to the cocoa powder so that it's watery? Also can I not add in the Karo syrup if I have to what can I put in instead of that syrup?

  • @110cottoncandy Yes, you may use cocoa powder, and you may use 1/4 cup, or more if you like it darker. You may substitute honey for the Karo syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • I love your recepies ! Best channel on YouTube! Who is the one videotaping you? If you don't mind me asking:)

  • @Armeniangirlandproud Thanks for your sweet comment! My husband, Rick, does the camera work.

    --Betty :)

  • @vanchalover98 You can use anything for beating the frosting.

    --Betty :)

    --Eleanor :)

  • @eleanorissocoollike1 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • what is light karo syrup?

  • @kathjane Karo is a brand name for light and dark syrups. The syrups are made from sugar, water, and some other ingredients.

    --Betty :)

  • what is light karo syrup?

  • Looks yummy

Can I use chips instead of squares

    Thank you

  • @iamthesilly The chocolate may be in any form, as long as it is unsweetened.

    --Betty :)

  • Sweet, 2 Qs If I may:

    1. Does it spoil if it left in room temperature for couple of days..?

    2. Does it harden in the fridge like really hard...?

    Thanx that was easy, gonna try it soon =}

  • @SHioo5iH It probably would not spoil at room temperature for a couple of days; however, I recommend that it be refrigerated. It sets up in the refrigerator, but is not really hard.

    --Betty :)

  • Love it! It's like my mom's recipe. :) You rock!

  • @Taimuffin Thanks for your lovely comment! I really appreciate it!

  • Ok Betty. Thank you.

  • @Matin99SG I hope you enjoy the frosting!

    --Betty :)

  • Can u use it as chocolate sauce?

  • @Matin99SG It's a little thick for sauce. You could add more milk to make it thinner.

    --Betty :)

  • What can I use instead of the Karo syrup? Honey? Chocolate syrup? :o

  • @HammyLover55 It should be a sugar-flavored syrup--you could boil sugar and water to make some syrup, or use honey or golden syrup.

    --Betty ;)

  • Betty the frosting looks so good. Can I melt the chocolate over a double boiler? And do you use salted or unsalted butter for this recipe?

  • @bigbearfla Yes, I usually melt the chocolate over a double boiler. I used salted butter, but you may use either.

    --Betty :)

  • Nice and smooth!! Thanks Betty!!!

  • @TheVittleVlog You're welcome! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • First may I say how lovely you look... and would i be able to freeze the frosting until i would need it? Or should i just keep in the fridge? Your amazing!

    Sharon

  • @09RedRoses09 It would be better if you stored the frosting in the refrigerator, if you will be using it in the next couple of days, but you may freeze it. Just thaw completely and let it come to room temperature and spreading consistency.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks Betty! :-D

  • yummy!!! i looove chocolate!!! thanks betty for your video!

  • @beybideng13 You're welcome!

    --Betty :)

  • how do you do it betty? Your figure is so slim? With all that rich food you cook, how do you avoid the temptation of indulging in too much of it??

  • @MissPonderosa I eat about 1 bite of anything that has a lot of fat or sugar. My diet is mainly fruits & vegetables & protein--very little bread, pasta, rice, potatoes or desserts.

    --Betty :)

  • Yum:)! just a Q. if you put this on cupcakes and place it in the fridge will it harden?

  • @TheTruthfulPromise Yes.

    --Betty :)

  • yayyy !!!! you took your hair off of your face !! So so pretty :)

  • @bettyskitchen, Can I substitute the Kiro syrup with honey? And, thank you for the great recipe!!

  • @sabrinaloveyhearty Yes, honey is fine.

    --Betty :)

  • You need to be on Food Network!!!!!!

  • Can we get a sausage gravy with biscuits or chicken and waffles recipe??

  • @Dark0Malkavian I have a video on sausage gravy and I have homemade biscuits in a separate video. I have never done chicken and waffles.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty- The first thought I had when I saw the title of this one was "Yeah, I wouldn't even need a cake to eat that". My second thought was to wonder who you feed all your cakes to? You are obviously not eating them all by yourself. As a former sugar-addict, I am low carbing due to blood sugar problems, but I do enjoy your videos just the same!

  • Hey Betty,

I just made a chocolate frosting too. I am going to post it as a video response.

    The Sweetest Vegan

  • This I have to try, it's easy so I know I can do it! Betty... I'm sure you have seen the Jiffy cake mix, well, YEARS ago, Jiffy had a box frosting that all you would do is add water to it... I kid you not, it used to taste like the best homemade frosting... they still show it on their website but no store here in the Miami area sells it... give it a try sometime if you can find it! x Babs

  • Love your videos they are great!!

  • Yummy!

  • What a great and easy to make chocolate frosting, thank you for sharing this Betty!!

  • it looks super yummy... you should try the chocolate peanut butter frosting that I did up.. than I did chocolate peanut butter cream cheese frosting..to try to cut down on the butter/margaine... & it's super on Chocolate zucchini cake.. my kids love it.. Hubby thinks it's chocolate cake.. I had to tell him we were out of zucchini so he could eat it up too ;o) take care of yourselves Kimberly..

  • This look very yammi and nice, you are the best:)/Anna

  • oooh you look so adorable with your hair like that :DDD

  • If Betty makes it, you know it's good! Didn't know making frosting was so easy. No need to get store bought! Thanks, Betty.

  • @kaybees49 You're welcome! You're right; this is very easy, and it tastes much better than the canned variety!

    --Betty :)

  • Yum. Can I have dibs on licking the beaters?

  • @bfenti Sure!

    --Betty :)

  • hey Betty, does the icing sugar need to be completely melt in the mixture for frosting? coz I always confuse when is the right time to stop using the hand mixer.

  • @crocus It needs to be completely dissolved, but that happens very fast.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty!! Greetings from Italy!! I love your recipes and now that I have a baby girl in the future we're gonna have so much fun making them :)..

1 question, with what can I substitute the syrup even for other frosting recipes?? cause here in Italy I can't find light syrup

And a request can you make some fondant not with marshmalows.. here I can not find the marshmalows required

    Ciao and kisses!

  • @lulycheese Hi! Thanks for your lovely comment! You may substitute a plain sugar syrup in place of the Karo light syrup. Boil 2 parts sugar, 1 part water until thickened a bit, and use that for light syrup. I will try to get to the fondant without marshmallows eventually!

    --Betty :)

  • i have a question: can you put golden syrup instead of karo syrup? I dont know what that is! :-S

  • @lovelysister

I think you can substitute either golden syrup or even plain honey - any sweet, syrup-y thing will do since its not a very large amount to begin with.

  • @Muslimah1987 Very good answer; thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

No problem at all, Betty! =)
