  • This is a good method, but is it really necessary? Wouldn't it be better to smoke and pack the way you feel is right? Surely with a hobby like this, half the fun is finding your own way to prepare the bowl through trial and error :)

  • Will this method work for braking in a new pipe? All the reading I have done regarding the subject suggest that you fill the pipe 1/3 to 1/2 full. Also not sure if it is because I was using a ribbon cut Virginia tobacco but I couldn't seem to use this method to pack my corn cob pipe. Does anyone know if this is because the bowl is to small or because to the cut of tobacco?

  • WITHOWWT YEWWSING YER NAIIHL

  • thanks

  • Danke schoen Herr Frank!

I recently inherited my Dad's pipe but I too had been having a little trouble with my packing but found this method to be extremely useful. Thank you for the advice, my last pipe lasted a very enjoyable 50 minutes.

  • Thank you for posting this packing method. I'm a new pipi smoker and the first 2 times I tried packing my pipe I did it using other methods shown by others without success. I tried this method and success! I had to relight only once!

  • Thanks a lot! I'm smoking my first bowl packed with this method as I type this, it's working wonderfully!

  • thx for this franck !

  • I find this to be the easiest way to pack a pipe with the best results. Thanks. I do think though that you don't get as much tobacco into the bowl, and therefore, your smoking time is shorter. Anyone else notice that ?

  • very helpful demo. I just started smoking a pipe and this video really made it a lot easier to enjoy the experience. good job.

  • what brand is he smoking?

  • @sniperalpha213 a german housemade brand

  • best packing method! back when i first started smoking pipe tobacco i watched this video and i've used this method since. thanks!

  • Is the draw still supposed to be like drinking water through a straw or is the draw suppposed to be lighter?

  • It's a personal preference really. If you cheeks turn inside, its much too tight. I should generally be free. Like breathing air. Personally, I prefer a bit of resistance.

  • Thanks so much Frank! This has changed my smoking experience expertly. I now enjoy pipe smoking!

  • stai a senti a questo per carica na pipa diventi matto!

  • This is aweosme. i have done the whole 3 layer thing i don't know how meny times. And i am always haveng to relight with that method. Last night i think i went thu about 8 matches. after seeing these vids i deside it was time to try it. so i packed my pipes useing this method and used the torch lighter trick in the 3rd vid and it went flawlessly. Best bowl i have ever had, Thank you frank! i will be teaching this method to all my friends.

  • It wasn't until I starting smoking a pipe that I began to appreciate how people could need 100 match boxes.

  • Man you're truly a pipe connoissuer!

  • I can't wait to try this, I have not been packing my pipes very well. Now I know what my problem has been! Thanks!

  • bro, your pro.

  • Danke sehr, Herr Frank.

  • you have truly upheld the traditions of pipe smoking

  • Thank God there's a video for this. If there wasn't, the audio makes for quite a good laugh ("You've got a little package"). But really, thanks to Frank for the awesome method. "You've got a little package"
