Hey Kurume. Did you ever try minna no nihongo books? you can buy the series in train stations like osaka . Minna no nihongo has conversation, grammar, and kanji books. They are pretty good series i must say for learning japanese. and a lot of universities use them to teach japanese - they are offered in english (for engilsh users) as well as chinese and thai i believe. so not bad;).
Flashcards you say? you should try out Anki . Give it a google search, its a smart electronic flashcard deck you run on your comp in case you didn't know about it already. strongly suggest giving it a try.

Hey mate congrats on your first vid...I look forward to more!
When I went to japan for 3 months I really wanted to start a vlog too, but didn't have a computer. Maybe when I get a new camera I'll make some about my experiences.
@FindMeInKurume Don't be discouraged by the sheer amount of the characters. I learn 3 every day and have never experienced problems with them till today. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. Its easy, its fun, its culturally worthwhile and last but not least its necessary ;)
Thanks for your comment, I don't feel discouraged as much as overwhelmed :p and i couldn't agree more about it being worthwhile. Good for you on 3 Kanji per day! I am doing similar, 1-3 per day :P
@FindMeInKurume I was a bit astonished you could make it that long in japan without knowing at least the basic 2000. I would be probably scared to death if I couldn't read most of the signs, menues, maps and so on XD My guess is you will be amazed how much easier everything becomes once you are over that obstacle. There are some buddhist priests who use calligraphy as a form of meditation and self-expression. I guess I can see why. It's really sort of relaxing and at the same time enthralling
Your voice sounds like a mixture between Matthew Broderick & Pauly Shore :)

(Maybe you could have a Question time?)
Where exactly do you do for work in Japan? Are you apart of the JET program or something else? :]
What made you want to move to Japan?
Why have you stayed in Japan so long?
And I'll think of more for you're next video! :D
