I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, but I could sit and watch these all fucking day. Martin Lopez is probably my favourite drummer of all time, and you nailed this dude, nice one : )
This is so well done. After having learnt it, i know haw hard it actually is. Grats. And just putting it out there, i think that opeth is and forever shall be better than dream theatre.
my hat's off to you dude, very impressive. What the heck are the drums doing during the bridges ("His words are flies, Swarming towards the true insects . . . " ). At first I thought they were just throwing in some 12s on the DB, but I kept getting lost. Now it sounds like the drums are meshing a completely different time sig than the guitars are playing (al la Extreme) and it sounds mind blowing. What is that?
Goddamn I love those hi-hat back-beat grooves on the 2nd verse. Lopez played with as much emotion as a human voice or a well seasoned pianist. I miss him.
Whoa this song has like the most odd time signatures and the weirdest drum patterns ever (which make the drums even more difficult). You covered perfectly dude. 5 stars hands down.
You can't put it like that. Generally, I'd say DT's drums are harder, but DT made alot of gay songs aswell so yeah. The Dance of eternity, In the name of god etc. those are hard.
i just think DT drums are generally easier because all Mike Portnoy does is mess around with weird time signatures in a showboat kind of way. Thats not saying hes not bad, hes a great drummer. I just think Opeth drumming has techincally groovier and harder beats.
Hey! Actually im working far away from home, but once I got home, and take a 2 weeks long practice, Im sure, I do the whole Watershed. It isnt that complicated, Axe'fills are great, but very easy, Lopez was more emotionally, and a bit more expressive. The only thing that could be a problem some bass patters from Axe, yeah, thats a bit fast 4 me (included the lotus eaters opening theme. :D
i am most impressed that u dont try to impress the youtube crowd by playing ridiculosly fast, because the song is meant to be played just the way u played it. personally i would put more originality into it for flavor.sounds just like the recording. nice work
I can't say anything else but sweet. I think you played this very smooth although I kinda got annoyed when you simplified some of the ride thingies :S But you play everything with such a superb timing and every little fill is so smooth that I can't help but envy you :)
gotta love the groove at 3:17

Any trick how you can get so great sound quality with no mics (considering when using camera mic)? Triggers aren't used, no?

Awesome job once again! So anything off of Watershed tickle your fancy yet? Whats your opinions on playing Lopez material vs. Axes material?
