  • Marty is beast! Rock on bro

  • YAOOO!

  • I am black with an afro and I give this the official seal of the stanky funk.

  • hahaha, press 1 ;D

  • Awesome lesson! Just one thing that puzzles me.. How to u play out the single notes while seemingly keeping your strum strokes going?

  • @tdquantum

Yeah i'm surprised he doesn't talk about that, but that's indeed the hardest bit. He's muting the other strings with his fingers. It takes a lot of practice

  • 13 :o

  • is it just me or is he stoned ?

  • @timmy2160

    its you

  • that was really kool thing..after the funk groove.........WAKAAAAOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..haha..i watched it so many times.....love u marty

  • thank u so much mate! hey anyone wanna hear a great funk solo listen to one of james browns songs called 'talkin loud and sayin nothin' right at the end theres a groovy little guitar solo :)

  • three thumbs up!

  • i love your lessons man !! great stuff

  • marty simply rulez!!!

  • If you add a slight bend when you add the 13th on e9 it get more funky! Its tricky but rewarding!

  • lol pleasure

  • I love ur vids man!

The one grove is not really a triplet ( unless u change da tempo) but if u stress every 3rd 16 in a group of 4 16's per beat, u get that funky grove.

    (1) e+(a) 2e(+)a3(e)+a(4)e+a

Now I gotta practice everything u were talking bout!!!

Thanks for all of do great vids.

  • lmao! marty shwartz. can a name get any more jewish than that

  • very tasty!

  • Marty can you give a lesson on picking up on hot chicks after the gig? Like some good lines. What works for you.

  • @swishersweetz No need to fret, my friend. If you all tuned up & like to hammer & if she don't got scales on her, she'll be amped if you pick-up her tab, progressing into no strings funkin! does that achord with you? she'd rather jam than solo with the vibrato bar...

  • wazzzzzzzzzuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that thing around 7:00 isn't that pick up the pieces ?

  • Another great tutorial with added pearls of wisdom thrown in for good measure!

    Thanks Marty!

  • hahahha shit man hahahaha marty dig you shit stooned

  • Nice lesson, now I want a hollow body guitar for that tone!

  • Marty another nice tid bit of Funk Thanks and My the Swartz be with you....

  • @BluesHeavy Dang I was going to post that

  • men youre the best teacher that i ever had

  • actually, 04:43 to 04:55 doesn't make any sense. still a good lesson

  • @afroloewe He means he is accenting 16ths in a 3 against 2 pattern. He is playing straight 16s but to add some polyrhythms he is accenting 3 against 2. Similar to a latin player who plays straight 8s but accents the clave which has a 3 against 2 in the 3 bar.

  • @markness1986 I know what he means, still it's wrong the way he says it. "Subdividing 3 strums over 1-2-3-4" would result in 12 strums total, but as you can see after his explanation, his hand movement gets faster as he starts to count 1-2-3.

  • best part is when he goes 13 then laughs then just straight jams

  • 6:32 "Pick up the pieces"

  • this guy is an heaven sent

  • great lessons man, thanks a lot from Belgium !

  • 8:00 - 8:22 Jizzed {:]^o

  • that's style to teach!

  • your guitar sounds so awesome, do you by any chance any effects going on like reverb? Or it is clean?

  • Seariously the part @ 00:20 where marty goes ''WHAZZZZOUT'' or something along them lines, made me absolute hurt with laugthter. seariously just keep going back over it again and again it gets better every time.. From the legend that is mr marty S .

  • he looks like my father :)

  • Marty,

I love the tone of the Heratige through the Deluxe.

    Big Ron

  • <3 PINKY TIME =D

  • Uuuuh - I FEEEEL GOOOD .... daadaadaa ...

    thanks for this tutorial !

  • Can i do this with a regular acoustic?

  • @JPHJ14 you can ;)

  • @JPHJ14

yeah but it won't sound as funky :D

  • @JPHJ14 It's possible to do this with any guitar as long as it's properly tuned, but you wont get the same tone unless you have the same guitar/amp/effects/settings.

  • Man, I keep watching more and more of your vids - great stuff!!!

  • For happy funk, that's a pretty serious face.

Moore from this Funky Stuff Man.

    Common lets do it :)

  • I play the same extended chords all the time in blues. And i even use the pinky finger all the time which is a plus for me. And i like how you explain the chords and notes as a numeric system other than tab. I played jazz early on in grade school to improvise but i seem to have trouble with what scale i should play as i move up the fretboard. I seen what you are doing with the scales at the root note but i want to see more about scales that should be played with extended chord progressions.

  • Man ,I have 11 musical children, you just saved me a mountain of headache trying to show them how to get down and dirty with the funk... Thanks a million.
