@dannyz4 Well they're both perfect incarnations of the great white hunter and they're both presented as villains whereas previous literature and stories would show them as heroic figures.
Well...falling over a waterfall is a bit iffy, like the Hunter in Fox and the Hound movie-that guy lived...however, McLeach is different...question remains did he swim to shore or was he a snack for hungry crocs?
George C. Scott really made this role. He was an amazing actor when he was alive and really gave McLeach that super-creepy vibe. Like other people have pointed out too, the reason that McLeach is such a believable villain is because someone like him really could exist, with how prominent poaching still is across the world.
@toad33332 Someone like Clayton could exist as he's a hunter and Edgar cuz there's people out there that would dispose of others so they can get the inheritance
@bubba485 They were gonna make a 3rd one in 1996 but after the death of Eva Gabor (voice of Miss Bianca) in 1995 they scrapped all future Rescuers movies.
In fact, now that you mention it, I can actually picture the two of them right now, each taking turns sharing his own hunting tips and memories, and congratulating the other one upon having heard his... all over a game of cards I might add.
Poachin's a good job, mate! It's challengin' work, outta doors. I guarantee you'll not go hungry, 'cause at the end of the day, long as there's animals left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead and mounted on a trophy.
McLeach gets the prize for coolest vehicle driven by a villain. George C. Scott is awesome in the role. "The Rescuers Down Under" is one of Disney's most underrated films.
This movie was great but the ending left you hanging...did mcleach die or did he survive?? I mean in Disney movies characters have fallen off waterfalls like that and survived (the fox and the hound). Mcleach coulda survived. A better ending for his death would have to show the crocodiles surrounding him and cutting away right before the dreadful scene happens. Woulda been a typical Disney move to lol
If that boy was perhaps a few years older he would have taken the 50-50 split. Maybe haggled for a 60-40. That and would also be carrying a cellphone. Maybe.
@TheGreatCrow Sniper: I'm not a crazed gunman dad, I'm an assassin.
McLeach: You tell me, what's the difference?
Sniepr: What do ya mean what's the difference, one is a job and one is a mental sickness.
McLeach: You're right, that "Sniping" you call it is sickening! I mean, a scope on a rifle? Everyone knows you use a scope for a shotgun or you don't see the shell hit up close to the prey! I mean, why would you wanna kill humans why..
Sniper: Dad...dad..dad, put *sighs* put mum on the phone!
@TheGreatCrow Thank you thank you, I'm here til the weekend! I'm tepted to say Joanna was "mum" but the character limit stopped me...that and it would be awkward...very awkward.
@Jerrid120 His son realized that a getting a job as a mercenary in the US was a much more reliable source of income. Also, his father's reputation as a douche would not tarnish his own honor if he was on a whole other continent.
Also now that I'm older McLeach is one of the more realistic and probably one of the last Disney villians I'd want to meet. Well probably prefer him over a horny octopus version of Ursala.
Out of all the Disney villains, McLeach is the most realistic. Poaching, Kidnapping, forcing people to give him what he wants... He'd be on America's Most Wanted if he were real. err. Australia's Most Wanted. 8:07 Oh yeah. I forgot another one. Attempted murder!
Acts like Frollo too, except not as horny. @MrStevenstacy
I'd say the most obvious similarity is that each villain tricks the protagonist into leading them into what they want to find... Frollo tricks Quasi into going to the Court of Miracles by claiming to already know where the hideout is, and McLeach tricks Cody into going to the eagle's nest by claiming Marahoute is dead.
well their deaths are the same but where they fall off from are different. frollo falls of of notre dame with a gargoyle and mcleach falls from a waterfall.
Now this is what I think of McLeach, he is just the thing that saves The Rescuers Down Under from falling into the shadow of The Rescuers and why? Because he is so much more evil and diabolical than Madame Medusa was. Also when his eyes glow red when he's about to throw his lunchbox at Joanna, he looks like Australia's answer to Claude Frollo.
@MrMcb1990 Oh, I don't know...the scene where Madame Medusa takes down her make up und causally destroys Penny's self esteem in one of the highs of villainess..
@swanpride Well that aside, I think McLeach is worse than Madame Medusa because he actually intends to kill Cody, something that Medusa does not directly at least intend to do to Penny.
He creeped me out, to be honest. I think because he was in the vein of Cruella in that they were into the whole animal killing bit for the own profit. But what did it for me (and this might be me)...
Give this guy a clawed glove and I think he could pass for Freddy. *shudder*
You can add the villains like The evil stepsisters or Fiona from A cinderella story-Take a pick, Jafar from The return of jafar, Other mother from Coraline, Texas pete, Bulk & Skeleton from Superted, Mrs & Mr. Tweedy from Chicken run, Sid & Scud from Toy story, Long john silver & Polly parrot from Muppet christmas carol, Sa'Luk from Aladdin and the king of thieves, Prince pyjamarama from The further adventures of superted-Leave it to space beavers and Buxton from Dougal and the blue cat.
Dude the facial animation for McLeach looks like Governor Ratcliffe!!! And he does kinda sound like Sykes, if Sykes was alot more relaxed and less......Sykes-like....
This is one of those Disney movies I forget about alot compared to others, but it is a great one. Perhaps it's because I never realized George C. Scott was McLeach. That's awesome. They always pick the most top-notch actors like him for the villains. I also always loved Joanna. She was a better balance than some other villain sidekicks between comical and creepy. I miss when Disney put more thought into their stuff.
Look at McCleach, he has some scary teeth, a terrifying costume, an evil laugh and had an undesired plan that he take over the world. Over 9000 views, I think, YuckeyDevil752...
